A facebook conversation between myself and neoconservative friend...
Me: Sometimes the only real choice is to refuse to choose.
Him: not this time....that's BS in this election. one man has failed across the board and another has executive and business experience. you sit on your hands and its partly your fault if NOBAMA is given 4 More Years! wake up man!
Me: If Obama wins, it's because of the GOP's actions in Florida. You just can't screw the most engaged portion of your party and expect it not to have consequences.
Him: i disagree. the tea party conservatives are most engaged in every "swing" state. the third partiers are going to either help or be part of the 4-year problem. you choose buddy.
Me: Who do think the Tea Party people are? Where do you think they came from? No doubt the movement has been co-opted by the neoconservative movement since their success in 2010 but at it's core, it is a liberty movement that stems from Ron Paul his followers. No Ron Paul = No Tea Party.
Me: Florida was a spectacle of big bad power grabbing government. It was party over the people. It put Romney and his party elites in a very bad light to those who were paying attention. This isn't just a Ron Paul thing. The former party chairman called the their actions ridiculous. It's a country club and they made it very obvious that some were not welcome. The party controllers took a calculated risk. They decided they didn't need Ron Paul or is supporters to win. Of course now its a whole different story.
Me: "The Tea Parties of 2010 remind me very much of the Conservative Revolution of 1994. And if the Tea Party Nation is not very careful, they will succumb to the same fate. The signs of a silent takeover of the movement are already appearing.
"First of all, the Tea Parties were actually born during the Presidential campaign of Congressman Ron Paul of Texas in 2007 and 2008. For all intents and purposes, the Tea Parties and the Ron Paul Revolution were one and the same. These were (mostly) young people, who were sick and tired of the same old establishment Republican Party. They were tired of establishment Republicans selling out the principles of limited government; they were tired of the US Constitution being ignored and trampled by both Republicans and Democrats; they were tired of an incessant interventionist US foreign policy that keeps sending US forces overseas to advance a burgeoning New World Order (NWO); they were tired of perpetual war; they were tired of the bank bailouts; they were tired of the Federal Reserve; etc.
"I know this because I met--and spoke before--the Tea Party Nation in State after State as I campaigned for Dr. Paul during the Republican primaries back in 2008. And I met them again all over America, as I was running as an Independent candidate for President--with Ron Paul's endorsement, no less. I was with them in scores of meetings (big and small) from Washington, D.C., to Spokane, Washington, and all points in between.
"But now many of the Tea Parties are distancing themselves from Dr. Paul and embracing establishment players such as Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck. Even Newt Gingrich is being courted. Watch out, Tea Party Nation: you're in danger of losing your soul! Newt Gingrich is not one of you.
Me: He was right. The Tea Party lost it's soul.
Him: again. baldhead can pound sand. one man's opinion. Paul can take credit for nothing. sit this one out dude...great plan. im gonna stop now before i boil over. later.
Me: "Perhaps the first "Tea Party" event on record was an event for Ron Paul dubbed "Boston TeaParty07" on December 16, 2007. This event included the throwing of boxes labeled "tea" and "IRS" among others, into the bay. This event was also notable in making online "Money Bomb" history as the largest one-day fundraising event at $6.5 million."
Me: Chuck Baldwin is a constitutional conservative much like Ron Paul. How is it that you are continually bashing men who are espousing the principles that you claim to favor? I mean anyone who despises the simple message of liberty from Ron Paul, and the core constitutional values of Baldwin has to stop and assess the situation. Are you even a conservative? You continually push these ideas that empower the state. You love war. You love TSA. You love PATRIOT Act, You take no issue with NDAA, You wont' even stand up against the FED, the root cause of all our economic turmoil. Sometimes I wonder about you man. Where is your head? You can't just pay lip service to liberty and then support every single effort of government to run rough-shot over the individual.
Government isn't on your team no matter which party is in power. The only government official that will do the average citizen any good is the one who takes it upon himself to dismantle from within the massive overpowering bureaucracy of the federal government. Government offers 1 single redeeming service and that is to protect liberty. We as a people would thrive if government just backed off, shriveled up and crawled back from wherever it came from.
This country won't be fixed by some man in Washington. It will be fixed when we start to realize that casting all our hope on some party or politician is what got us to this point. Ron Paul wasn't going to save the nation. Anyone who says otherwise is a fool. It's the realization in the minds and hearts of the people that we are the solution. We can fix this nation. We just need to get someone in the white house who believes in us as much as we do. We need someone who will cut regulations, spending, taxes, and unconstitutional agencies. Return the federal government back to what it was intended to be. Not so that America will recede in the world, but so that America can once again prosper and be that light of freedom to show the rest of the world that prosperity does not come from the benevolence of the state, but that freedom, individual liberty, and private property can raise living standards and provide for the needs of people like no other system the world has ever known.
A man came along who had this same hope for America and the media laughed at him. The supposed conservatives labeled him as dangerous. All efforts were taken to marginalize his movement. The state was embraced by both left and right in opposition to a voice of freedom. People are so blinded. They don't understand what was at stake. If we didn't fight for our liberty, it wouldn't be long before we were going to be faced with a choice that was intended to be no choice at all. The election cycle would be reduced to discussions about who hates dogs and who would give more to this group or that. We didn't have much time to convince people that the only real second choice was a little old man from Texas.
The Republicans battered his supporters from state to state, breaking bones and cheating, the media complicit through it all. Even up to the National convention where the rules changes were enacted so that men like Ron Paul would not be able to have such bearing on the predetermined chosen candidates of the future. Those who opposed the new rules were drove around in busses for hours so the paperwork could not be delivered on time. The rules changes and the decision to dismiss all of Maine's delegates (supporters of Paul and elected by the people) were voted on where we saw plainly that the results were read from a teleprompter. Voices called repeatedly for a point of order only to be denied as the party big whigs railroaded the entire proceedings.
This is the way we choose who leads our country? Men in dark rooms scheme to gain control and thwart the system. Even when exposed to the light of day only a few take issue with the clear undermining of the American voting process. Others even more ignorantly cheer on the rulers, under some illusions that they are on the same team.
Ron Paul supporters submitted the required papers to nominate him from the floor of the convention. The papers were delivered on time. WE have the video evidence. THE BLEW HIM OFF. THE BROKE THEIR OWN RULES. THEY STOLE THE CHOICE FROM THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. Romney was complicit in this. The papers for Ron Paul's nomination ended in Ginsberg's (Romney's campaign lawyer) hands. After that...no one knows. Priebus says that the paperwork wasn't submitted in a timely manor. You talk about BS. They way that entire convention was stages is the real BS.
I know there is no real choice on November 6. I'm not under the spell that you and so many others seem to be. The election process is a joke. Your a joke for believing the candidate THEY gave you is going to make any real and necessary changes to our national government before were destroyed from debt war and taxes.
The way I see it we all had a shot. It's gone now.
