The Liberty Message is poised for success. But ONLY if we approach others with love and respect

UPDATE: http://www.dailypaul.com/262313/14-million-opportunities

Let me offer some suggestions for what NOT to do today if we want to make progress in the future.

We should NOT be gloating, gleeful, spiteful or generally nasty to our republican friends.

I am not even calling or writing any of my family or friends today because I know that they are ABSOLUTELY, SUICIDALLY DEVASTATED today. The best approach is to leave them alone, sympathize if they call, and try to get them through the darkness.

ONLY THEN will they be open to the message you are trying to spread later.

And I believe that ALLLLLLLL of those Republicans who were Tea Partiers, and were not at ALL happy to have Romney as their nominee will be RIPE FOR THE PICKING later, as they see what compromise got them. They WANT liberty and fiscal responsibility, but in the passion of an election didn't have time or energy to ABSORB the message fully or to "take a chance" on being "different".

NOW they will be searching for answers, and we are ready to guide and teach them, but only if we have not become the SALT IN THEIR WOUNDS.

If you kick a dog while it is down it is VERY unlikely that it will ever trust you again. Today is a day to leave them be, try to sympathize with them if they call you, and be LOVING and RESPECTFUL of just how horrible they feel.

Can we be the Revolution of LOVE, or will we ruin our future chances to grow the message for a few moments of vicious glee.?

I agree 100% Great post, and thank you.

We need to show love and compassion.

Is it the easy way? No, but I think it's the only way to win hearts. The time is now to change how we view and approach one another.

How much more convincing can we be when we show grace and compassion in the face of all that has been dealt to us? Not everyone will appreciate it, but you can only lead a horse to water. The rest is up to them.

Wake up and smell the coffee!

Wake up and smell the coffee! The Republicans love big government and hate Liberty, that is why they rejected Ron Paul and call us "Paultards".
No amount of love or respect can get the message to these zombies!
Trying to convert them is like shoveling shit against the tide.
They will only wake up when the shit hits the fan, when the dollar is worthless, and off we go in cattle cars.

1 Corinthians 13 KJV

13 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

1 Corinthians 13

13 If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[b] but do not have love, I gain nothing.

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

James Madison

I personally think we need to

I personally think we need to CLUB LIBERTY OVER THE HEADS of the Republicans in Congress starting NOW! The people get it, they don't... but, they might start to listen... now that they've lost...

This is what C4L is doing.

Do it. Don't talk about it!

I haven't had any luck talking to folks

sometimes I think we are trying to force the sun the rise or the tide to recede. I'll keep talking, as the bird chirps to the sunrise, but I know big things only happen in God's time.

Nice observation

Nice observation, I like your thoughts.

"In the beginning of a change, the Patriot is a scarce man, Brave, Hated, and Scorned. When his cause succeeds however, the timid join him, For then it costs nothing to be a Patriot.” ~Mark Twain

Yes ... and No.

For those Republicans who honestly want to see a smaller government that abides by the Constitution, yes by all means be nice because we are on the same team. They just chose a bad solution because they did not take the time to educate themselves. Some of those people are so stubborn that they are a lost cause, but some can come around.

However ...

When it comes to the Democrats who really, really, really believe that government bureaucrats should be dictator for everyone's life, it is time we STOP THE BULL. It is time we call them out and CALL THEM IMMORAL.

Those people are SCUM. They believe in nasty, dangerous, and evil ideas that DESTROY PEOPLE LIVES -- and they are too stupid and/or arrogant to realize it.

After TWICE electing Obama, I have no more sympathy nor empathy with any true blue statist. They are IMMORAL and they must be SHOCKED into thinking about why they think what they do.

They have no problem being mean to everyone else -- I see no reason to be pacifists in this arena. Be blunt. Be nasty, if necessary because they will take any argument against them as being nasty anyway. They must be set straight if this whole thing is going to turn around.

THEY are the problem.

well all know that feeling when things dont go our way...especially when its due to FRAUD. Understand that that person really does care about his/her country and the direction its going. So much in desperation that they were willing to compromise their very vote to do everything in their power for a better change. We all want change as Republicans and when Elephants fight, it's the grass that suffers.

Too many adults today act like children when they are confronted with any real substantive thought process.

Oh, if it is just an opinion about their favorite food or who should win American Idol, they can talk and talk because it is their opinion about their own preference. They can't be "wrong." How could I tell you that you don't like the color you say you do? Personal preferences cannot be debated -- and most people today treat politics like that.

But if we are going to debate a topic of what is right or wrong, what is objectively true or not, then many people are emotionally incapable of having a discussion. My family has people who I have never had a substantive discussion with because they end it within a few seconds. They can't deal.

It's called cognitive dissonance.

"Too many adults today act like children when they are confronted with any real substantive thought process."

That's called cognitive dissonance.

There are specific successful methods for overcoming it. Bopping people on their heads is not one of them.

That was awesome

Very well said. Thank you! I would only add, just avoid and do not waste time on the ones who are stubbornly determined to continue in their folly. Sensitivity and patience should help us truly see the difference. It should be interesting.

and different levels of love.

I don't worry too much about tender feelings when confronted with homicidal maniacs. Funny how those who beat people and mace, tase and jail people seem similarly unconcerned.

A compassionate approach to seeing a busload of children headed for a cliff might involve aroma therapy candles in an intimate sit-down but it's not gonna do much for the kids.

Still a lot of waking up to do

A woman at work who likes to believe that she knows all and is totally hip and with it, not a big Otard supporter - was looking at Facebook on her phone and says "Ugh, I'm so sick of this crazy election crap like Obama's the end of the world, he's going to take away our guns, etc., etc.,

I said well he did sign NDAA after he said he wouldn't, and he did it on New Year's Eve when no one was paying attention.

NDAA? What's that?

The ability of the US military to arrest and indefinitely detain Americans without a lawyer or a trial.

She and the people around laugh at me. "And where are you getting this information?" In a condescending tone.

It's all over the internet.

Yeah, uh huh (she and everyone else in the office still believe the news tells the truth, and you can't trust any information unless it comes from mainstream media!)

Sent a bunch of links.

Well, I'm sure that's just for like war, or hurricane Sandy.

Um. OK.

truth is his middle name!

And whatever you do, don't

And whatever you do, don't talk about writing in Ron Paul and the virtues of private defense agencies. Nobody outside of DP/Mises.org actually takes that seriously.

I don't know if you're being sarcastic...

...but that's entirely true. I'm an anarcho-capitalist myself, but there's absolutely no hope of convincing a neocon to support such things, it's a waste of time. First convert him to a moderate libertarian/Constitutional conservative. When the US government is returned to its Constitutional role, then we can talk about going further toward minarchism or anarcho-capitalism.

It's funny actually, the talk about supporting Rand requiring one to compromise one's principles. The people who say this apparently don't realize that for a lot of libertarians, voting for RON requires us to compromise our principles, as even he is advocating for more government than we would like.

As long as we're moving toward liberty, I'm not going to give up a chance for a big step in the hopes of an unrealistic giant leap. So I for one will continue supporting people like Ron, people like Rand, even people less-libertarian if that's all we have available.

We need to be big-tent libertarians.

"Alas! I believe in the virtue of birds. And it only takes a feather for me to die laughing."

I'm not an

I'm not an anarcho-capitalist, I'm a libertarian conservative, probably closer to Hayek than anyone else. Therefore, you'd consider me a filthy statist but I'm not looking for a debate.

As I said, big-tent libertarianism

"Alas! I believe in the virtue of birds. And it only takes a feather for me to die laughing."

just had the most meaningful

discussion with my Mom that i think i've ever had. for some reason she was receptive to a discussion based on constitutional principles.
i have to say i was amazed.
she was a romney supporter two elections in a row.

It's time

for a real attempt at a new party to replace the Republicans.

Liberty will catch on, but not fully without profound cultural evolution over time.

While there is sympathy for the idea (dollar collapse and Obama win), we need to build a coalition to fight back against encroaching tyranny.

The key is to restart the original tea party coalition to fight republicans and democrats. The 'anyone but Obama' failed miserably and the Tea Party will NOT do a darn thing about debt limits. 2012 is over. There's no more Ron Paul, and no more AnybodyButObama.

But that original coalition of tea partiers, before the 'Tea Party', has no excuse but to now organize.

We were torn apart by internal strife because we're passionate and from diverse backgrounds.

But we ALL want to fight the federal beast and roll it back. I think there's a possibility to organize around that alone.

I strongly disagree...

Our struggle is to win the hearts and minds of voters. How would that task be any easier if we started a new party? Being the GOP nominee comes with automatic media coverage, billions of dollars worth of free advertizing. That is the prize, my friend. We all know that we would win an election in a landslide if only the people heard our message. Win the GOP nomination, and they will hear that message. Win a third party nomination...crickets, no one knows or cares.

I'm not against third parties altogether, I think they make a nice backup plan, something to vote for if we lose Republican primaries, but that is a plan B, or C, or D....our TOP priority must be winning Republican primaries. That's the only realistic path to success for the Liberty Movement.

"Alas! I believe in the virtue of birds. And it only takes a feather for me to die laughing."

Even if the GOP turns socially liberal, but fiscally...

conservative, it will make no difference. I think you all fail to capture what the election results yesterday actually mean - more than half of the populace looks for top down government. It is true that a recent survey of those between ages 18 - 29 yielded that a majority favor socialism over capitalism. Yesterday's election was a rubber stamp for increased socialism - and most people for that economic and governmental philosophy call themselves progressives. Those Progressives do not have positive views towards fiscal and/or social conservatives. That is all you need to know - no Ron Paul liberty ideas or messages are going to change the path America is headed down. The degree you people in here are willing to kid yourselves is annoying and disheartening and sometimes laughable. The best thing you can do now is to find ways to protect your property and wealth and learn to adjust to high socialism. Peace.

But there is another 50%

But there is another 50% percent that does want the fiscal conservatism. We just have to stick to what matters. The biggest problem we face IS the Federal Reserve System and fractional reserve lending. If more people just knew how these groups of people are bankrupting us and stealing our wealth as nation there would be outrage. Think of the times that you have actually gotten someone to wake up to the Federal Reserve and remember how angry they were that this sham has been perpetrated against us. That should be our focus.

Not to be sexist but:
I know plenty of women that are on food stamps and welfare and they are partially supporting the men that they are with. It is the men that want a real change and it is the men that want to go to work but can't find crap. They would gladly take a job making even 15 bucks an hour. To me that isn't enough but there aren't enough jobs paying just that much. It's sad and pathetic that people can't earn a decent wage not even enough to support themselves with out help and they can't pay for rent pay for food or pay for entertainment with the crap jobs that we have now. All because we have been cheated and lied to. Once enough people realize the reasons for our troubles there will be riots in the streets if there is ever a mass awakening. I think it will happen sooner than we know.
