How about a Daily Paul style "Thank You" for the man who taught us about...

Ron Paul taught me so much... and the people I met due to his efforts taught me so much.... Thank you, Dr. Paul, for the lessons in

The Constitution
The Federal Reserve
Fiat currency
The Gulf of Tonkin
The USS Liberty
Major General Smedley Butler

I could keep going for quite a while, but how about some of you take over. What did you learn from the man and the people you met because you supported Ron Paul?

Dr. Paul, you have earned a peaceful retirement and a place in history. You started this love r3volution, sir. While victory is not assured, at least there are soldiers on the battlefield. Thank you, bless you, and I can hardly wait to see what you call "retired."

One for my list - thanks for helping me learn a little more about my own father.

RP and Me

In summer of 2007, I was a in a print shop and couldn't help but hear the attendant behind the counter talking with a male patron in his late 50s. They were talking politics. Eventually I walked by because I was leaving the shop. In response to them, I said, Politics, I can't stand it. All politics does is ruin what isn't ruined. Good luck with politics. This country is finished.

At the time I knew nothing about central banking and the world's bankers. I didn't understand the significance of money, but I'd always considered it important in how the world works. To make a long, complicated story of study short, I learned about money, that the person who said these words -- Give me control of a nation's money and I care not who writes its laws. -- is correct. To control money, currency, is to control what uses it. And what uses it is who uses it, and who uses it are many, many humans.

After I said my comment to the both of them, the attendant, who I'd come to know and befriend, said, Ron Paul, you know who he is? I said no. He said check him out, look into him. As most of you know, probably, research on RP contains a lot of information, a solid deal of it on money and finance, the issues explaining how the world works, how it spins.

One of the first videos I watched was one RP said a word I hadn't heard in years and one I'd not heard any politician say or one I could recall saying it earnestly -- and, as I learned, with a background supporting his saying it. That word? Freedom.

What RP brought me was awareness I wasn't alone and something, someone, to point to to people including my parents, friends and anyone who would listen that, Hey, look! There is someone who understands my frustrations and, probably, your frustrations, look at his record! I can't believe it, I thought, after all these years of observing life's edges and corners eroding and substance growing thin, there is ONE person who says the message and can back it up, you know, there's something tangible, a person, yes, only one person but still, ONE! There is proof someone "gets it"!

Yeah, I was hysterically happy about discovering RP. And other than believing contrary to him about gold and silver, I still am. Go, Ron Ernest Paul. =)

Thanks, fishy, and thanks, Ron.

Confirmation that the way I had lived my entire life was just about right.
I no longer felt like I was alone in the world with the views I held close.
But most of all, not to keep it to myself.
Be not afraid of what others think if I share what I think is right and wrong and stick to my principles no matter what the consequences.

I have been proud to vote for him three times now.

I love my country
I am appalled by my government

What did you learn about

What did you learn about permaculture?

That it existed

There is a member here whose screen name is "permaculture" - he made little comments for about a year before I finally checked to see what he was talking about.

Dr.Paul taught me about the true meaning of liberty.

Ron Paul, the Thomas Jefferson in 21st century

Thanks, Dr Paul,

for living out fidelity and honesty for all to see. Without good character the Constitution just doesn't matter.

The greatest gift Ron Paul gave me,

is optimism, in the face of injustice, cheating, lies, bloodlust, greed, and the globalist "elite". There is still reason to have hope. The idea of freedom can never be taken from us, and it will win.

Ron Paul, you are my hero. Noble and true, mighty and strong, yet gentle and loving. Thank you, for all you have done, and continue to do.

The world is my country, all mankind are my brethren, and to do good is my religion.

Thank you Good Doctor...

Thank you Dr. Ron Paul. For the rest of my life, all future politicians will be judged against the standard you set- in your positions, demeanor, character, and actions.

Thank you for fighting for my Liberty, and thank you for your patience with me as you cured my political apathy.

Proclaim LIBERTY throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof

Voting my conscience, becoming less dependent on ...

statists and big business.......

Did I miss that Texas Straight Talk?

The USS Liberty? I don't think I ever heard him mention that one either.

Perhaps you mean to say thank you to his supporters for those?

allegory - ˈalɪg(ə)ri/ - noun - 1. a story, poem, or picture which can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning, typically a moral or political one.

Ron Paul brought me to this forum.

Everything I learned here, I thank him for bringing me here to hear what the others he brought here had to say. I did thank him and the people who support him. This is about thanking him for gathering those supporters together, because what we learned is already far greater than any of us imagined.

Ron Paul is not retiring from public life.

This may be his most productive time. He will now be doing what he loves doing, teaching people about Constitutional government, free markets and sound money. Peace Prosperity and Liberty.

He has written books and will promote the message even more effectively now that he is outside Congress and has no political restrictions on what he can say. I have noticed of late that he is already becoming more forthright.

He is an historically important figure and I do not believe he is ready to be put out to grass. The contributions he will make to the rEVOLution in the years to come will be essential in keeping his solutions to the present crisis in the public eye. The political platform that he has crafted over the past forty years in public life is the most powerful antidote to the present malaise in America. This is the platform that he has written about and it is the one that all rEVOLutionaries must familiarise themselves with fully absorbing the philosophy that underpins it.

This is what it will take to win the war that is going on for the mind of the American People. Now is not the time to be talking about retiring from the battlefield and I am confident that is not what is foremost on Ron Paul's mind.

"Jesus answered them: 'Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.'" (John 8:34-36)

Just retiring from Congress

and two presidential campaigns, is all!

What have YOU learned?

The spirit of the post was to recognize how many soldiers rallied to Dr. Paul's clarion call, and the many ways we will carry on.... I alluded to my expectations of his continued efforts, said I look forward to seeing what he calls "retirement." Hair splitting aside, he did not win his Congressional seat yesterday, eh did not run for it. He is in the home stretch of a fabulous career from which he IS retiring.
I want to know what YOU will always look back on, and / or move forward toward, and say "This is because I knew Ron Paul."

Primarily how the American system of government works.

Or should I say how it was designed to work and how far it has fallen from that original design. He also introduced me to Austrian economics which to be fair has much in common with the classical economic theory of Adam Smith but has advanced that to a more detailed understanding of human action in the market.

This combination of sound economic and monetary theory and proper Constitutional government are the two main foci of his message and underpin his political platform. It is therefore my view that the dynamic interplay of these two gives rise to true liberty in any society.

The way in which he has carefully defined the limits of government in legislating morality in what is essentially a morally depraved society has also been instructive. His connecting the protection of life with the protection of liberty is seminal in my view and the approach he has proposed to deal with this issue is quite frankly the wisest exposition of the pro-life position I have ever read.

This pretty much sums up what I have personally learned that is genuinely worthwhile as a result of following Dr. Paul.

"Jesus answered them: 'Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.'" (John 8:34-36)

Thank you Ron Paul

for showing me the door in 2007. I walked through it and began learning about common law and how a true republic should be run. It is my hope that many at the Daily Paul follow that same path that leads down the rabbit hole to freedom.

thanks, fishyculture, you're the best!

Ron may be retired now but I imagine he will still be available for comment...I look forward to his continued inspiration even though it will be a little less forthcoming now.
