You make it sound like that's a *good* thing

but all it shows is that the error was in that earlier step of promising to endorse the party nominee no matter who it is. That's the moral equivalent of signing a blank check and handing it to a stranger. Given the record of GOP nominees there was a strong possibility that his promise would be a promise to support an anti-liberty candidate. That's a promise that shows very poor judgment.

Nobody forced him to make that promise. His dad never made any such promise, obviously, and for good reason. Rand should have followed that example.

What did he get out of it? A speech? Face time on national TV? The speech wasn't even Rand's own words. What Ron said, when given that opportunity, was: “It wouldn’t be my speech. That would undo everything I’ve done in the last 30 years. I don’t fully endorse him for president.” Rand should have followed that example as well.

*At best* Rand said things he didn't believe to be true in exchange for some perceived political gain. That makes him a cynical, calculating politician like so many others, but one with a liberty-oriented voting record. I hope he stays in the Senate, and I hope his political calculations in the future remain limited to saying words he doesn't believe.

Would Rand be in the Senate without the GOP?

I'm sorry, but without the GOP Rand wouldn't be in the senate and Ron would never have gotten in the house. Rand isn't stupid and I'm sure he's got more moral fiber than both of us combined. What did he have to gain by endorsing his dad? His supporters would keep supporting him. What did he have to gain by supporting Romney? Trust and status in the GOP, something Ron has never had and will never have at the expense of you being pissed at him. I surely hope you would vote for Rand if he gets the nod in 2016, but I have a funny feeling all of you jackasses will keep writing in Ron after he dies.

Being in the GOP is one thing

endorsing an anti-liberty candidate is something else altogether.

Ron did the former, and warned against the latter. Rand gained nothing by ignoring that advice.

I'm not sure the "happy" endorsement was the worst part.

Do you not remember that Rand had an ugly attitude when people didn't like it?

Did he have no sense of how sickened people would be at that point in time? We had all been promised by RP that he was going all the way. Then suddenly the rug was yanked out from under us.

And then for Rand to get an attitude and be defiant against the fallout. Shaking head...

What you fail to understand

is that most of America doesn't think like us. Our ideas of ending wars and such are very radical to most people, and most other people immediately stop listening when we discredit the mainstream presidential choices so passionately. They do not believe the system is rigged and they believe they get most of the truth from the media. Rand endorsing Romney makes him seem normal unlike his father who Rudy Giuliani made most people think Ron is a crazy 911 truther. People will never accept the 911 crap just like the Kennedy assassination so get over it. You're only hurting the movement with these stupid attitudes. Rand is better than 99% of anyone who has ever run for anything and unless he runs against Ron you better vote for him

Funny you keep lambasting 9/11 truth...

...where no one is even talking about it.

You are doing it here and on your hypocritical thread where you claim to be sick of the ridicule of our fellow libertarians.

You call for us to get along, yet you're going out of your way to pick fights. :(

Who the hell would make such

Who the hell would make such a ridiculous promise?

Anyone who's ever been sponsored by the GOP

Do you think the GOP just shits out dollars to people who say they want to run? No, just like Goldman Sachs doesn't give 1000000 for a campaign until some promises are made. Rand wouldn't have the opportunity to fight for freedom if not for the support of the GOP.

If we can make it there, i

If we can make it there, i will be in 100%

For now he's out

Last night I was watching for the spin...also today. The FAUX media hacks and other neocon talkers started the 'hope speculation' and spinning how last night will help 'heal' the GOP. A number of names were floated and Rand was nowhere in the mix. Christ they were even pushing that dope Pawlenty again! These jerks get their marching orders and talking points from the RNC. nuff said
I think once Christie stops weeping over Bruce Springsteen he is going to realize he's finished too.
My point is this...all you hear is 'conservative' and the usual names on the republican 'bench'. Three words are not even spoken. Liberty and Rand Paul.

He is out (not mentioned by Fox) because Rand is not with them.

Rand is with us. That speech and endorsement at the RNC was just lip service.

That remains to be seen

I hope you are correct, but even so, my point is that if Rand is the one, you may have to be prepared to go another route than the corrupt GOP because early indications are he is not in their mix. Time will tell I guess.

..why do we need to wait for the MSM to announce that they approve of Rand running?

