That was pathetic

to watch.

Let me get this straight. We've become more modern than when we lived in caves, yet we are MORE helpless?

We can actually PREDICT when disaster is likely to strike, and you still end up with this? Give me a break. Yes, natural disasters are terrible, but they are NOT new to the world although you would think so with this lady's attitude.

It's not that hard. You prepare and/or evacuate. If you don't know what to do then turn to neighbors/friends/family or even the Internet which has info on absolutely everything. But DON'T think the govt. should be your savior.

In this lady's defense government reliance is how people have been conditioned to think for decades, unfortunately.

+1 For the bottom line.

"In this lady's defense government reliance is how people have been conditioned to think for decades, unfortunately."

Yes, that's the bottom line.

Hence our ongoing effort to undo this conditioning horror designed to hurt and disassemble THIS country.

For the restoration time :

Let's keep standing.

Society in every state is a blessing,

but Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil;

in its worst state an intolerable one:

for when we suffer, or are exposed to the same miseries BY A GOVERNMENT,

which we might expect in a country WITHOUT GOVERNMENT,

our calamity is heightened by reflecting that we furnish the means by which we suffer.
IMO it is best not to be dependent on the Government.

We Need!

I do feel sorry for her and those with her

She's another victim of the socialist/communist preaching that's been rammed down lots of people's throats for decades. She does need help, but it's best if she gets that help from neighbors and from churches. That's the only way to get her to understand that regular people can and will voluntarilly do more than the government will.

Roger that. So, she lives alone

Roger that.

So, she lives alone and she is cold, and her house got harm ? Why can't she move to some more friendly place and work her issues out ?

She could move, no ?

I moved from France to Connecticut 4 years ago, IN THE MIDDLE OF WINTER 2008/2009 at my own expenses, after spending two months looking for and getting a first employer contract secured/signed.

I handled the immigration paperwork and fees alone as well.

Then I relocated from Connecticut to California with wife AND KIDS at own expenses again a year later (wife's cool relatives live in California and Arizona; plus, I love the sun, like many from England or Normandy).

I've been helping another French dude alike (just giving him info tips, doesn't cost me much) do the same last year, from Japan to the US for him, with his wife AND KIDS, as well.

Oh wait. Maybe being self reliant for 2 decades straight, having zero debt, no credit cards, no mortgage, knowing exactly our value, no more and no less on the market, securing savings, and working all the milestones out constantly did help us a bit ?

Maybe ? Just my guess, anyway.

What is her dear government doing for her NOW, with the $30,000+ of various taxes I have to give them so enthusiastically each year ?

I never needed more than $6,000 or so in savings each time I decided to move on to new endeavors and dealing with bad surprises. Adjust according to inflation, sure.

What's her problem, really ? You don't have to stay cold, lady.

Okay, well, good luck to you, lady.

You've got a great employer anyway, haven't you ? I can't worry too much about you.

A few nice cashiers I know cumulating 2 or more jobs and still struggling to sustain their families seem like a bit more deserving my attention, bear with me.

Oh, and dear wife and I aren't exactly in our wild twenties or even thirties any longer either, btw.

Betcha they all have a position on bombing Iran or other places. Real tough huh?

a couple of points

the vast majority of people in these neighborhoods are NOT like this lady.

the vast majority of houses in these neighborhoods are two-story. Very simple to move clothes, food, people, etc. upstairs. They had DAYS to get this done. Stupid people do stupid things and no amount of government, or neighborly help, can do much about that.

People were told to expect the worse and, to be safe, get out. Many chose not to, took the risk, and paid for it. I have limited sympathy for them.

Next time it will be....exactly the same.

Her name is known, and she is a Transportation Department worker

Btw, her name is known, and she is a Transportation Department worker :

This may explain better how much she expects for her dear government (and employer) to help her.

Harsh times ongoing

Harsh times ongoing over there it seems.

Did I hear Mr Senator use the verb "try" in the last seconds ...

