Is our "democracy" flushing itself down the toilet?Submitted by britterm on Thu, 11/08/2012 - 16:23
Is our "democracy", or "constitutional republic", or whatever you want to call it these days flushing itself down the toilet?
I believe we have come to a crossroads with this election. Never before have so many been on some form of welfare. Never before has a president been re-elected with the kind of record Obama has. I think we've crossed the event horizon.
You see, these people who benefit from the state handouts are heavily biased to vote for Obama, because he will continue handing them out. The deficit will not be solved by Obama, it will be exacerbated.
In a democracy, the majority control the minority. We're so close to a place where the majority are getting a check from the government. In the near future, we're going to see why big government doesn't work, and it's because the people become dependent on it and demand that it continue to grow in an unsustainable fashion.
The real fiscal cliff has been passed. At some point, people will realize that printing money indefinitely is a very bad thing for investment, and interest rates will have to rise to attract investors. This is followed by hyperinflation as the government tries to keep up with it's crushing debt payments, which is followed by the collapse of the fiat USD.
Pandemonium in the streets or martial law. Neither is good, one or both is where we're headed. Prepare now. Buy gold. Buy silver. Buy food. Buy water. Buy land.
What do you think? Am I being too pessimistic? Realistic? Do you have arguments that can help me sleep better at night?
