Frontline: "Big Sky, Big Money." MUST to see the horrible state of our elections!

I watched this Frontline yesterday & was amazed to see James Bopp in the program. He served on the Platform Cmte, & I butted heads with him quite a few times in my subcommittee, Restoration of the Constitution. You will be even more sick about the state of elections after watching this program.

isn't it obvious?

One poster below summarized it perfectly:

"Corporations and Unions should have no rights other than those of the individuals who make them up. The restriction on the donations of individuals should be lifted. All laws that give corporations and unions powers not granted to individuals should be repealled."

My favorite part is...

The Goldman Sachs ad on the side of the page...

Waste of Time

Sorry gang but I thought this was a waste of time. Leaving aside that voting is a cruel joke to begin with, picking some poor yokels who are just trying to work within the system as worthy of scrutiny is absurd. Do a program on Diebolt if you feel the need to deal with election trivia or maybe sing a song:

Consider rewording the Heading

Frontline: "Big Sky, Big Money."
A MUST SEE of the horrible state of our elections!

Great video, thank you!

i am pretty sure many 501 c 4 organizations here

to beat the system you need to join the system, therefore voting for a 3rd party seems more realistic.

voting against the 2 party system is a lost customer for the duopoly.

i was going to write in Ron Paul but i have decided to help out the official 3rd party communities until Ron Paul runs again in 2016.

All this to give us an

All this to give us an illusion of choice.

We know that the System is rigged, but to attack Free Speech is the wrong response. Corporations and Unions should have no rights other than those of the individuals who make them up. The restriction on the donations of individuals should be lifted. All laws that give corporations and unions powers not granted to individuals should be repealed. The problem is special privileges handed out to corporations. If these were taken away, the Socialists who illogically think a Committee of Government Officials given rights that individuals don't have is somehow going to lead to more freedom would be seen as the absurdity it is.

If McDonald's was not given cheap beef by way of massive subsidy to cheap corn - and a host of other perks - there would be no need to "regulate" McDonald's and so it goes with hidden handouts and powers of the other Corporations.

Good news for those who love freedom

NEWS (Israel): The medical cannabis industry is expanding, fueled by Israel's strong research sector in medicine and technology — and notably, by government encouragement. Unlike in the United States and much of Europe, the issue inspires almost no controversy among the government and the country's leadership. Even influential senior rabbis do not voice any opposition to its spread, and secular Israelis have a liberal attitude on marijuana.

early voting

so seeing all the campaign signs and all kinds of people early voting here in florida (lots of sleeping old people) I figured it would be a good idea to hold up a sign saying something like "don't vote, the system is rigged"... and handing out dvds with good information to help awaken people.... anyone have any suggestions for the best content to accomplish this task?....or maybe even a premade dvd iso? Thanks!

With the military state of our country, they'd arrest you

for intimidation and voter disenfranchisement. Sign me up!

How Ironic

Ironic that I started watching this on the pbs site and the commercial before the video was hyping how great Goldman Sachs is for the public. Hah!

skippy

That is not irony

that is ritual mockery.

"This expose on bought-and-paid-for politics brought to you buy the folks who buy and sell politicians."

Did you catch the "take home" message here? It dos not matter how damning the evidence, the legal system is helpless to fix our elections. Let me reword that.... The legal system has no interest in stepping in and stopping the fixing of elections.

Love or fear? Chose again with every breath.

I agree in general with James Bopp...

I think he's done a lot for freedom of speech and individual rights. I'm not sure I agree with his opinion that getting more campaign material out to people will help, but the main point should be that it isn't for anyone to say how much or how little to communicate to voters, how much or how little to spend, nor is it anyone's 'right' to know who's funding a message. As Bopp says it is also irrelevant. The message should be what matters.

I'm not sure why so many in the liberty movement and conservatives like Virgil Goode make this a big issue. It's like saying McDonald's, Starbucks, and Apple make so much money and are such big corporations they should be limited on how much they spend on their ads and what they say. People may even argue as socialists do that because big corporations have so much power over the choice of the poor, ignorant public that not only should we regulate and place limits on corporate ad spending, we should tax them more and create public-service ads for public benefit.

