Rand Paul for President: 2016 - What must he do to earn your trust back? He hasn't earned mine yet.

For Republicans, there is a silver lining to the re-election of Barack Obama. The door is now open for real change in 2016. The recently adopted Romney Rules at the RNC, which would have locked out any true democratic participation and guaranteed eight more years of GOP establishment, top-down, Brahman-style, domination, are now moot. The gate is open.

The change that will be debated in the next presidential election will not be about tax percentages, or troop withdrawal timetables, or welfare for Big Bird, or who should be the next chairman of the Federal Reserve. The change that will be debated will be about fundamentals, about monetary policy, about the philosophical underpinnings of our foreign policy, about the relevancy of the American constitution and where we are headed as a people.

It will not be the red team against the blue team, espousing the same things in different degrees, rather it will be about real differences.

Did the trolls just come on full force?

The Obama supporters must have just recovered from their hangovers. This place is buzzing with nonsense comments right now.

I would look on him positively

If he led a successful effort to REDUCE presidential power, to restrict the very office he intends to run for. That would be something.

he must admit he should have

he must admit he should have supported his Dad all the way up to and including the convention!

I don't mind a drawback to 75

I don't mind a drawback to 75 bases nationwide if it is a step or abolishing foreign aid to our enemies before we can abolish the principle, but if it is Rand's job to play politics, it will be our job to educate, educate, educate about the principles of liberty.

He's got my support!

The best we can do meanwhile is continue to spread the message of liberty and improve ourselves. Go out, get educated and make money. Go and be social, live your life! Build relationships with people in your community and run for office or party leadership if possible. BE the county school boards, the city councils, the mayors and state legislature! All the while, think smartly and be reasonable. Be sharp. Build your image.

Revolution 3.0!

I wouldn't even talk about this unless you folks on

daily paul have taken up active roles in becoming involved in your local GOP cabinet/office positions. The only way we won in Minnesota, Iowa & Maine is we stayed involved in the process since 2008. You folks have to do this in every state and you need to run for City Council & Commissioner spots to get your feet we. If you don't get involved there will be no way to have a clear victory at the National Convention.

I want no association with the GOP and the Republican Party at

this point. Let's not forget the RNC is a private corporation, and the board members cannot be removed by vote.

The GOP is managed and maintained by the RNC.

Any effort to "repair" or ramp up the GOP is an effort to join and, inadvertently, support and give power to the RNC.

I you understood the legal contracts with which the RNC and GOP are established, you will see it doesn't matter how many people are in local or state level positions. The RNC calls the shots in the end and they can sell out in any direction they choose (witness the 2012 Conventions). This is a freedom private companies have.

Some people just can't get it. No matter how many times it's proven. Year after year.

Goodbye GOP!

In other words...

...you want to be politically impotent.

"Alas! I believe in the virtue of birds. And it only takes a feather for me to die laughing."

Exactly I don't know what

Exactly I don't know what people are thinking here.. goodbye GOP.. hello beating a drum at occupy wallstreet while the adults continue to run the country.. get a clue.. or get in the GOP yourself and change the rules so 3rd parties can compete.

FreedomWins, I was a PCP for Ron Paul and I've been in the GOP

since I could vote. About 17 years. My entire family line were GOP voters.

The circular cycle of the party will never end unless the party ends.

The GOP is OVER. Get over it and start educating people on the Constitution and what political Liberty really means.

screw endorsements. ron paul

screw endorsements. ron paul "endorsed" racist language in his newsletters by having his signature on every page.

i only care about voting record, and it is obvious that rand paul is the most articulate and intelligent liberty politician we have right now.

we'd be foolish to not embrace him.

Bullshit. He had PRINTED paper with a signature logo

and they were written in dc while he practiced medicine in Texas. We have seen that his lack of PERSONAL imposition of top down management (his own) can be a flaw as well as a feature in the past campaign, imho, so his own views came through consistently, and it seems it happened there as well. but he was speaking contemporaneously against racism and never 'endorsed' any such thing.

do you think you made a single friend with that comment? How about new enemies?

