If you have already voted please check which petition for these states you have voted on.

The Texas petition reads as follows:

The US continues to suffer economic difficulties stemming from the federal government’s neglect to reform domestic and foreign spending. The citizens of the US suffer from blatant abuses of their rights such as the NDAA, the TSA, etc. Given that the state of Texas maintains a balanced budget and is the 15th largest economy in the world, it is practically feasible for Texas to withdraw from the union, and to do so would protect it’s citizens’ standard of living and re-secure their rights and liberties in accordance with the original ideas and beliefs of our founding fathers which are no longer being reflected by the federal government.

Some numbers
If we could get millions of people on these petitions - THAT WOULD send out a message loud and clear.

Even better get more signatures on these petitions than voted for Obama.
A tough ask.

However approximately :-

90+ million people didn't vote.
63 million voted for Obama.
60 million voted AGAINST him.

Turn it into a referendum on whether Americans really want Obama and his policies, or this Federal government, or something else.
Let's have a PROPER DEBATE about how this country should be run.
There wasn't one in the election - both the candidates had near enough the same policies.

A very substantial number of people that voted for Obama, didn't actually want him and would prefer something else.
I bet more than half.

Potential signatories who probably agree with the motion/referendum 180 million.
Your job is to go out and help get 65 million of them to sign.
Are you up for a challenge?

Go out and get some of the many millions who didn't see any point in voting, because neither of the extremist parties offer any solutions and won't make ANY difference.
Go out and get the 60 million who voted for Romney.
Go out and get the 1 million who voted Gary Johnson and probably at least as many who wrote in Ron Paul.

Go out and get some of the people who voted for Obama as the lesser of 2 evils.

Let's run that by you again.
At LEAST 2 million of you wrote in Ron Paul or voted Gary Johnson.
All you have to do is go and get 30 others each to sign the petition (non RP voters). Does that sound too hard for you?
Go and ask your Ron Paul supporting friends to do the same.

Go out and get some - MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
People have nothing to lose for voting yes to this referendum.
They have everything to gain.

Let the people's voice be heard for a change.

If your state hasn't got a petition yet, why don't you start one?
You will need 150 local signatories to get the ball rolling and it appears on the net.

Lobby prominent Ron Paul supporters to support this effort.
I have asked Judgenap to try and get it out on Fox.
I am asking Doug Wead whether he will support it.

This comment below from Speciallyblend sums up my feelings on the matter exactly

"duh folks, this petition is to bring to light the frustration and expose the gov corruption in any shape or form. Legit state petitions are possibly forming. It can help expose the establishment. everyone trying to reference it can't be done or arguing reasons are missing the point. This is coming out of voter frustration and a tipping point. It is a great way to expose the gop est corruption to folks who might not of known. It is also a great way to let folks know obama/romney are the same.

Use it how you will but don't argue over the main point. Use all angles and all means to expose the corruption. This is just a vehicle 25000 sigs and obama has to respond by his own website. of course he will say no or whatever excuse to keep the establishment in power but it helps expose the establishment corruption to some degree and that is all that is needed.

If folks are so upset about an online petition. Wonder how they will feel when real ones start showing up with the correct amount of sigs in states such as colorado nevada and many others, delivered to their sec of state! If it happens or not, it helps expose!!"

I could not find a vid of my favorite scene

My favorite scene from Harold and Maude, at least the scene that sticks with me most, is when they are at the lake and Harold offers Maude the coin he made with their names on it.. a huge token of LOVE from Harold to Maude.. and Maude take the coin and tosses it into the lake. Harold freaks out.. WHY would she throw that into the lake? And Maude tells him, "I'll always know where it is."

It's how I felt about the "lost upvote".. it's in this DP "lake", and though I may not see it.. I know where it is.

Watch "Happy Song"

The video for the song "Happy Song" by Melissa Ferrick features scenes that are reminiscent of "Harold and Maude", I think you'd like it.

Additionally, the song has one of my favorite lyrics, "I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired", both because it refers to one of Bill Cosby's skits from my childhood (his mom always said "I'm sick and tired", so one day she said "I'm sick" and he said, "and tired" and got in trouble), and also because recently I was browsing a used book store and purchased this book I can't quite recommend as I haven't read it yet: "Sick and Tired of Feeling Sick and Tired (Living with Invisible Chronic Illness)" by Donoghue and Siegel, but I plan to soon. (Re-reading the title, especially the subtitle, I'm curious as to whether the book refers to Fluoride.)

Anyway, have a great day! "Sing me a happy song."

I love you. I'm sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you.

Happy Song

Thank you for the recommendation. Could you post a link?

I have heard of the "Sick and Tired of being sick and tired", nor have I read it, but it sounds reasonable. ;))

And you have a great day/evening too!

God Bless You for the HAPPY post!

Couldn't find the video

Hi Granger, I couldn't find the video otherwise I would have put a link in the above. Here are the ones I could find; it's the same song, done live by her. Actually the first is the studio version, but the video is just like a screen-saver.

