Running for City Council NEXT year- One Year No Money- Can it be Done

So The City Council has elections every year....
...and after seeing what corruption has happened this last year, I decided to do something the most I think is possible; That is running for city council. I have one year, no money, and a liberty message to a small Texas (5K) town, can it be done?

If it can be done how?

Granbury, Texas is the town

Issues I have with the town;

Building codes too strict and prevent business' from expanding or anything but new (read large) Businesses from opening

Water Regulations that are not open as to why they are needed, or what they are based on

City Owned building and businesses, should only be allowed via referendum (ie is now running the Opera House a local theater)

Too much un-needed regulations hampering small business only..

What do you think?

If you wanna win you have to

If you wanna win you have to walk and talk to everyone. Knock on every door. Leave them your card and brochure. Talk LIMITED government and you have a good chance at winning.

Yes - It is Possible

Good advice.

It can be done with almost no money in a small town of 5,000.

You will need some money - for flyers, business cards, phone bill, gas, and maybe some new clothes.

As Ira stated, you will have to knock on every door, collect names of supporters and possible donors, create an email list, make a lot of phone calls, keep in constant touch, give everyone in sight a flyer or two-sided business card, ask everyone to help you spread the word, and do not stop until the polls close.

If you eat and drink your future job, you might have a shot at winning.

Good luck!

Things that you can do if you don't have funds is to attend public events, talk to the newspaper, reach out to non-profits, talk to local business owners and most importantly reach out to local RP supporters and join forces and be creative.

Where I live some of us Ron Paul delegates formed a non-profit and use our festivals and forums to get exposure for all candidates who want to be involved.

If you are able to get any funds it is very important to have a massive amount of signs everywhere as this seems to be very effective for local campaigns.

Sure it can.

You say it is a small town if you start now, make it a point to talk to the citizens about your ideas and listen to them they may have some too. Be humble in your quest and I think it can happen.

Good luck.