"Alas! I believe in the virtue of birds. And it only takes a feather for me to die laughing."

I am. Rand 2016

Rand will be our last hope if the current communist doesnt postpone elections before we get a chance. He will head either the GOP or the Liberatarian-Tea Party coalition that will be forming in a year or two.

This is not time to have "purity" pissing contests. Our country is turning hard left, and we may have run out of time.

You are dead on western skier

purity pissing contests will be our demise. We should all know what Rand is doing and understand, unless we are still asleep.

Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must. like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it.-Thomas Paine

The R3volution requires action, not observation!!!!

Yes Indeed

"Alas! I believe in the virtue of birds. And it only takes a feather for me to die laughing."

Rand Paul 2012

ABSOLUTELY not!!!! He sold out by endorsing Romney, and I can't imagine that, father or no, he would be supported by Ron Paul....

Do you know what year it is?

"Alas! I believe in the virtue of birds. And it only takes a feather for me to die laughing."

Rand Paul 2016 may have its own Internet, a truly free Internet

Times are changing.

The Daily Paul is a great site... but it is just an application and database driven web site. Based in Drupal, it is a generic CMS at the core.

Before there was Drupal I traveled the globe building complete integrated CMS environments for global firms.

In four years we will be ready, and though I would hope that the Daily Paul (and you Michael) are still with us (and with Ron Paul, since no doubt he will be supporting his boy).. well we will have the resources, tools and the candidate (Rand Paul) to make a go of it with or without you.

This r3VOLution is not about you or me or any other single person; as much as some would like to make it about themselves and promote themselves to the top.

You have never done that Michael. The Daily Paul has never been about your ego, not then and not now.

Thank you for that and the example you have been to us. I will miss you.

Do you mean...

...that you're currently working on a website, or planning to?

"Alas! I believe in the virtue of birds. And it only takes a feather for me to die laughing."

"Website" suggests only a single protocol and port .

The Internet consists of tens and thousands respectively.

"Website"... No, Ha Ha!

The itnerwebs

is a series of tubes!

Howdy. Interesting story. Before there was Drupal there was Joomla. I used to travel Manhattan building ecommerce systems. That's back before there was OSCommerce. Back before I even knew about PHP.

Building "anothernet" isn't too challenging if one presumes almost infinite funds in a permissive legal environment. Can we lay our own trunk lines across oceans? Sure. All we need is another planet with oceans.

Be brave, be brave, the Myan pilot needs no aeroplane.

No we will use theirs... watch... it is called virtual wire...

...machine routing and wireless layers piggy backing on top of whatever it can find.

I would think that,

Rand would have his own website/facebook where all his supporters can worship daily .!.

Time will tell

I think you are jumping the gun a bit. Let's see how things pan out over the next 2-3 years. We have more important local elections to think about, anyway. The presidential election will not be won until we change the landscape across the entire nation.

With liberty and justice for all...who can afford it.

Amash Woods Napolitano Badnarick Mack...

Amash Woods Napolitano Badnarick Mack there is a slew of guys better than Rand..and Jesse Ventura can take a hike. That nitwit Gary Johnson who smeared Ron Paul with the racist newsletters is going nowhere either. That 1% loser got what he deserved and is no friend to liberty and deceived many.

November 6th 2012 I voted for Dr.Ron Paul
"We must remember, elections are short-term efforts. Revolutions are long-term projects." ~ Ron Paul

I mostly agree.

Rand deserves to at least be on the ticket. He has worked his tail off in the Senate, and deserves our respect. Amash won last night, and thank God.

Yep I'm in

I doubt there will be someone else running that will be close enough to Ron Paul.

I would like to commend Sarah Palin as the only High level Republican other than Ron Paul, to refuse to back Mitt Romney publicly. Cheers

Her political pack earlier in the year did say it would donate $5000.00 to the eventual GOP Presidential nominee, which then became Romney.

I am

Who else do we have to run in 2016?

Winning elections is not an unknown science. Rand is doing everything right to be the GOP nominee in 2016. And I believe we should give him in the benefit of the doubt. Have some faith and trust him.

It's not just Presidential!

It's not just Presidential! State House & Senate, U.S. House & Senate, State Governor, City & County Clerks, City Councils, etc. now we all got to run, run, run, run. No office shall not have a Ron Paul Republican running.