By the way, some personal history: back in the 90s, I subscribed to Rock Video Monthly, when I couldn't afford cable but still wanted new musical input. They sent a video cassette every month, with 10-12 songs on it. This song was one of those songs; this is how I was introduced to Melissa Ferrick.

The coolest part? That video that I couldn't find before but found today (because it said "clip" in the title, I thought it wasn't the whole thing), was taken from Rock Video Monthly! I recognized the logo in the upper right when the song ended.

I'm now going to watch the video from this morning about happiness. Cheers!

I love you. I'm sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you.

Brought tears to my eyes and much happiness to my heart. The Granger Loves Maude too... I told myself when I saw that movie.. "That's what I want to be like (Maude) when I grow up".. and I'm doing it.

Well Said

I have included your comment in the header as it articulates my thoughts on the matter so exactly.

"In the end, more than they wanted freedom, they wanted security. They wanted a comfortable life, and they lost it all -- security, comfort, and freedom. When ... the freedom they wished for was freedom from responsibility, then Athens ceased to be free."

so... 1)how could poeple from

so...
1)how could poeple from any state petition for another state to secede? I really don't think that these signatures will count.
2)If Obama cheated to win, he would have somehow needed the gov't from these states to help him. Do you think that they will actually agree to secede?

I want to see something happen with this, but it is not looking to promising here, unless someone can tell me something different.

Petition?

Because they have to ask for permission, it will never happen.

“I’m fully diversified. I’ve got some under the mattress, some under the floor boards, some in the backyard.”

but that would imply you need

but that would imply you need permission to secede

What is everyone talking about!!???

I do not want to see any state secede. Is everyone answer`s to our problems here the breakup of the United states? I for one do not want that.

How about we convince the states that they have an obligation to fight back DC like the constitution says?

"Freedom is never easy in a world of tyranny" - ME

Actually I think the reason

Actually I think the reason people are talking about secession is because what you're talking about hasn't worked.

Hasn`t worked....?

or haven`t tried?

I heard throughout many states that many establishment types ran unopposed this election.

"Freedom is never easy in a world of tyranny" - ME

The state used to stand up to

The state used to stand up to the Federal government until the National guard arrived. They learned it doesn't work. You only seem to be looking at the near past, but defending states rights has been going on for over 200 years.

They lost in 1868.

LIBERTY2ME's picture

I believe there are many

I believe there are many reasons why our gov't should have fought back. They didn't. they didn't over and over again and from what I can see, they are not about to even now. I believe we are at a point that if we don't do something drastic, they will just keep walking up to the podeum in front of the cameras saying that what they are doing is what the american people want. it is truly a desease what they are doing. So for the record, I don't believe that these petitions will amount to much, but I hope they do.

Actually, most Americans

Actually, most Americans don't know what they want. They are happy with the establishment making the decisions for them.

A VERY good point

It hasn't been explained to the overwhelming majority of Americans what the options are and what the implications of each of those options really are.

They have been told by the media that Obamney is their only choice.

"In the end, more than they wanted freedom, they wanted security. They wanted a comfortable life, and they lost it all -- security, comfort, and freedom. When ... the freedom they wished for was freedom from responsibility, then Athens ceased to be free."

And they've been told that

And they've been told that Capitalism and Socialism is their only choice. They've been told that the Constitution is their only choice, that US Citizenship is their only choice. Many things people have choices about and they don't even know it.

Inaccurate/misleading title

No "states" have started these petitions. These are petitions started by private individuals. The title right now is inaccurate. 15 random people starting a petition does not "15 states" make.

"amartin" raises this point below.

LIBERTY2ME's picture

Why are people from differnt

Why are people from differnt states siging for another states secession? Not sure that iw going to work.

bigmikedude's picture

Sounds kind of silly to me.

If a state is going to secede, I would think they would organize among their residents, and push their state government to secede and just do it, instead of petitioning the federal government and asking them?

I think it's someone's idea of a joke.

Kinda like an 18 year old

Kinda like an 18 year old asking the parent's permission to move out of the house??? "No, if you're still not old enough to make your own decisions, your not old enough to leave".

Kinda strange how 15

Kinda strange how 15 petitions, all created on the same day, all have nearly the same number of signatures...almost as if this is one single organized effort, not 15 individual occurrences.

(my bad, I was reading the total number on signatures NEEDED as being the total number of signatures...still kinda weird how 15 petitions all started the same day)

Now Is The Time

if the process of secession even remotely stands a chance of succeeding. Why? When the central government finally starts banning and confiscating assault rifles and other heavy arms required to defend against tyranny, it'll be TOO late. With the UN "Small" arms treaty being on the agenda in the US Senate, we can clearly see their plans.

This UN-sponsored treaty is probably as good a rationale as any for the case of secession NOW. If your central government thinks so little of the second amendment, then it's largely comprised of dangerous traitors. We're near the it's too late point of no return.
