Gary Johnson shares vision for country in Streetsboro

“Gary, Gary, Gary,” shouted a crowd of about 720 attending a Streetsboro campaign rally for Gary Johnson, the Libertarian candidate for president.

Johnson, who has promoted a goal of gaining 5 percent of the popular vote in Tuesday’s election, said reaching that goal would “open up doors” for the party that have been closed in the past.

Despite his status as a “third party candidate,” the former two-term Republican governor of New Mexico said his name will appear on ballots in 49 of the 50 states, including Ohio. In Michigan, he’s a write-in candidate.

Oklahoma is the only state where he said his name won’t appear on the ballot.

“Oklahoma should wear a necklace of shame for that,” he said.

His speech of more than an hour in length advocated less government intervention in citizens’ personal lives, staying “out of the bedroom,” legalizing marijuana and more. The American Civil Liberties Union ranked him highest among presidential candidates on protection of civil liberties, he said.

He also advocates a less interventionist foreign policy, keeping the military out of other countries unless they attack the United States and promising to bring a speedy end to the nation’s presence in Afghanistan.

The nation’s biggest domestic challenge, he said, is tackling its ballooning deficit, which wouldn’t be accomplished by either President Barack Obama or Mitt Romney.

The two are arguing over whether to increase the federal budget by 2 percent or 4 percent when he said the discussion needs to be how to cut spending by 43 percent.

“Forty-three cents of every dollar spent is borrowed,” he said, predicting a financial collapse brought on by the nation’s debt. “The only way we avert this is balancing the federal budget right now.”

RAND PAUL or NOT AT ALL

Another planner

with visions of how other people should live.
Ugh.

talking out both sides of his mouth:

This OP:

"He also advocates a less interventionist foreign policy, keeping the military out of other countries unless they attack the United States and promising to bring a speedy end to the nation’s presence in Afghanistan."

Wikipedia:

"On April 9, 2012, Johnson told The Daily Caller that while he would withdraw military forces, he would not rule out putting U.S. military bases in Afghanistan."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_positions_of_Gary_Joh...

Will the real Gary Johnson please stand up!?

Speedy end to our presence in Afghanistan... or permanent military bases? Which is it? He's said both...

"I hate drones.. but I'm going to leave them on the table" -- specifically for Yemen and Pakistan... two countries we are not at war with.

Mitt at least waits a year or more to flip-flop. Gary Johnson does it in a matter of days sometimes... speed flip-flopper. :p

.
~wobbles but doesn't fall down~

Haha...

Gary Johnson actually said an entire state should "wear a necklace of shame" for him not being on their ballot. What a doofus with terrible judgement.

Would he hold grudges against entire regions as president? I'm beginning to think the man is psychotic. o_O

.
~wobbles but doesn't fall down~

And I agree with him!

How dare a state not "allow" people the choice of a 3rd party candidate?

Formerly rprevolutionist

You don't even realize...

the blackness of heart you are revealing for the whole world to see. It was just a few political operatives. Not an ENTIRE state.

Gary Johnson has put a necklace of shame around his own neck...

.
~wobbles but doesn't fall down~

But that state does not allow ANY third party candidates

THAT was the reason for his comment.
It was not just all about Gary Johnson.
Have you watched the video yet?

RAND PAUL or NOT AT ALL

and you think it's funny

I know a few GJ supporters who are DP members and live in Oklahoma.

You make me sick.
You are an example of what is wrong in this world.

The down-voting folks here I will say a prayer for all of you right now.
Prayer asking God to help you get back on the path to salvation.

Thanks for the input and posting

I for one feel that there is none and should never be any arm twisting in the liberty movement. If one has to twist arms in the name of liberty it would kind of like being a hypocrite...wouldn't you say?

Dude...

Gary Johnson said an ENTIRE STATE should wear a NECKLACE OF SHAME. That is PSYCHOTIC, bubba!

.
~wobbles but doesn't fall down~

Yeah...maybe it is

For the elected NON-representative state government of Oklahoma.
And those are the goons Gary was talking about.
Of course...it's the PEOPLE who need to change that.

RAND PAUL or NOT AT ALL

Thanks Steve

Why would anyone down-vote your comment and this post?

Romney operatives?
RP absolutists?

Last hours before the election day and the some folks are scared of Gary getting the 5% he needs for the LP to obtain the major party status and the $90 million that comes with it.

Thank you.

I have no idea

Maybe some trolls don't want anyone to view the video???
Beyond me. As everyone knows I was always Ron Paul or not at all.
I campaigned non-stop for Ron Paul since 2007 at two of the area gun shows every month, the local street fairs, the county fair...etc.
I had to helplessly stand by and witness our local TEA party get TEA-o-connned while fighting desperately to educate the unknowing as to what was happening to their "patriot" organization. All the while making friends and some enemies along the way. That's just how it goes I guess.
I voted for Chuck Baldwin in 2008 only because Ron Paul did endorse him. Which I do not expect an outright endorsement from Ron for anyone this time, and respect his decision for that. But Ron Paul has all but come right out and endorse Gary, and leads one to believe that he is going to vote for Gary Johnson.
So WHAT UP people?
Or don't you have any hair back there?

RAND PAUL or NOT AT ALL

I can't believe...

I used to defend you.

.
~wobbles but doesn't fall down~

Me too weebles.

I will sure be glad when Johnson looses on Tuesday just so that Legalize can return to his old self and begin refocusing his energy on all of the other liberty issues that are out there.

.

Thank goodness you are for

Thank goodness you are for liberty and freedom, appeal........... sarc!
No actually, you are for telling others what they can or cannot do with their own bodies. Setting up laws that will again send women into back allies to die. Let people make their own decisions! And by the way I am not a supporter of abortion. But you are not a supporter of free choice. You want the government to set laws that all are supposed to follow regardless of their right to make their own decisions.
I bet you are against people using "illegal" drugs as well? But if a doctor prescribes it, it is a-ok, right?
Footnote... it would be loses not looses. Try this: lose rhymes with booze, loose rhymes with goose.

Formerly rprevolutionist

A down vote

but no reason. Aren't you the brave one?

What would you expect?

"I will sure be glad when Johnson looses on Tuesday..."

hmm

I have news for you the struggle the good fight continues and nothing and nobody like you with your negative comments will stop this.

Yes, LL, Gary will lose on Tuesday

Let's just hope he hits the 5% and gains some ground for 2016.

Formerly rprevolutionist

We need to help the Libertarian party as well

At least then...maybe we would have a real second party.
Lord knows the republicrats have been in charge far too long already.

RAND PAUL or NOT AT ALL

More personal attacks...

by the Ron Paul-loathing bully.

I don't play, I commission the league.