Integrity means having to say things that people don't want to hear & especially to say things that the regime doesnt want to hear -RonPaul

it was his signature on that

it was his signature on that paper. it is his responsibility to make sure it is being used properly. his signature is essentially an endorsement.

if i have to tell him

he's not my president.

"The two weakest arguments for any issue on the House floor are moral and constitutional"
Ron Paul

Count me in

"Alas! I believe in the virtue of birds. And it only takes a feather for me to die laughing."

"who?" --99% of Americans

--99% of Americans

...eh, these folks who hate Rand so passionately are the same folks who will probably write-in Ron again in 2016, and 2020, and 2024, etc. The incorrigible and the irrelevant. They're not interested in actually changing anything.

"Alas! I believe in the virtue of birds. And it only takes a feather for me to die laughing."

i notice that only the rand supporters

use the word hate. projection much?

I agree.

I agree.

Time and Location noted

A lot.

1) Acknowledge & Apologize

*for alienating his constituency
*for abandoning the campaign

2) Renounce

*the current Republican platform
*the current Republican leadership
*Jesse Benton

3) Engage

*the public on all legislative actions
*and tirelessly challenge the establishment
*by making an unapologetic case for unadulterated liberty

**This would make for a nice start. I surely don't trust the man now. I sincerely hope he has not been bought, but I wouldn't be shocked if he has--based on his Romney surrogacy.

"The rich man writes the book of laws the poor man must defend, but the highest laws are written on the hearts of honest men."

If he did all that, it'd destroy his chances of being the nominee. And being the President. We can get RON PAUL in the White House via his son. Unless we follow your "political advice".

Even Bill Kristol says Rand Paul is a potential candidate. Yet we are so foolishly that we just rant and rave about the impossible.

Why can't you trust Rand until he gets into the White House? What hidden motive against us could he possibly have? He already has fame and money. Maybe he's just smarter than most of us?

I live in Kentucky and it's

I live in Kentucky and it's my opinion he was/is playing another angle to get in on the inside. There is no way the apple falls that far from the tree, or that RP would let it for that matter.

If that's true, I'll just keep playing like I don't trust him

and everyone wins in the end right?

No. You lose in that case. He

No. You lose in that case. He is playing a different game where liars lead the way.

Rand can do a couple of things...

a) apologize n admit it was wrong to openly endorse and campaigned for Romney

b) never ever...and i mean ever recruit or get advise from Jesse "The Traitor" Benton

Doing (a) would defeat the purpose of endorsing Romney in the first place: i.e. to gain the trust of the Republican rank-and-file. I know some of my fellow Paulites will never accept this, but so be it. I'm convinced most in the Liberty Movement get it, and will support Rand when the time comes.

As for (b), I don't agree that Jesse Benton was a traitor who deliberately undermined the campaign, as some suggest. I also don't think he did a half-bad job. That said, I don't see any reason for Rand to hire him. There are plenty of competent campaign staff floating around. If it makes Paulites happy for it not to be Benton, then yea, Rand, don't choose Benton.

"Alas! I believe in the virtue of birds. And it only takes a feather for me to die laughing."

Think we're mind-reading each other

I agree completely with the things you mentioned.

"The rich man writes the book of laws the poor man must defend, but the highest laws are written on the hearts of honest men."

Keep fighting for civil

Keep fighting for civil liberties and non-interventionism.

Rand Paul is his own person and he's allowed to play politics and doesn't have to be a 100% ritually pure Rothbardo-anarcho-liberto-capitalo-rentacopist to be a good candidate. The last thing we need to do is trade practicality for ideology. Aren't ideological anti-statists, robotically chanting "private good, government bad" as dangerous as ideological statists chanting "four legs good, two legs bad"?

I understand the history of libertarianism but as a very conservative libertarian I am going to be very insistent in saying that when we embrace radical ideology instead of practicality and conservatism we risk becoming the Marxists of the 21st century, forcing ideas that never existed beyond paper onto the world and destroying society.
