Paul Krugman: "You're stupid if you think this election is close."

http://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/11/03/reporting-that-m...

How many stories have you seen declaring that “both sides think they’re winning”? No, they don’t: the Romney campaign is visibly flailing, trying desperately to find new fronts on which to attack Obama. They clearly know that it will take a miracle — sorry, a last-minute surge — to prevail on Tuesday. It’s OK, I guess, to report campaign spin; but surely it’s not OK to report campaign spin as the truth, which is what these stories are doing.

More, including where he calls you stupid:

Obama Odds Are 65%

Linda Cross's picture

just got this from CNN:

A new CNN/ORC International poll shows the presidential race is all tied up, going into Election Day on Tuesday. In the national survey of likely voters, Barack Obama has 49% and Mitt Romney also has 49%.

It is close in other areas as well. Obama's favorable rating: 52%. Romney's favorable rating: 51%. 51% say they agree with Obama on important issues. 50% say the same about Romney. 56% say that Obama has the personal qualities a president should have. 55% feel that way about Romney. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5% points.

Why is it called an "International poll" isn't our election just open to US citizens?

it HAS to be projected to the masses as a tie...

that way, they all come out and vote and the machines can be compromised/manipulated

also, if you flip a coin

the odds are 50/50

If the coin has a corpo-fascist head on each side, then the odds are 100%!

I predict the winning

I predict the winning candidate will be the one who favors bailouts, TARP, NDAA, Patriot Act, Romneycare, inflation, raising the debt “ceiling,” TSA, …

Let it not be said that we did nothing.-Ron Paul
Stand up for what you believe in, even if you stand alone.-Sophia Magdalena Scholl

You made a mistake.

It's obamneycare. It's important to give credit where credit is due.

I live in ohio

If it comes down to ohio...Rmoney loses. Obummer will win ohio. I am voting for GJ and hoping obummer will be the lamest duck ever.

My guess

It will be close but the President will win.

Hopefully the Dems will lose some seats in the Senate imo.

Sorry, but this looks like

Sorry, but this looks like something I would see on Real clear Politics next to A Karl Rove video saying Obama is through and it is gonna be a Romney land-slide.

I'm not entirely sure why

I'm not entirely sure why Krugman would prefer one over the other. There is zero difference in their monetary policy platform.

Yeah, but apparently he doesn't know that

There is something strangely gratifying in him not knowing that ;-)

I guess I would rather see

I guess I would rather see Obama win over Romney. 8 years with "Mitt" seems worse than 4 more years of Obama.

My prediction

First off Krugman lives in a bubble of syncophants. He probably does not personally know or talk to too many people that are not voting for Obama.

The real story is the shine has gone off Obama and there is clearly less enthusiasm for him.
After all he has been a disaster on many fronts and he is getting divisive and strident.
While there is no real enthusiasm for Romney (although he is playing to larger crowds lately) there is major anti Obama sentiment.

Rassmussen has the presidential approval poll almost always around 50pct BUT 40-45pct strongly disapprove while only 25-30pct strongly approve

The people against Obama are highly motivated to remove him from office.

Prediction:
Romney 50
Obama 47
Romney's 47pct remark will prove prophetic

your living a pipe dream if you think romnie gets 50%...

first off, if EVERY Republican in the country voted for him (like bush over kerry) he would get 51%

you are telling me that romnie, with his fractured base, disillusioned Ron Paul people, 3rd party voters, independents, etc. all these people that will NOT vote for the corporation candidate and this STILL gives him (romnie) 50%?

nope...that ain't gonna happen!

romnie will be LUCKY to get 42%, thats what his "surge" you speak of gets him...42%

other than that, he gets 38% to seal the very worst defeat in history for the gop

they shoulda picked a better candidate...they coulda had a Doctor!

Gallup is the most accurate

Gallup is the most accurate polling. Throughout our history, any presidential candidate polling over 50% by mid October has NEVER lost an election.

Mid October Gallup had Romney 52/ Obama 45...a 7% spread. Romney is still over 50%.

Landslide- Romney. America loses either way.

All the retards thought Carter would crush Reagan (except Gallup)...then Reagan took nearly 400 electoral votes. Don't believe the msm propaganda.

The Truth.

Much as I hate Paul Krugman - he is right.

Obama has been ahead in all the polls. Romney keeps trying to redefine himself.

BOTH campaigns will claim to be in the lead now. The media will pretend its close.

But if you want some real evidence - check intrade.com. These people make money on betting this elction and they will give you the facts as they are known with out BS.

Obama 65.5%
Romney 34.7%

Its not going to be close - its a landslide for Obama.

ecorob's picture

now that sounds more like it...

35% was also my edumacated guesstimate...

we ARE a FORCE the gop will not soon forget

we'll remind them of their stupid ways as we bury their party!

the dems are next...take notice

we, the people will also fracture their base if obombya fails them as bad this term as he did last term

Don't forget -- NeoCons

Don't forget -- NeoCons are slightly more adept at cheating than Democrats. Mitt Romney has had all kinds of practice cheating during the last year. Obama was unopposed through the primaries, so he is a little rusty at it. Who knows better than we about all of the election engineering and fraud?

lol....let's revisit your

lol....let's revisit your post Tuesday night.

Same thing was said about Carter & Reagan...then Reagan took almost 400 electoral votes.

I'm not a Romney shill either...both candidates are pitiful, but the media fraud and bias will be exposed Tuesday...watch and learn.

Don't misunderstand - these are not the percentages of the vote

that each candidate will get.

Obama will NOT get 2/3 to Romneys 1/3.

The popular vote will be very close - but Obama will certainly win the election.

www.unskewedpolls.com

www.unskewedpolls.com

by mid October, Romney had over 50% by the gallup poll....52% to 45% (and is still over 50%).

In the history of gallup (the most reliable polling)...NO candidate with a 50%+ lead by mid October has EVER lost a presidential election.

ecorob's picture

these numbers are LIES...

how can they be true?

see my post above...

1) if EVERY republican in the nation voted for romnie he gets 51%

2) how many percentage points will he be lacking from Ron Paul folks and 3rd party defectors

3) early voting for oBOMBya has been astoundingly heavy in all of the cities

romnie gets 42%, at best, 35% at worst

BELIEVE your own math and NOT these lying polls...

Krugman = Shill

Paul: STFU.

The polls have favored Obama

The polls have favored Obama all along, only recently starting to get close.

The news has catered to their audiences in depicting how it is going. Fox makes it seem like Obama is pulling out all stops to beat Romney. CNN makes the opposite appear true.

But the bottom line is that Obama used to have the backing of the major banks, especially Goldmann Sachs, and Romney has now received their support.

All of the rest is just a show. I will be very surprised if Romney doesn't win.

I can't really seem to give a crap either way though.

landslide for Romney.

landslide for Romney. America still loses either way.

My silver probably takes a nosedive with a Romney victory...but that's actually a blessing for the serious long term stacker. I'm buying silver for the day that it is no longer priced in fiat currency.
