Media, White House owes preppers & survivalists a massive apology in the aftermath of superstorm Sandy

(NaturalNews) In the wake of superstorm Sandy, preppers are the new prophets. Those who failed to prepare are the new homeless.

For as long as we can all remember, preppers and survivalists have been derided by the mainstream media, labeled "kooks" and "wing nuts" for stockpiling food, water, ammunition, medical supplies and emergency gear. Only paranoid conspiracy theorists engage in evil preparedness activities, we were told by the sellout mainstream media, and they've convinced many that preppers may even be terrorists.

The very word "stockpiling" has been used in a derogatory manner, as if it's somehow bad for private citizens to stockpile food, medicine and emergency supplies that might save lives in a crisis. Never mind that the government stockpiles all these things for its own survival; citizens are routinely taught that stockpiling is bad!

Suddenly all that has changed. In the aftermath of superstorm Sandy, preppers are the ones who aren't starving, freezing or begging the government to come save them with emergency supplies.

That is simply amazing...

Preppers are called all kinds of bad names until some horrible event takes place, and then they are the smart ones.

Don't need an apology

I neither seek not desire an apology; I don't "prep" for the laudations of others but for the protection of my life and the lives of those I love. That said, this should certainly be used as evidence to defeat the stereotype that peppers are terrorists which is at the foundation of several laws and profiling programs.

Unlearning and self-teaching since 2008. Thanks, Dr. Paul!

We're still being demonized.

Now we're "hoarders" and "price gougers", and still the enemy of all good lemmings everywhere.

Indeed. "Saving" has

Indeed. "Saving" has positive connotations so when people save food, medical supplies, gold, and ammo they are not called "savers", they are called "hoarders". Likewise "house" has positive connotations so when the government wants to send in a SWAT team your "house" suddenly becomes a "compound". Always be aware of how the government and its compliant media use language to control minds.

This article went off the rails

"Remember: Every government wants to become like North Korea, where it dominates everything in society, controls all the resources and commands citizens as if they were slaves. The U.S. government is no different: Like every government, it thirsts for unlimited power."

...

"When that scenario unfolds, it's a simple matter of fact that we're going to see the mass death of liberal media worshippers and Big Government worshippers who refused to prepare. The survivors will, by and large, be the preppers who planned ahead."

So is the government plan to enslave or annihilate?

The article started well enough, then defeated itself. It could have been reasonable, showing how being prepared was cheaper and a lot easier than not, but no, it had to go right into wild speculation about extinction level events and the like.

There's no wild speculation.

There's no wild speculation. All governments try to enlarge their scope and power. It's in the nature of things. The people within government who do these things are not James Bond movie super villains -- they are all too ordinary people who honestly believe they are doing the right thing. They really believe we'll be better off under their benevolent control. After all, people don't usually run for a government office unless they're control freaks. (Ron Paul is the exception that proves the rule -- note that in the past 30 years our federal government has had just one Ron Paul.)

Already Americans have to go through electronic strip searches to get on an airplane. Hell, even the Nazis didn't do that. Preppers get put on the "no fly" list. The NSA spies on all your email and internet traffic, violating the 4th Amendment on an industrial scale. And when the government has control over food distribution it can and will use that as a weapon against its "enemies" during times of crisis, just as North Korea has done. If you voted for Ron Paul, you're one of those "enemies".

Well, thanks for replying

Well, thanks for replying instead of downvoting. Or at least for replying in addition to downvoting.

Noam Chomsky wrote in Manufacturing Consent that the extent of our ability to participate in interactive media would be to give thumbs up or down on something, such as a play in a football game.

> Already Americans have to go through electronic strip searches to get on an airplane. Hell, even the Nazis didn't do that.

We can be sure they would have if the technology existed.

> Preppers get put on the "no fly" list.

Recently a prepper was indeed put on the no-fly list. So far the fact that he's a prepper seems like the only plausible explanation. Are there any other known examples?

> The NSA spies on all your email and internet traffic, violating the 4th Amendment on an industrial scale.

Yes, it does. There is no refuting this. I know that CSIS has been doing the same in Canada for over the decade. This has not been reported publicly. I've been told by people who would know that this is happening in the UK as well. It seems there is nowhere to run. The best one can do is cause your traffic to egress where the locals don't care about you. And that gets more difficult and complicated each day.

> And when the government has control over food distribution it can and will use that as a weapon against its "enemies" during times of crisis, just as North Korea has done.

OK, I see where you're going with this.

Does the United States government have control over food distribution within the US? Well, since it has all the guns and badges it controls everything.

