Feds are determined NOT to let marijuana legalization fly

Feds file forfeiture papers for land used to grow marijuana but do not file charges for any crime - no crime was committed.

I believe the marijuana debate is more important than marijuana

Marijuana has been illegal For almost a century and has remained illegal in most states because the people didn't say otherwise. Marijuana has never been illegal because it is morally wrong like murder and theft. Well now the people say marijuana is not illigal in a few states. Though I am not supprised, I am amazed that the Feds are able to justify their continued prohibition of marijuana in states where the "majorty" of people have agreed that marijuana is not illegal. Most of us would agree that a democracy is not ideal. Yet in a democracy the majority rules. So if that doesn't matter than what's the point?

Law and liberty cannot rationally become the objects of our love, unless they first become the objects of our knowledge.

People get confused.

Murder, rape, even prostitution, etc are not crimes at a federal level. So how/why could MJ be?

It's the treaties, silly. I have given this speech a number of times and almost tired of saying it, but...

Treaties allow an unending, unchecked change to federal law. Any treaty, of any kind may be entered into to negate constitutional law.

The fact is, that government is already 100% unrestrained. There is nothing to stop them from doing anything that they want, other than fear of the people if they go too far.

We need to stop worshiping the constitution and start deciding if we need one gang of thieves and murderers to protect us from... well, what exactly.

Free includes debt-free!

I Can't Help But Wonder

How many alcoholics and people forced to take prescription anti-depressants would be cured by eating or smoking pot.

We've had medical marijuana legal for a while now in WA

The feds haven't liked that either.

Until a State is willing either through its Governor

or its Legislature to back up its laws with State Police, Sheriffs, and/or State Guardsmen to defend its Citizens against Federal Tyranny, then this is all an academic exercise and one that is doomed to fail.

The Feds are coming in with fire power to oppress the People and the State is derelict in their duty to secure essential Life, Liberty and Property.

Be prepared to meet unlawful lethal force with lawful lethal force or STFU.

as they lose what lil

as they lose what lil credibility they have if any. Prostitution and Gambling approved by gov, simple plant nope. the gov has no right to take or give a right they never had to take away.

Marijuana is not dangerous people voting for candidates who ignore the US Constitution are.

Sheriff Can Bust Big Bro: Sheriffs Put Feds in Their place

The duly elected sheriff of a county is the highest law enforcement official within a county. He has law enforcement powers that exceed that of any other state or federal official.

This is settled law that most people are not aware of.

County sheriffs in Wyoming have scored a big one for the 10th Amendment and states rights. The sheriffs slapped a federal intrusion upside the head and are insisting that all federal law enforcement officers and personnel from federal regulatory agencies must clear all their activity in a Wyoming County with the Sheriff’s Office. Deja vu for those who remember big Richard Mack in Arizona.

There is not a single Sheriff who has or has given any

serious indication that they will arrest any Federal agent in violation of State law.

Not one.

A few talk a good game.

None actually follow through.

When the Feds show up, they all buckle like sacred little cowards.

Could it be because of the...

I presume you mean the one for FY 2012.

That law is passed every year. And the last several have all had some whoppers in them.

But State's haven't been defending their Citizens for a LONG time.

I doubt the ability to lock up Americans without trial is what is stopping them.

Hell, I'd think it would finally convince them to do something.

maybe I should go kick the HO

maybe I should go kick the HO out of the big white house in DC for the same reason. They are growing pot in the white house garden.

Get out criminals...

Is that short for Head Orifice?

Bust the myth: "Prohibition does not work."

The alcohol prohibition worked BEAUTIFULLY. It created a black market and higher prices, and to be able to reduce the gangs and violence, the people settled for state run alcohol distribution.
Prohibition = government monopoly.

Love or fear? Choose again with every breath.

prohibition gave us

ted kennedy.
that should be a lesson.

"The two weakest arguments for any issue on the House floor are moral and constitutional"
Ron Paul

The alcohol prohibition

was a Rockefeller idea. He planned this to make sure oil was used for combustion engines. At that time almost every farm was producing ethanol and it had to be shut down to be able to sell gasoline.
Gasoline as we know know is one of the major sources of pollution. Without rockefeller we would have been driving on ethanol the last hundred years.

Civil Asset Forfeiture is an Unconstitutional Bill of Attainder

See: http://www.usconstitution.net/const.html

U.S. Constitution, Article I, Section 9 (Limits on Congress) Clause 3;

"No Bill of Attainder or ex post facto Law shall be passed."

U.S. Constitution, Article I, Section 10 (Powers Prohibited by States) Clause 1;

"No State shall ...; pass any Bill of Attainder, ...".

What is a Bill of Attainder? A bill of attainder is a legislative act that singled out one or more persons and imposed punishment on them, without benefit of trial. The constitutional clauses (federal and state) protect individual persons and groups who are vulnerable to nonjudicial determinations of guilt. When the legislature directs its bureaucracies (e.g., Department of Justice) to commit these acts against persons and deny them due process, it is a Bill of Attainder.

The act of civil asset forfeiture must be challenged in the federal courts and struck down as unconstitutional on its face.

Just like the Supreme court

Just like the Supreme court struck down Obamacare? We all know that the supreme court justices dont follow the constitution...they follow their own morality...or lack thereof. If the Supreme Court started striking down unconstitutional laws they would have to strike down 95% of the laws written over the last century....that would threaten dozens of governmental departments, the FED and who knows what else...Federal courts failed us long ago....this type of tyranny will eventually lead to open civil war.

I agree, but where's the State Atty General to bring these

A citizen can't sue the Feds directly. The State has to do it.

See the conundrum? The State passes a law, but refuses to back it up.

This won't end till the States start defending the inalienable rights of their Citizens.

That sounds like tyranny

It sounds like tyranny to say that I cannot petition my government for grievances like laws that oppress me.

I love you. I'm sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you.

Oh you can petition all you want.

They don't have to listen or grant you relief though. They just can't arrest you for doing so, and they don't have to grant you access to courts to accomplish your goal.

You are limited to merely sending them letters, emails, faxes, phone calls and making YouTube videos.

There's also the legal issue that for the most part, Congress isn't acting directly upon you. And where they do, your State government is supposed to intercede with them on your behalf.

Unfortunately, Congress writes the laws such that people are fooled into thinking they apply to everyone when they clearly do not. And the States aren't doing their job to protect their Citizens from this chicanery.

Since no charges for any crime were filed

Can they just take this guys farm without a trial? Attention property owners, be very careful who you rent to and what's growing on your land.

No crime was committed. The

No crime was committed. The marijuana he was growing was just as legal as broccoli.

I'd rather people were

I'd rather people were arrested and imprisoned for growing broccoli. ; )

Of course they are they don't

Of course they are they don't like competition they do not want regular citizens cutting in on their action! To bad people are ignorant and state government and local Sheriffs are bought and paid for by federal funds... All it would take is for county sheriffs is to tell the feds NO not happening!
