Gotta stop and give thanks, man am I glad we are preppers.

As I sit here in sunny Arizona and read about millions still without power, I am just really thankful that we are preppers and our people have what they need to make it through for the most part. I find it HUGELY reassuring. And for this I am just really thankful. I don't have to worry myself sick about you. I mean guys, but for you this would be a whole lot worse.

The rest of the nation is getting a stark lesson on why we prep. Maybe people will be taking us a little more seriously from here out.

This is something I'm pretty

This is something I'm pretty interested in. I remember back around 2007 we had a good thread going here listing items and things that we should all have in case something serious arises. Do you guys have any good ideas on items and where to get these things to prepare? I know I could google or look around, but it's always best to get it from people who have actually committed to doing it as opposed to finding some random website.

1-year food supply for 4 people

does anyone have suggestions on the best value for a package like this. Costco looks to be the best deal so far.

sent you an e-mail on what I did and am doing. Not sure how it compares in price to others but a lot of choices, all just need water, heat, and 20 year shelf life. Hope it helps.

I like www.Preparewise.com

I like www.Preparewise.com and the Legacy brand they sell. Kerry Lutz did a podcast recently and offered the coupon code 'lutz' to get a discount.

From my understanding, their food is non gmo. They are supposed to be advertising non gmo in the near future, but don't have that labeling yet. I've been told it's the same ingredients they currently use.

I've bought from MANY sources and Preparewise is my favorite.

Right there with ya:

I have been telling my friends and neighbors for what seems years about being prepared for this stuff and while they agree and pay lip service to me, they still aren't doing it.
I have managed just fine through everything this year and watched them struggle and complain. While everyone else's places are black, I am lit up like christmas.
A couple of days ago I heard two of my neighbors (jokingly) comment about just coming to my house and I laughed. (Not jokingly) and let them know I was doing this for my survival and not theirs. I have always helped anyone that needs it, but they are assuming way too much. I told them so.
If they didn't soon get their act together and do something, they were going to be on their own and I would fight for my life if need be, against anyone including them. I think it woke them up some, but I don't think they take it seriously yet.
I am also thankful for the preppers.

I second that

My sister and her husband live in Tuckerton,NJ and they skipped out on a generator. They are kicking themselves now as all the stores in 50 mile radius sold out a few days before. They have food but will soon lose it due to no fridge/freezer. I have a gas and solar generator but does them no good. Their daughter is in 3rd year of law school at Rutgers and she used to laugh at me for stocking up but I wonder if she is still laughing now. I am not done but purchase supplies every month!.

It's bad up there:

Just this morning I met a nice couple in a Home Depot that were in the process of purchasing a new generator exactly like one of the ones I already have.
Along with fuel containers, and other accessories, I reminded them to get stabiliser and gave them some advice from my experiences. I learned that they had driven from northern NJ. all the way to Frederick MD. just to get one. I then asked why they only bought one?
They simply said they couldn't even afford this one and the expense of the trip too. It was going on credit card. They also told me that it was worse then they had ever imagined and not very many people were even close to being prepared.
So sad. Maybe now folks will wake up.

Tragically awesome

One by one everybody is checking in. So far we're all ok. It's all the OTHER PEOPLE OUT THERE having a hard time.

Most of those who think so actually don't and most of those who think sew actually rip.
