Colbert seriously just disrespected Ron Paul and supporters.
Submitted by RonPaul2008PA on Thu, 11/01/2012 - 23:54I don't have the video yet, but he basically called us all a cult while saying mormonism is fine and dandy. I wont be watching anymore.

You know what Dave, I really don't care what other
people think about me. I'm free to do as I wish as long as it doesn't harm anyone else. Sounds like you need to get out of that high school "being accepted" malarky..People don't seek out freedom and independence because it wears the right shoes or clothes or drives a cool car.
Just one last kick in the nuts, then a final deathblow
i dunno..
what Colbert is "really" all about. Alot of people seemed to think his RP endorsement back some time ago was genuine- Im not so sure. Remember the FDA/raw milk piece from back a couple years ago? I'll always wonder what the heck Colbert was up to back at the beginning of the year, during the South Carolina primary. Remember, RP had come off of strong runner-up finished in Iowa and NH going into SC. I would tend to believe different programs were in place to stop the Doctor, should he continue to break through the gatekeepers walls in early primary states.
Remember Donald Trump in 2011? The guy seemingly became a Republican only to disparage Ron Paul at CPAC 2011 and during the primaries. He acted the whole time as if he opposed Mitt Romney, first and foremost, and then endorsed Mittens out of the blue. The whole thing was bizarre

Its called humor
He probably switched the two purposely to make a joke. Which makes sense. Mormonism is a cult after all. Not that I'm a big fan of colbert.
Ron Paul - Intellectual hero
Wow you all are sensitive. I
Wow you all are sensitive.
I saw the episode last night and already forgot all about that line. I imagine plenty of other people did too.
This over-reaction only serves to make us look more cult-like anyway.
Look up the word "satire"
It is based on Satyre Plays of Roman playwrights and taken from the word "Satyre" - which are mythical half goat/half man creatures in Greek/Roman culture. These plays were the only venue to openly mock the Emperor because they used mischievious "creatures" of the woods and in mythology of the time were not "to be taken seriously". But, of course with all comedy, it is taken seriously after the fact.
Basically it is exaggerating an authority's position to show the absurdity of it.
A perfect example is the movie Blazing Saddles. In that move the African-American men are highly intelligent and rational, while the White/Caucasian people are ultra-baffoons.

Nice
Satyre = Colbert = Mythical half goat/half man creature.
Nice. I like your flow.
Nevermind....
You just used the same thing on both ends of a demonstration of equal. That's called a "duh" in mathematics.

He's a raging liberal. That's his job;
To masquerade as a conservative and embarrass people. I hope you didn't really think Comedy Central would allow a conservative voice to reach people.
Colbert is the equivalent of ME getting a comedy hour where I call myself a progressive. I'd use it as a soap box to paint progressives in the most grotesque light possible.
Colbert is no friend to any conservative. I have no doubt that he considers Libertarians and Ron Paul people to be his biggest threat.
While I agree with almost
While I agree with almost everything else you said...
"I hope you didn't really think Comedy Central would allow a conservative voice to reach people."
Ever heard of South Park?
Not sure I'd call southpark a conservative voice.
Cartman? Same methodology. Southpark pokes fun at everything, but ultimately, that turns everything into a joke.
The writers identify as
The writers identify as libertarian (one is registered with the LP), and say that while they hate both, they hate liberals more. Hence why South Park isn't anti-business or pro-global warming. They're definitely more right than left. They only really tend to go at social conservatism and even then, quite moderately (they have no clear position on abortion).
Colbert
Is he seriously someone who gives a heck about freedom and liberty? and limited government?
..aahhh no imo.
Why bother even discussing him? The only he is missing is the clown outfit.

You are aware that Colbert is an act, right? His persona says things that are intentionally bigoted. Personally, I do not care for his act, but I do recognize it as an act.

The Die Hard Ron Paul supporters...
Who still support him even when he DROPPED OUT and NO LONGER wants the job even when there is a GREAT CANDIDATE who is very qualified to fill his shoes in his absence whom RON PAUL HAS PREVIOUSLY SPOKEN VERY HIGHLY OF....
ARE A CULT.
You are like Ron Paul ZOMBIES who refuse to accept reality that the GUY DOESN'T WANT THE JOB and isn't exactly working real hard to GET YOUR VOTE!
Tryin to throw some cold water on ya... shake you awake... shock treatment .. if you get pissed off at me and finally come to your senses and rescue my children from TYRANNY... and still hate me...
I can live with that.
...but I digress... full disclosure... multiple times I've revealed I no longer vote in the demon-crazy - I'm for a republican form of government - I am however a Ron Paul supporter... I'm just trying to guide Ron Paul's flock to the right Shepard if they still choose to participate in this lunacy.

Honey or vinegar?
You have obviously chosen vinegar. How's that working out for you so far?
? Wow
Bugs the heck out of you that some us just refuse to vote for evil or for our own slavemasters, doesn't it? I could call you a few names, too. But I know what kind of people do that.
Exactly right
As I stated in another thread, I assume that most people that are idolizing Ron are of the Christian variety . I assume this based on the fact that idolizing a man for these people is like basic instinct(jesus-man). Not to difficult to make that leap to Ron.
Assume much?
I'm an athiest. Whats your point assuming everyone is a bible beating christian to support the man? He has the most ideas and plans that I and others still support. Going by the lesser of two evils most of us who visit here speak about enough, some people believe voting for someone other than Ron Paul is a lesser of evils.
Its called voting your conscience.

considered myself a Christian although my wife and kids are.
I've always identified more with Athiest/Agnostic...although I am open to more as I get older and wiser.
I'm writing in RP.

Much of what he says is sarcastic and satire, dont take him seriously. I think one of the most direct things I have heard him say is that if you vote for Romney because you believe what he says, you are a dope. haha Granted, I dont watch all that often though.
ummm...
I take it you're not familiar with satire. Here, let me help:
