Winners & Losers: GOP in Deep Trouble, Ron Paul Looking Good

Romney lost today to a guy who is overseeing a horrible economy, prosecuting unpopular wars, and who can barely string 5 words together without a teleprompter. This was the best the Republican Party can do. Not only are the Republicans evil, they're evil and contemptible losers, which is far worse.

The biggest losers tonight are of course people who value peace and freedom, but we would have also lost if Romney won. The GOP is right up there in the loser category, however. The GOP lost seats in the Senate, and did little to improve its position in the House. It has served up two ridiculously bad nominees in a row, claiming "electability" and then going down in flames.

Rand Paul certainly came out of this looking very bad as well. He fell in line behind the party masters, banking on some advantage to be gained through an endorsement of Romney. He ended up just looking politically unsavvy and unprincipled. There is little to be gained either, from playing ball with a Party that as inept as the GOP at this point.

It's not beyond the realm of possibility that the GOP may actually show sign of disintegration in the next several years. The GOP has ceased to present any sort of actual alternative, and worse yet, it can't run a winning candidate. Once that happens, the coalition that makes up your political party will begin to fall apart.

The Ron Paul movement is a big winner here. The GOP told the libertarians in the party to get lost, and the GOP paid for it. Interestingly, both Iowa and Nevada, where Ron Paul supporters gained control of the state party, both went to Obama after the Romney campaign actively fought to disenfranchise Ron Paul supporters. I guess the GOP got what it wanted there.

I posted this article here,

I posted this article here, and I would like to add that I fully support Rand Paul. I have another bold prediction as well - Rand's father, Ron Paul, will fully support his Son as well - FOR PRESIDENT! Get on board now. Recent vote on Iran in the Senate 90-1 ... the 1? RAND PAUL.

Well if he does...

Well if he does support his son Rand for POTUS, I will lose much respect for Ron Paul.

Must be nice

to be perfect.

We are in another war for our Independence.

LOL. Ummm.. Hello, I'm from

LOL. Ummm.. Hello, I'm from Earth - nice to meet you. What planet do you hail from? Can you see Russia from your window, too, like your leader S. Palin?

he voted for sanctions

rand paul voted for iran sanctions: an act of war

Rand Paul never voted for

Rand Paul never voted for Iran sanctions. You are spreading disinfo.

Thomas Jefferson 1796, 1800, 1804; James Madison 1808, 1812; Ron Paul 1988, 2008, 2012; Rand Paul 2016.

I don't believe for a second

I don't believe for a second that Rand would have endorsed Romney if he believed his dad has any chance at winning at that point.

He also predicted a Romney win, but I wonder whether he ever believed that. He had a lot to gain from endorsing Romney and Romney losing. He's going to have a ton of votes behind him if he runs in 2016. The fact that some "liberty" people don't like Rand because he isn't Ron will just make establishment GOPers like him more. That, combined with Obama bringing the country to its knees over the next four years, will make it a cakewalk.

I am greatful...

I am grateful that the Libertarian Party is growing. If Rand is the nominee in 2016, I’ll be most likely voting for the LP nominee.

Lets just give it some time

and watch Rand Paul carefully. If he earns our respect in these next four years, and proves his fidelity to the Constitution, it would be in our best interests to harness the ignorance of the Republican electorate to get him elected - that's like getting a Libertarian in flying under the radar.

Lets just watch and not make any blanket statements "I absolutely will support Rand Paul" or "I will never support Rand Paul" are both equally not yet earned.

We'll be able to tell if Ron Paul is being fatherly or Constitutional in regards to his son when the time comes. That will be a good indication of where Rand's loyalties truly lie.

And what exactly do you wish

And what exactly do you wish to accomplish with that vote? After Ron Paul endorses his SON Rand, are you going to write Ron a letter and say "I got your Son back for you, don't worry - I voted LP - which had no chance to win, and even though you want me to vote for Rand, I won't.. because he was such a naughty boy and needed to be punished!" I think that's a little extreme... don't you?

Not a Republican, the brand is damaged

The Republican brand is damaged. It started falling apart in the 70's via Nixon, Watergate, the San Clemente property purchase scandal. Then the RNC became obsessed with social issues, and could not keep the focus on liberty and conservative finances, including free market capitalism. Then Bush and his "weapons of mass destruction" catastrophe.

As the republican brand was/is tarnishing, they became more desperate to maintain votes, aka the medicare drug program, Romney's medicare plan this year was an obvious ploy to get votes...Then the corruption in this election cycle with Ron Paul and the delegates.

