When Johnson polls less than 5%

When Johnson finishes with less than 5% of the national popular vote, can we all agree to continue with the Paul plan of taking over the Republican Party and using it as a vehicle to restore liberty? Obviously the LP is a waste of resources. Hopefully this is proof.

I've been trying my best to describe the political science

behind why America has always been and always will be a two-party system and nobody wanted to listen. Google single-member-district plurality.

Quite the opposite

If this proved anything, it's that Dr. Pauls approach of hand-feeding liberty to conservatives in small bites was a waste of time. You people are too ignorant and superstitious to understand what he tells you. You just worship him like an idol and then turn against everything he stands for the moment he withdraws from the stage, each competing with the next to put your words into his mouth.

This is a retarded thread

Why does it have to be either/or??
Why put limits on what we can do??
Can we not do both??
Will you respect anyone's decision to try to change this country for Liberty's sake in their own way??

Such divisiveness...this thread is retarded and only alienates Liberty loving people.

YOU ARE ACTING LIKE THE GOP LOSERS NOW, whats to replace when you got that attitude, you will meld right in....

What?

Who is forcing you to do anything. I am giving my oppinion. You have every right to waste your time and resources. I believe liberty is best served via the Republican Party, which today is wildly weaker than it was yesterday. If you are going to be involved in the political process then forget the LP and Join up in the Republican party, take it over like the religious fanatics did not that long ago....

Fight for liberty, dont hide in the LP.

The LP

Look guys, I love the idea of a third party as much as anyone. But lets face facts. The deck is so wildly stacked against the LP it cannot possibly be successful. That said, please go back to the GOP and help your state do what they did in Iowa, Maine and Minnesota. In 4 years time we should go from a handful of states for liberty to 20. Get to work. You have 4 years.

For Liberty

I dunno, GJ SMEARED our votes over 2008

We got about 42,000 write ins counted last time and Johnson will have about 1.1 MILLION votes this time.

So how about that whole strategy of actually getting a man on the ballot that's serious about taking office?

Be brave, be brave, the Myan pilot needs no aeroplane.

Gary barely got 3% in the

Gary barely got 3% in the state where he was a popular governor for two terms. That about says it all.

Ron Paul 2012 - It's Almost Here!

Short of all

It only says that voters in New Mexico are as stupid as voters in general.

The trouble with liberty is that those other people will do disgraceful disgusting things with it.

Gawd only intended liberty for righteous Druids.

Paul's plan was for a Republican party

The GOP is officially no longer a republican party, did you forget the rules changes? They are now openly top down and grassroots will not influence them. The LP today is pretty much a subsidiary of Koch Brothers, wouldn't surprise me in the least if (and it's a very big if as to if there will be another election) they runRyan, Sarah or even Newt next time with a big influx of the co-opted tea partiers steered there. The evangelicals most likely will end up in the constitution party voting for Santorum.

If you mean joining the LP is

If you mean joining the LP is a waste of resources, I'd agree. However, the LP along with other minor parties served a very useful purpose, i.e. denying one of the major parties a win. Although the 5% never materialized for the LP in 2012 due to the extreme polarizing effect of both Obama's and Romney's agendas *, the ~ 1% to 2% of the vote cost Romney the election and won't be forgotten by the GOP. Although the LP won't receive federal matching funds for 2016, they'll definitely have more political influence when the dust finally settles on the general election of 2012. In Montana, the vote for the Libertarian candidate for senator might also play a role in the defeat of Rehberg. If one looks at the aftermath of this election, the role of 3rd parties in denial of wins of one of the major parties will be quite extensive at all levels.

* Voters in 2012 were MUCH less inclined to stray from the one of the major parties. Republicans largely hated Obama and Democrats largely hated Romney so neither TYPICAL voter from either party strayed into the domain of 3rd parties.

I am SO glad

I am SO glad that I voted my conscience. I will sleep awesomely well tonight :-)

"What if the American people learn the truth" - Ron Paul

Me too!

High five!

The world is my country, all mankind are my brethren, and to do good is my religion.
-Thomas Paine

Does anyone know what % went

Does anyone know what % went to third parties? I never saw percentages listed for Romney and Obama so I could figure out %s of third parties.

