A Thought

As the campaign itself did not make this video, it is not violating any copyright issues. The free use act more than covers an individual using online clips for private venture. SoOo, while it can be used in the context of an individual, it cannot be used by HQ officially. We're covered...lol

This is retared, first off do

This is retared, first of do I need to ask the King family for permission to take that day off if I want? Spend some money on some milk that day? This isn't the Ron Paul Campaign doing any of this anyway. Those DailyKOS people are reaching really far.

You Cannot LEGALLY use his image without Permission!

That is a fact.

Yes, they CAN sue.

This will ONLY create BAD press.

I may be a vegetarian, but I'll defend to the death my right to eat pork!

Well its not The Campaign

Well its not The Campaign using his image, its just random supporters.

Trouble Lurking:

from Daily Kos:
Ron Paul Exploits MLK For Personal Gain
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/1/11/03432/2972

Gee, why would anyone accuse this group of being racist?

Using your name and reputation to raise money for minority causes might help to boost Ron Paul's reputatation. Using Martin Luther King's name to boost money for yourself, without asking for permission first, only makes things worse. It's like a company that tries to show off how patriotic they are and how much they love America, by selling cheap plastic flags that were made in China for $5 a pop. Ron Paul seems to think that most minorities are too dumb to understand the difference.

But this isn't a general rant against a GOP's hypocrisy and incompetence and general lack of respect towards minorities. No, it's a call to action. Right now, there is no indication that this upcoming money bomb is being sanctioned by the King family, and surely Ron Paul would have mentioned if there was was. Did Ron Paul bother to ask? My suggestion for anyone who finds Ron Paul to be repugnant is to contact the King Family Estate, and ask them how they feel about this news. Ask them if they approve of Ron Paul using Dr. King's name like this, ask them if they endorse Ron Paul's candidacy, and ask them if they will receive any of the funds that get donated to Ron Paul.

If it turns out that Ron Paul doesn't have the approval of the King Family Estate, then the blowback could be costly. It would show that Ron Paul's callous attitudes towards minorities wasn't simply a thing of the past, but something that continues to occur even now, even when he attempts to defend himself from these very allegations.

Solution: 3-Day Money Bomb

I posted this here:
http://www.dailypaul.com/node/26778

Hey, the MLK money bomb is too divisive on many counts, so I did some research and found 2 more birthdays to celebrate.

Let's make this a 3-day event in defense of Liberty and Justice and Freedom for all.

I think it should be a 3-day bomb to raise $18 million ($6 Million a day). Don't go higher than that, because the press will destroy us if we come up short.

Highlight the need for Super Tuesday funds!

I can't do this because I have no knowledge of website design etc. But perhaps someone else can do this. Or just modify the current drive to be more expansive and less divisive.

Jan. 21 - MLK Day
Jan. 22 - Sir Francis Bacon's birthday
Jan. 23 - John Hancock's birthday

Jan 21. MLK Day.
Quotes that represent what the Ron Paul Revolution represents:

"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."
"I submit to you that if a man hasn't discovered something he will die for, he isn't fit to live."
"Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity."
"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy."
"Our scientific power has outrun our spiritual power. We have guided missiles and misguided men."
"I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality. That is why right, temporarily defeated, is stronger than evil triumphant."
"In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends."

Jan. 22 (1561)- Sir Francis Bacon:
Leader of Scientific Revolution. Warned of religious fervor in government bringing Europe back to the Dark Ages.

Famous Bacon quotes:
"Silence is the virtue of fools."
"Knowledge is power." (Ipsa Scientia Potestas Est)
"He of whom many are afraid ought to fear many." This one is good - all the politicians in power fear Ron Paul; that is proof that we should fear them.

from Wiki:
Laurence Lampert wrote that Bacon dared to suggest that a revolution in thinking and acting was necessary because European intellectual and spiritual life as well as European politics had been captured by religious fanaticism that threatened to plunge Renaissance Europe into another dark age. Bacon chose the old literary device of dialogue to present his argument for wholesale change indirectly. In the conversation of his characters, he allows readers to see the reasons for kindling spiritual warfare against the spiritual rulers of European civilization.

There are some scholars who believe that Bacon's vision for a Utopian New World in North America was laid out in his novel The New Atlantis. He envisioned a land where there would be greater rights for women, the abolishing of slavery, elimination of "debtors prisons", separation of church and state, and freedom of religious and political expression.
Francis Bacon played a leading role in creating the British colonies, especially in Virginia, the Carolinas and Newfoundland.

Jan. 23 (1737) - John Hancock:
First to sign Declaration of Independence (only one to sign it on July 4th, 1776).
Financed the American Revolution. Started the Minutemen. First to boycott British tea. ETC.

