Cheer Up, GOP: You’re going to have a "moderate" Republican president for the next 4-years

Dear Republicans,
Sorry about the election. I know how much it hurts when your presidential candidate loses. I’ve been there many times. You’re crestfallen. You can’t believe the public voted for that idiot. You fear for your country.
Cheer up. The guy we just re-elected is a moderate Republican.
I know how stupid that sounds. Barack Obama is the head of the Democratic Party. For five years, conservative politicians and media told you he was a raving socialist. In the heat of the campaign, when you’re trying to beat the guy, it’s hard to let go of that image of him, just as it’s hard for Democrats to see past the caricatures of Mitt Romney. But now that the campaign is over and you’re staring at a second Obama term, the falsity of the propaganda may come as a relief. By and large, Obama’s instincts are the instincts of a moderate Republican. His policies are the policies of a moderate Republican. He stands where the GOP used to stand and will someday stand again.

yes you are right

sees himself as Dwight D Eisenhower this , mentions him in his speeches sometimes.

You would hope that he would see himself more as FDR then Eisenhower.if you're a progressive anyway.

Obama approves of...

...the President putting American citizens on secret lists, indefinitely detaining them without trial, and even assassinating them. How is that moderate?

Obama thinks he can act worse than a Ceasar, not even consult Congress on matters of war, look solely to the UN or NATO for direction, rashly immerse ourselves in conflicts in the Middle East, fighting alongside Al Qaeda 'rebels'. These violations of the Constitution and common sense are moderate?

Obama's administration had been caught smuggling weapons to drug cartels in order to turn around and blame the 2nd Amendment. He has an antipathy towards gun rights. That's moderate?

He supports the Fed and fascistic crony capitalism, bailouts on the backs of the taxpayers, etc -- that's moderate?

You might call this status quo -- but these days the status quo is extremist, not moderate.

Uhm, I think the point is that most Republicans are really RINOs

And the fact that Obummer has carried on or expanded the same policies/programs as "Republicans" like Romney and George W. Bush is a reflection of the fact that the Republican party is now indistinguishable from the Dem/Prog party.

The sentence that...

...made me think otherwise, is:

' He stands where the GOP used to stand and will someday stand again.' This made it sound like the OP wants the GOP to return to where Obama is now, but maybe I misread it.

If it's completely meant to point out hypocrisy in the GOP, then good!
