$10 Million Great American eBay Yard Sale for Ron Paul???

Here's a suggestion......

what if the RP campaign registers as a nonprofit beneficiary through eBay so everyone can sell all their junk in their closets and then directly donate all the money to the campaign...

I sold some old computers and then donated the money to RP.
Worked for me.

We need come creative suggestions like this if we are going to raise 10 to 15 million in the 4th quarter?

any thoughts?

I strongly doubt that's

I strongly doubt that's allowed. There is a lot of extra paperwork when it comes to political campaign contributions so I don't think E-bay would be willing to go through the hassle and I don't think Ron Paul could register as a 503-c non-profit since that would circumvent the donation cap.

However, anything you sell on e-bay you can do with the cash as you wish which includes donating it to Ron Paul (subject to the 2,300 limit).

Another thing we could do is set up a special interest group, register it as a 503-c, use e-bay and then use that money for the special interest group. That group could be "Americans for a return to Constitutional government" and could promote a position but not a candidate. There may be ways around that too by promoting an event or product featuring Ron Paul eg: "Ron Paul reads the constitution audio book" or "Ron Paul live chat @ friends of liberty .com"

Obviously, the official 503-c charity through ebay is a lot of hassle. (why can't we use our money how we want to?) The best bet is to independently sell your stuff and donate the proceeds to Ron Paul. If you've hit your cap then consider giving to meet up groups in Iowa or student groups or something similar.

Wonderful idea

I have thinking along these lines but I don't know how to join ebay and deal with pay pal and all the details, have been looking for someone who is a member. I have a few quilts I could donate and who knows what else I may find. Another question is it a good idea when we list it to mention it is for Ron Paul or should we keep it quiet and just donate the money when we get it? What would help Dr. Paul the most?

eBay savy - legal savy person?

This is a brilliant idea! Does anyone have the energy, non-profit legal experience and eBay expertise to put this together? I am ready to clear stuff out! (I know I can do it on my own, but a big drive with another thermometer would be a great thing!

Great idea siliconpirate!

I think that once the bases

I think that once the bases are covered, that is a great idea. I know I could find some stuff to auction off for DP.

I'm already doing that

I donate directly to Ron Paul, but I get my funds from ebay, because I am liquidating my Silver American Eagle Proof sets ...while posting that the auctions are a fund raiser for dr. paul .. so far i gat 210 for dr. paul (I'm only 18 give me a break..i also go campaigning around my area with slimjims and stickers)

I'd do that

I have a bunch of old stuff that I'd sell for the campaign, but have no motivation to sell for myself.

eBay "consignment" shops

There are many towns that have eBay consignment-type shops. You drop the stuff off, then they do everything - from finding the value of what you've got, to listing the item on eBay, to shipping the item. Only downside to that though is that they take a cut, the one closest to me can take up to 30% of the final bid, but if you really want to get rid of your stuff and lack the motivation, you may want to look into one in your area.
