MSNBC's Chris Matthews Goes On Obnoxious Rant Against ‘Idiots’ Who Vote 3rd Party Candidates Like 'Numbskull' Gary Johnson

http://youtu.be/zHawfccSrOQ

Are you one of the many voters who feels disillusioned with the two-party system and wants to make your single, solitary voice heard by voting for a third party candidate who is possibly more aligned with your own viewpoints?

If you are, well guess what: YOU’RE AN IDIOT. Says MSNBC’s Chris Matthews.

Appearing on this afternoon’s NOW with Alex Wagner panel on MSNBC, the firebrand Democrat went on a truly sanctimonious, condescending rant against “idiots” (like this writer) who vote for third party candidates or stay home on Election Day....

He is not a write in candidate because there is no such thing by

definition.

He is a "registered write in" which means that some people got together and filled out paperwork saying "Please seperate his votes for those for Mickey Mouse and Jesus when you record them".

That is NOT the same as being a candidate.

Candidates campaign and say "vote for me". Ron Paul didn't do that for a write in.

Candidates, it seems to me,

Candidates, it seems to me, are nominated. It seems to me that some really good people in California got together an nominated Ron Paul. It seems to me that he does not have to campaign to be nominated or to be a candidate.

Unless of course the definition of a candidate is only someone that campaigns, which I do not find so in the dictionary: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/Candidate

can·di·date

noun
1.
a person who seeks an office, honor, etc.: a candidate for governor.

2.
a person who is selected by others as a contestant for an office, honor, etc.

3.
a person who is deserving of or seems destined for a certain end or fate: Such a reckless spender is a candidate for the poorhouse.

4.
a student studying for a degree: Candidates for the B.A. will have to meet certain minimum requirements.

According to definition 2 - both Mickey Mouse and Jesus were

legitimate candidates in 2008 and presumably 2012 - because Mickey Mouse got 11 votes in Rhode Island alone and Jesus got 7.

By your definition ANYONE that is written in is a candidate - including Marilyn Monroe, Rasputin, Pokemon, and Fred Flintstone.

Actually,

by my definition: "It seems to me that some really good people in California got together an nominated Ron Paul. It seems to me that he does not have to campaign to be nominated or to be a candidate. "

Ron Paul was nominated by folks in California and Maine and is therefore a candidate regardless of whether he campaigns. By my definition Mickey Mouse would have to be nominated in order to be a candidate.
-------------
By your definition: "Candidates campaign and say "vote for me". Ron Paul didn't do that for a write in."

Whoever campaigns and says "vote for me" is a candidate and no nomination is necessary so if Mickey Mouse campaigns Mickey Mouse is a candidate.
----------
However you might note the dictionary definition number 1 supports your claim of candidacy and dictionary definition number 2 supports my claim of candidacy

1.
a person who seeks an office, honor, etc.: a candidate for governor.

2.
a person who is selected by others as a contestant for an office, honor, etc.

No. A small number of people went and did a state application

Its not like he was nominated by a big group.

You pay a fee - you get the registration. Not the same as a nomination auquired by votes like in a primary at all.

Why must you maintain this foolish fantasy? He was just a write-in that somebody paid a FEE to register.

What a wonderful concept!

1) What a wonderful concept! Competition! I wonder how many people that "small" number represented? That number of people were then able to vote their conscience and have that vote counted so maybe a larger number of people will take note.

2) However, it also seems to me that a small number of people decided a certain someone should be a presumptive nominee and it didn't turn out so well for them when they tried to herd a large number of people in their direction...that is when competition is stifled.

It seems to me that example 1 a small number of people are using power to provide power to a larger group of people who wanted to vote FREELY for the candidate of their choice..

It seems to me that in example 2 a small number of people represented by tptb in the RNC used their power to steal power from the majority of the people who did not want to vote for the candidate of tptb’s choice. .

Furthermore, I know people in California who were not even going to vote until they found out that Ron Paul was a validated write in.

Personally, I struggled between not voting, voting for Virgil Goode who did not completely represent my views or writing in Ron Paul.

I am thinking perhaps your choice was Gary Johnson if I remember correctly. Gary Johnson is a candidate that was selected by a few people in America who also campaigned and it was your choice to follow that campaign. I do not criticize you for doing that.