Is it reasonable to say it will use it as a weapon? Yes, of course, it will use anything as a weapon. Then it boils down to who its enemies are.

> If you voted for Ron Paul, you're one of those "enemies".

Glenn Greenwald has aptly defined a terrorist as "he who effectively opposes the will of the U.S."

I haven't even been able to refute even a single one of your points.

That must mean Mike Adams isn't being unreasonable, even if I don't like how he's saying it.

I didn't mark you up or down,

I didn't mark you up or down, let your post stand on its own merits.

"Does the United States government have control over food distribution within the US? Well, since it has all the guns and badges it controls everything."

Yes, and more particularly Obama has signed an executive order where under the name of "national defense" the government can seize essentially all resources, including food:

http://www.naturalnews.com/035301_Obama_executive_orders_foo...

So if you stockpile food for your family, and perhaps a few neighbors that you know and trust, don't be surprised if "in a time of crisis" the government confiscates your food to distribute it as it sees fit, "for the better good", of course.

So my best advice is to be a prepper by all means, be ready for natural disasters, civil unrest, and hard times, but keep your head down and don't let the government know what you're doing.

It's hardly speculation of any kind

I mean, I've/we've been hearing and learning about the depopulation agenda from dozens, hundreds of sources, for nearly 20 years.

Obviously you are either an extreme New-B or a desperate troll to think these things are 'wild speculation' off the top of Mike Adams' head.

So which is it - newbie or troll?

You are the one who's new here

Just because you disagree with my opinion is no reason to call me names.

I am aware of the depopulation plans, and I believe supporters of that idea are deadly serious about it.

Doesn't change my opinion on the article.

Sorry. Meant to edit out that last part after reading your post

history and learning that you are indeed a veteran Ron Paul follower of 20 years as I am.

Sorry about the bad call.

Whip it out we'll see who's longer!

If you've been listening to Dr. Paul for 20 years then you've been listening 4 times longer than I have. But what does that matter? Isn't how we act more important than how long we've been listening to one man?

What I admire most about Ron Paul is his steadfast refusal to demagogue any issue. Even debating a raging Neocon-Hitler-Keynesian-Stalinist, what's the point of calling names? We've been listening to and admiring him for years, and we should be able to follow his example in our own discourse. So, thank you for your apology. I forgive you. I've been far from perfect myself.

"The First Shot You Hear Will Be Your Only Warning"

Mike mentions in the article that people/preppers are serving as volunteer security for their neighborhoods.

Seems only fair that signs should be posted around these neighborhoods:

maybe I am wrong

But didn't the NDAA say storing a weeks worth of food make you a terrorist? Or something close to that?

Thumbs up

Well said buddy.

Good for them, but don't

Good for them, but don't expect anything but being added to any number of watch lists.

You make a good point

People must know that preppers groups/organizations are watched by DHS agents pretending to be preppers.

Now that's funny, I don't

Now that's funny, I don't care who ya are. Where's your proof? My prepper friends would NEVER let anyone they don't know anywhere near them so there is no chance that DHS has people infiltrating prepper groups. Preppers are very tight knit communities formed by people who have been friends for a long time. They don't just let anyone who wants to join them come in.

Every day you seem more and more like a DHS guy here

Seemingly the only “crime” Hicks has committed that would end in revocation of his ability to fly is his affiliation with the Mississippi Preparedness Project, a prepper organization. Although prepping is not illegal, the FBI has been cracking down on preppers for awhile now, with everything from spying on people who visit prepper websites to straight up stripping preppers of their Second Amendment rights.

Scram.

It's one thing to make your point, it's another to accuse a fellow patriot of being a DHS agent with no good reason.

You're either a troll or completely tactless, and either way we're all sick of you. I, personally, AGREE with your point about being watched - DHS, FBI, etc. are all very clever and use filthy tactics like that on a regular basis. What I don't agree with is making a mockery of the liberty movement by needlessly harassing people with insults and name-calling.

We're all tired of your crap; you're just on here to divide. You've made that abundantly clear lately.

You said "by DHS agents

You said "by DHS agents pretending to be preppers." and being watched because you are a prepper and infiltrated by someone pretending to be a prepper are two different things entirely. We are all watched, but preppers that I know will never be infiltrated.

Dream on

Do you remember Browns family anti-tax protesters?
Couple of guys came voicing support and saying they will protect their house from being taken by the IRS and...these were FBI agents.

They can work for a year to gain your friendship and then place you in hand-cuffs just as they did to Browns family.