I say just let us be free to choose. Just eliminate campaign finance laws all together.

The government of the people, ALLWAYS REFLECTS the will

of the people. In 1776, people wanted freedom and the RIGHT to be self sufficient.

Sadly, the endless credit card since 1971 hasn't held anyone responsible ... SO FAR.

The bill is coming due and the financial pain will be a pittance compared to the loss of liberty that allows it's creation.

SUCKS!

This has been going on since

This has been going on since George Washington was in office....

Finally, it worked, must be my computer

The video here loaded.
Bad news. Why is it those who should be doing something, do nothing. We have no legal recourse, the courts/judges are bought and paid for.

Deekey

nothing, it's pulled?

Can't get the video on DP to load, the link had a flag, the video is no longer avalible. Bummers

Deekey

Talk about the squeaky wheel getting the grease!

Thank you, Michael, for putting this at the top of the front page.

I just lost so much hope for fair elections after watching this.
For those of you who might have been at the Nat'l Platform meetings, now you now what kind of @$#@! Jim Bopp is. I really felt like a Christian in the ring with the lions when I was there with those of his ilk on that committee.

Also, the Supreme Court has become a joke. WTF?

Michael Nystrom's picture

Thank you ausscyn

It was a great program.

Bopp oversimplifies the issue. Yes, we need "more information" - but it is not strictly a matter of quantity, but of quality as well.

Thanks for posting.

To be mean is never excusable, but there is some merit in knowing that one is; the most irreparable of vices is to do evil out of stupidity. - C.B.

Bottom line, people want to buy propaganda, So it seems.

The only reason this kind of money is available is the Federal Reserve which was created by Congress.

Member get a guaranteed 6% profit, tax free after expenses. Political expenses, for example.

Free includes debt-free!

The money spent...

The money spend does not make me mad. What makes me mad are the illegal favors (contracts, appointments, pork etc.) that politicians distribute to those who spend money in hopes of getting said politicians elected. If politicians would follow the US constitution and the constitutions of their states and commonwealths, there would be few favors to distribute and the influx of money would stop. Remember that over 90% of everything the federal government does is illegal because it is not authorized by the US constitution.

as Jesse Unruh said--

"If you can't eat their food, drink their booze, screw their women and then vote against them, you have no business being up here."

It's time to end that kind of business

.

Just finished watching it.

I would love a legal document that claimed I am exempt from the laws passed by the past 2 administrations (both state and federal) because all of the legislation was influenced by corruption.

There should be a way for "we the people" to legally ignore unconstitutional laws and laws that are drawn up by criminals who have usurped the country;

If you want to watch another movie that will make you ill, look up the Frontline documentary called "Black Money". That one is a TRIP!

"There should be a way for

"There should be a way for "we the people" to legally ignore unconstitutional laws and laws that are drawn up by criminals who have usurped the country;"

You can and may ignore them since they are void. The problem is that our elected sociopaths with guns (government) has nothing but contempt for the rule of law and will come after you and make your life hell. They will be 100% wrong and you will be 100% correct but that will be little consolation as you begin your involuntary stay at the Greybar Hotel.

What did Mao say was the origin of political power?

What did Mao say?

And, "There should be a way for "we the people" to legally ignore unconstitutional laws and laws that are drawn up by criminals who have usurped the country;"

Isn't that why we join the GOP and take seats and offices?

bump--

well, if GoldmanSachs sponsored the program then . . .

I'll check--

not sunk--

give it time--

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

just watched this....sigh.

Goldman Sachs appeared as the sponsor of the Frontline piece.

Can everyone just write Ron Paul in? There is NO WAY to fight this. Its not even about political parties. It is a Corporate Marketing Machine - even if you are attempting to run for local office, you are entering the machine. If the Machine doesn't like you....YOU ARE DONE.
