Polling Phone Call Last Night
Submitted by aerograd on Thu, 11/01/2012 - 08:26Not sure why they chose Halloween night of all nights to do this call, but last night in the middle of the festivities I got a call from the Alabama College Republicans (?). I listened to the spokesman (President of the ACR?) give his message about how bad Obama is and how Romney will save us all.
Then this little old lady got on and asks me if I watched the foreign policy debate. I replied "No". Then a brief moment of quiet. Then she asked was that deliberate? I said "Yes".
Then she jumps into something along the lines of "Obama's foreign policy is a joke and is harming Americans... blah blah blah. Mitt Romney will fix these problems and blah...
I jumped in with "I have to stop you right there. I'm voting for Ron Paul. I'm writing him in. I'm not voting for Romney."
*dead stunned silence*
Then she goes on to tell me that the call is recorded and the message was not sponsored by any particular candidate blah blah blah.
The stunned silence made my day though.

I'd have told her I voted for Gary Johnson which would have caused the same reaction - or worse.
In my state a write-in for Dr. Paul won't be counted but they DO have to tally up every Libertarian Party vote.
The main thing is, I want the GOP/RNC to know (when they lose) that WE made the difference.
If they would have nominated Ron Paul, he WOULD have beaten Obama.

I've somehow gotten on the Republican email and direct mail lists. Probably because I was a RP delegate to the state convention.
Rather than just hitting "delete" I have replied that "due to the conduct of the RNC in violating their own rules and cheating Ron Paul, I am unable to support any Republican candidate. Please take me off your list".

Yeah. I'm not sure why this is a surprise to people. It's like everyone who just assumes I like Romney because I'm a Mormon. When I tell them I would never support him, they're always like "What?! But you're Mormon!" So? Oh well. Way to stand up for what you believe.