Seriously, let's keep race out of this. The race issue has already managed to pummel the Clintons.

Let's just focus on what these 3 men have in common with Dr. Paul:

Taking back our country for the good of WE the PEOPLE!

I may be a vegetarian, but I'll defend to the death my right to eat pork!

I may be a vegetarian, but I'll defend to the death my right to eat meat!

Open letter to Old Media

I'm totally fed up. Why are these bogus racist accusation about Ron Paul still floating around? No one is mentioning Paul's defensive lines or the others defending him. I can't figure out who the old media has more disrespect for, the NAACP or the poor Black's who are far more likely to jailed for victimless crimes than say everyone else! You bastards! It's fraud. You are protecting a corrupt socialist system that hold these folks down more than everyone else. For the love of God our current president let and entire black city descend into chaos and die! You don't even cover it any more. The man lost a whole city! That has never happened before! And don't you dare give me crap about GW Bush doing the fiscally conservative thing and stepping away. That would be a first! Any Christian financial conservative would know the time to dismantle FIMA would be after the initial crisis not during it. The states would need time to prepare themselves financially.

* The president of the Austin NAACP defended him at a personal level.
* He is the only candidate who openly sees the racially skewed war on drugs as vailed racism.
* He has regularly cited MLK as his hero for just about forever.
* Many members of congress defended him personally when these letters came out.
* He is the only candidate who does not see blacks as needing special treatment. The other candidates seem them as an inferior group in need of parenting!

The republic wants it's airwaves back! You're journalistic skills are inferior to a bunch amateur bloggers with day jobs.

We need to draw more contributors - goal is to raise the most money, YET!

Not good

I am not happy with Ron Paul's infatuation with Martin Luther King. MLK was in fact the opposite of everything Ron Paul purports to stand for. He was a communist, a demagogue, an adulterer, and last, but not least, a liar. He even lied about his name. Martin Luther King was never his legal name.

Ron Paul has reportedly stated in an interview with Wolf Blitzer that the first thing he'd do would be to release all BLACK (my emphasis) drug criminals from prison! If that's true, then his detractors are right, he IS a kook. Now I'll see if I can find that statement somewhere on the Youtube or elsewhere. If he really said that, he can go to hell.

Non Violent Drug Criminals

Non Violent Drug Criminals should be released. Being in prison for multiple counts of drug use is ridiculous. They need to be treated not institutionalized if they aren't violent. Prison just hardens these criminals, that will be out someday soon. Nothing Kookey about that. We can't afford to house them in our overflowing prisons. If they want to destroy themselves let them. If they want to get help let them.

You are blind

How many times has Ron Paul said that with regard to this campaign and all his fundraisng success that its not about him - ITS THE MESSAGE! Don't you at least agree that MLK's message of freedom and equality is a good message? No human is perfect and we don't expect that from Ron Paul, MLK or anybody. I find your comment to be rather ridiculous.

As far as the War on Drugs and pardons -- i believe Ron Paul' position is two-fold: 1) End the Federal War on Drugs, which has a measurable disproportionate impact on minorities 2) Pardon ALL NON VIOLENT DRUG OFFENDERS currently being held in jails and prisons throughout this country. This would of course include Hispanics, Blacks and Whites, Asian and everything in between.

Get your facts straight, get your head out of your ass, and understand WHY Dr. Paul believes in the message that MLK believed. That we are all individuals and therefore entitled to be treated fairly - "that we not be judged on the the color of our skin but on the content of our character." Its really kinda simple. Both were opposed to collectivism and envisioned a society where race was simply not relevant.

This video is very powerful. I say spam it across the globe. The entire world could benefit from seeing this beautiful work. Great job!!!

Thanks for the insult...

That's just what I did in my post, judged MLK by the content of his character. I did not complain about his skin color.

And I didn't insult anyone, so do skip the derogatories, please.

I think you make a valid point...

but you are raining on everyone's parade :-P

The man has long passed. Let us at least remember his legacy and let God deal with his character.

And of course, donate some money!

Lets put this media racist smear to rest once and for all!!! Make this MLK Day Money Bomb the LARGEST YET. Push it to 10 million or more!!!

It's good

It's real good.

Of course, we've got to get this viral if we have any shot with the new moneybomb. Let's get em!!

I agree

These guys are artists of the first degree. Why the campaign does not recognize the talent that exists within their ranks is a major mystery to me.

I have goosebumps.

I have goosebumps.

An amazing add, I think it

An amazing add, I think it should be on TV!

I had already decided after participating in the 1st two money bombs, as well as donating on other days, that I was done sending money. I was going to skip the MLK day money bomb. Then I had to go and watch this video and I don't think I'll be able to resist sending Ron some more fiat dollars.

GHoeberX is a fantastic video producer. He really should be working for the campaign!