"... we're gonna try..."

Good luck with FEMA.

If these people were my neighbors, besides helping them as I could afford, the second thing I'd go for is to start explaining them it does no good, NEVER, to surrender for decades on your freedoms to seek gov't help or protection when hard times hit.

Clue ? On a tangent topic : have they EVER seen where and how every single dime of their taxes is used ? And yet, it's just money, right ? Rings a bell of an analogy ?

Oh yes : best wishes of luck with FEMA now, they gonna need it.

It always amazes me how all those people ie. camera people, staff, etc. probably never offer once to help someone in distress and just go about doing their business. I find this very repulsive.

Surely some high school gym or military base nearby could accomodate these people if they wanted to go.

In my home country, typhoons, floods & black outs are part of..

life, on a year to year basis. I feel so sorry for the unexperienced and unprepared, in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy. To many, this is a whole new thing, albeit tragic...to the countless victims and the affected.

Imagine the massive incompetency of government. This just hit mainly two states, New Jersey & New York hard...what if the whole country, after say an economic collapse or some random solar flare/massive grid failure (it happened before and is not too far off).

A very scary scenario, indeed...

if you are that stupid... you

if you are that stupid... you deserve to...sorry, no patience for dumbasses like these people... always running to the government for help.. absolute morons. When's the Government coming?? lmao, IDIOT.

Shumer, that shmuck, loves it... yes give me your liberty I the Government will take care of you... morons...

Appreciate all your emails. Still lurking I am... :)

The "Government" Did Arrive

(a la Chuck Shumer and his entourage). Shumer does love this kind of stuff doesn't he? That's because he's a sociopath who has been plotting his revenge on society since grade school. This woman literally made his day.

I love how he says...

We are going to cut through all of the red tape and get you the stuff you need...

That's one of the biggest crocks of sh!t I've ever heard. These people had a MUCH better chance of getting fed BEFORE FEMA got there. Any "red tape" that was in place before their arrival just increased AT LEAST ten fold.

Despite that, I just can't wrap my head around this ladies mentality... why would you just sit around and wait to die when you could get out and DO SOMETHING that would help speed things along? If she would actually do that she would most likely find that there are people all over who are trying to get food and clothes to them but they aren't able to go door to door.

Why do these people also need cloths?

The vigilance of the preppers pays off. They are in good shape right now.

They need clothes

Because everything got soaked and the washer/dryer doesn't work. Evacuees have only what they took with them in terms of clothes.

This is a time for

This is a time for humanitarian efforts...neighbors helping neighbors. Not government help.

Go to your neighbors.. I bet

Go to your neighbors.. I bet on my street there is not one other neighbor that has a years supply of food, a way to heat the house, extra water etc.. None of these stupid people has a clue. Why do you buy Life insurance? Why do many not buy Life insurance? I have no sympathy for these pathetic morons.

A year's supply of food?

Sounds like either a potential "terrorist" or a Mormon ^_^ Not necessarily a way to heat everything, but at least the food ...

You don't need a years worth of supplies for a hrricane. But I'm not just talking about neighbors on the same street.

We Went Through

A big flood when we lived in Houston and the only help we asked for from the government was an sba loan to repair the house. We paid it all back too. The only other help we got was from the Red Cross. The neighbors all got together to help each other. We didn't sit on our butts and whine to the government to save us. Geez. If that lady had a generator why didn't she stock up on gas to power it? Everyone knew that hurricane was coming for a long time. And no clothes? What's with that?

In my limited experience

In my limited experience [solar powered RV] I can say they are a great deal. Buy a panel at a time and make sure you purchase the expandable panels so you can continue to add on and on. You will need at least two batteries per panel to store your power and an inverter to wire into your system so that you can run AC appliances through it. Cost for me with one 110 expandable panel, extra DC plugs, and an inverter was $1000.

Of course, cheaper still is to get plans and make your own.

did you get the inverter?