It is about freedom of choice. The RNC did not give the people a freedom of choice and hopefully they will see their error since I and my husband, straight ticket Republicans in the past, did not fall into line this year for ANY of the candidates who were offered. As far as I am concerned there was not a single candidate or party who represented me and I am no longer going to cast my vote for someone who does not represent me just because a few people in America decide who my choices will be between.

I am also hoping that I will get off my butt and get involved locally and begin to get other people off their butts to get involved locally so that people have a choice in 4 years…if Liberty in this land from sea to shining see can survive another 4 years.

If you have any pull in the Libertarian Party, I suggest that you let them know that there are some people that are not going to fall in line for that party either.

There is a Ron Paul 2012 Platform which many fell behind. The wheel doesn’t need reinvented.

...

So if a small number of people had registered Jesus, you would

consider him a candidate too?

If I lived in California maybe I would register Casper the Friendly Ghost.

Would be cool to be able to say (by your definition) Casper the Friendly Ghost is a write in candidate for President in California.

Oh yes, he's been "nominated".

Strawman Argument

Neither Jesus, nor Casper are constitutionally qualified candidates and therefore could not be valid nominees

http://www.archives.gov/exhibits/charters/constitution_trans... :
No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

They are still ignoring Ron

They are still ignoring Ron Paul to this day.

What did you expect?

He isn't a candidate.

Writing his name in is like writing in Jesus.

It does nothing.

But there will be a lot of

But there will be a lot of write ins for him and it could affect the outcome. Duh!

Hello? Troll? Is that you

Hello? Troll? Is that you following me around? I love it when you down vote me! Please...do it a gain.

You are Exactly right!

My response to Matthews

I'm ok with this...

Because Chris Matthews said it. His an irrelevant airhead.

What a Wanka

Paid to inflame.

Matthews is an even bigger

Matthews is an even bigger idiot than I thought and I didn't think that was possible. I have news for him. Being able to vote for a candidate you believe in is the definition of democracy.

Lenin called Chris Matthews

Lenin called Chris Matthews and his type "useful idiots" for their blind support of him while he killed millions. I am glad I am a useless one.

I predict mathews ratings

tanking even further then they already have

......

Chris Matthews you're the idiot..........

Elections have been screwed up, he says? Well, GOOD!

Matthews said people voting third-party have "screwed up" so many elections. Well, GOOD!

I hope everyone writing in Ron Paul, or voting for Gary Johnson, or others "screw up" this election real bad. I could care less whether Romney or Obama get the shaft because of third-party votes. Regardless of whether Romney or Obama wins this election, in the long run, YOU LOSE. Either one of them is going to deliver a big, status-quo, shizit sandwich upon us all; and we're all going to have to take a big bite. I refuse to be a part of the status-quo.

NO, Mr. Matthews, I do NOT have two choices, either Republican or Democrat ... I have MY CHOICE. I really wanted Ron Paul. But, after much consideration with respect to my voting circumstances, my choice was for GARY JOHNSON. You got that?

If my vote causes either Romney or Obama to lose Florida. GOOD!

Oh, and ..|.p (that's flipping the bird) back to all those people who gave me the finger earlier this year during the primaries, when I stood out there on the street corners waving my Ron Paul sign. Yeah ... right back atcha. When the debt crisis eventually kicks in big time and hits us all really hard ... yeah, you just take a BIIIIG ol' bite of that shizit sandwich we tried to warn you about, and head off at the pass. Only two choices, my ass.

Matthews must be feeling that tingle

today.

LOL

...Chrissy doesn't like it when people don't take his bullcrap seriously, eh? "Don't you know this is the most important election since 1860!...derp a derp a derp." Hahahaha

Lean forward dumba$$, till you fall on your face.

Chris Matthews is such a nitwit!

What a moron

This guy is a douchebag to the nth degree... I agree.. We should all flood him with mail and phone calls and the like just to let him know we wont take it anymore... In fact, we should start an entire campaign to force him to resign... Lets blow this issue out of the water like the left does at times, and make it a real hot and touchy topic.. Lets contact all the advertisers of this network, and inform them of our campaign... Anyone willing to go the extra mile and smear this piece of dirt?

Yup!

Come on, let's flood him with

Come on, let's flood him with hatemail. This idiot deserves it.