Politico.com election site is

Politico.com election site is including third parties. 3.3% in New Mexico is Johnson's best showing. He's prob just over 1% nationwide.

"Where liberty is, there is my country." -Benjamin Franklin

That sucks. I love how he

That sucks. I love how he polls like 4-5% nationwide on the phone, but then it comes time to vote and people stay home or bite the bullet and vote for one of the two stooges. Oh well.

The local scene is where we can have a real impact anyways. Time to get working on that I guess.

It appeared briefly on

It appeared briefly on CNN...The nationwide total was 49 and change to 49 and change...The third party vote total will end up being less than 1.5% nationwide.

Ron Paul 2012 - It's Almost Here!

Forget 5%...Gitmo Gary is

Forget 5%...Gitmo Gary is going be lucky to even get to 1% tonight..

The LP is a waste of time. We must takeover the GOP or we have no future at all...Of course Ron has been saying that all along...Hopefully now we will listen.

Ron Paul 2012 - It's Almost Here!

Impossible. The rules changes

Impossible. The rules changes have become permanent. The GOP is DEAD. It is completely impossible to "take it over" now. It is closed to grassroots. It is a dictatorship, not a democracy. We no longer have a say. I'm not sure how else to put it so you can understand. They literally do not listen to us, we have no input, it CAN NOT happen!

You clearly do not understand

You clearly do not understand what it means to takeover. :)

It's our only option. All indy's combined are going to end up with less than 1.5%. Gary Johnson, the two-term popular governor of New Mexico, could barley deliver 3% for the Libertarian Party in his home state of New Mexico.

Taking over the GOP is our only option and we have to start now. No time to rest. The countdown to the Iowa caucuses has begun.

If we deny truth before your very eyes, then the rest of what we have to say,is of little consequence

That's because she tried to convince us all to vote for Romney

Otherwise, I agree with much of what she says. Gary "Going Viral" Johnson couldn't even get 5% in the state where he was governor. The LP is a dead-end and we have to keep plugging away at reforming the GOP. We made good progress this year regardless of the horrible negative events that occurred.

With liberty and justice for all...who can afford it.

That is not true

All I have done is explain as a way to educate, hat my experience has been since I joined the GOP to become a national deleagate for Ron paul, which lead me to get elected to a committee seat, that had me sign a loyalty oath that had me openly support Romney or lose my seat. I also shared what good I found in it, as Ron paul also teaches us to find what is good.

I could care less who anyone voted for because I believe elections are rigged.

I will continue to post about my GOP experiences, and I will continue to ask others to see their local GOP for themselves.. so to a meeting, even as a guest, and see what it really is for yourself.

Gary "Going Viral" Johnson

LOL

November 6th 2012 I voted for Dr.Ron Paul
"We must remember, elections are short-term efforts. Revolutions are long-term projects." ~ Ron Paul

Forget 5%, he's scraping the ceiling of 1% right now

How's that for viral. Ron Paul is the real "virus" and we are all infected by him. Gary may have a mild Ron Paul cold, but we have full-blown Ron Paul AI........uhhhh, this metaphor is getting weird; I'm going to bed.

With liberty and justice for all...who can afford it.

Let's not forget Diebold though

Yep. ... This is where I'm headed.

I'm becoming more anarchocapitalist every day. I hear Lew Rockwell and I think: "yep, it sounds crazy but ya just can't argue w/ the logic..."

Me as well.

I can't believe someone voted you down . . . wow.

Magna est veritas, et prevalebit. Truth is most powerful, and will ultimately prevail.

Flawed logic

Perhaps, if the GOP shills pushing the "write-in" campaign and those that followed had voted for Johnson it would be a different story. Perhaps, if we had raised a few million in a money bomb to get commercials on television it would be a different story. Perhaps, if energy had been spent getting independents and lackluster Obama supporters involved it would be a different story.

No matter what - it is not "obvious". We were played, as usual. "Played like a Benton" (copywrited)

"In the beginning of a change the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot."--Mark Twain