And what with all this character assassination of Obama ?! That is a loser mentality. They can and should have beat him on intellectually discussing his policy (economic and foreign) failures and let him go silently in the night.

Now the party is a parody of it core values...maybe they will indeed collapse. However if they do not re-group and re-think the party it is doomed to be a part of history, instead of making history.

EDIT ADD: Beware of desperate men - as the RNC fades - rules go out the door.

"This isn't what the govern meant"

"Win the crowd and you will win your freedom"

Crying time again

So Obama won. Things wouldn't have changed that much with Romney at the helm. I am seriously thinking of retreat and saying to hell with this country, I'm voting with my feet. Canada is looking better everyday.
I wonder how this election failure is going to play out in the Republican Party? Is the Establishment finally discredited enough for us to begin purging the RINOs and neocons?

9/11 Truth.

everyone keeps talking like these results are real

The truth is, who knows what the real results were. The 2 parties control the voting systems and do all the behind the scenes work. So of course GJ and any other 3rd party candidate's number are going to be changed to what suites the 2 party system. People need to stop acting like the results mean anything.....

Collapse is coming, we all have known this for sometime regardless of which puppet won the election. You know gun control is coming next...I for one will be picking up my AR in the next couple days.Or at least order one while i can.

It's kind of weird, as if the Diebold machines disappeared down the memory hole and all of a sudden, the election outcome is legitimate. And on the Daily Paul, of all places.

Heres a chuckle at the GOP

Rand Paul positioned himself with this endorsement

and now that Romney lost, that positioning will pay off. Rand Paul 2016!!!!

Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must. like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it.-Thomas Paine

The R3volution requires action, not observation!!!!

he lacks charisma

and principles. he makes gary johnson look like a superstar.

He lacks principles? You're kidding of course

Over the past few weeks Rand Paul has been able to speak to many people who knew nothing about him, through his campainging (yes for Romney.) Would you say Ron Paul has more charisma than Rand Paul?As the saying goes, "Get real". Its the message that counts. Rand Paul knows the message and believes it.

We are in another war for our Independence.

Winners and Losers?

Winner : Ron Paul, message of liberty

Loser : Rand Paul*, Gary Johnson**

* Rand Paul should just kept quiet. We ALL knew if Ron Paul was not nominated then Obama was going to win. Rand Paul alienate A LOT of Ron Paul supporters

** Gary Johnson got less than 1%. I have nothing against Gary Johnson but his target of getting 5% did not came true so....

If we watch the Morning Joe this morning it was clear they know we (the Ron Paul supporters) had a major impact on the election. It was a MISTAKE that Rand supported Romney when his dad was STILL in the running. It was a MISTAKE that Rand campaigned for Romney.

Gary Johnson was shooting for

Gary Johnson was shooting for 5%, but I think everyone knew it was a long shot. He got the most votes ever for an LP candidate, and only Ed Clark got a (slightly) higher percentage of the popular vote. Considering he was a third party candidate, he was pretty successful

Sorry but the BIG winner is Rand Paul,

the big losers are the GOP country club that shoved Romney down everyone's throats, they're done it's just a matter of time and that's where we have an opportunity.

9/11 Truth.

Rand Paul did NOT come off badly.

The only people who came off looking politically "unsavvy" are the Rand bashers who can't seem to think beyond middle school level politics.
The political advantage he was looking to gain was in the future. That future could still be very bright for him and our movement.

Its not his fault that the big "L" Libertarians (who couldn't get their candidate elected dog catcher) are so "principled" that they would rather destroy the political career of the best U.S. Senator we have had in decades simply because he made a meaningless endorsement in a meaningless campaign.

The Virtual Conspiracy

The problem is...

The problem is that Rand showed us his soul and it was very ugly and objectionalble. We all now know the real Rand and will not allow him to continue his ruse.

NADER has some comments about RAND

he would never make these comments (or ever have to) about RON who he respects greatly

I agree that too much is made

I agree that too much is made of Rand Paul's endorsement of Romney. He made it clear from the start that he was merely upholding his promise to endorse whoever got the Republican nomination, a pure act of political backscratching, which, however unsavory it may appear, is necessary in Washington if you want to get some cooperation from your peers. What really matters is how Rand votes, and most of the time he's been pretty good -- a whole lot better than most of those other guys.

Ya, Rand is just a little bit of a whore.
