White House may respond to Texas secession petition

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/white-house-may-respond-t...

Let's imagine Texas is its own country

Wouldn't all the people and money that worked at ruining America rush into Texas and scuttle it? Hell, they're already doing that.

The CSA was as big a mistake as Lincoln. The South just should have nullified.

We need state and local politicians united against federal power, and we need federal politicians working to limit federal power.

I always thought nullification would work...

But aren't the states now incorporated under the United States corp.? Therefore no longer "sovereign", and nullification would therefore not be applicable? Either way, nullification I always believed is the way to go.

With all this Freeman/sovereign stuff floating around the internet, it's hard to decipher what is true.

It is the People's

responsibility to claim what is rightfully theirs, to claim the truth. We are not slaves unless we subject ourselves to the perceived "masters." I guess I'm not confident that a legal battle will result in upholding this truth as the money influence tends to corrupt the process.

i agree

i suppose nothing would be more educational than to see a real-life legal battle where that issue is exactly front and center...

You know...

Last time some states did this, the president didn't like it too much, and decided to kill hundreds of thousands to keep the union intact.

He also suspended habeas corpus, arrested innocent journalist dissenters, jailed those in disagreement with his policies without conviction, murdered, pillaged, and stole from Americans. Also didn't have quorum in congress, yet passed and elected new officials in congress, seating them illegally.

Well come to think of it, not much different than today. :(

Also noting,
I would seriously consider a move to Texas if this happened. (Wouldn't they have to pay back the Feds for all those handouts given over the years?)

Handouts?

Does Texas receive more than it sends?

There isn't much difference between Perry and Obama

They are both for fully funding higher education for illegal immigrants.

.

Perry

doesn't have the spine to inspire a movement such as this.

Some of these TX signatures aren't from TX

Or am I missing something?

Isn't this just like asking

Isn't this just like asking for an IRS audit?

That's still...

only .125% of the state.

You may get a response though... Who knows.

"You may get a response"

Oh, sure:

Militarized police in riot gear, backed by swarming herds of armed AAA (Alphabet Acronym Agency) agents would be my first guess :)

I mean, things being what they are and all ..

I don't think so. That would legitamize the request

I imagine it being more like how that group in AZ has wanted to Secede - They just ignore them.

I bet IF the President addresses this what would come out of his mouth will sound a lot like the adults in a Charlie Brown cartoon.

our great governor Rick Perry

where is Slick Rick Perry on this? MIA? Imagine that......when it comes to putting your money where your mouth is, Slick Rick never comes through....

"If ever time should come, when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in Government, our country will stand in need of its experienced patriots to prevent its ruin."
Samuel Adams

He is just

establishment garbage, in my own opinion. A movement like this could more effectively be accomplished by grassroots, inspired by the likes of Ron Paul, working to educate and win the confidence of the general public through enlightenment. Texas is a strong and confidently independent state.

28,511 signatures and most

28,511 signatures and most seemed to be Texas residents :)

I don't get how people in other states can sign these petitions

It's kind of like I'd be saying "I want this state to leave, I want that state to leave..."

Can someone explain this?

It is what it is and it ain't what it ain't. Also there's pandas.

Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution, inevitable.

A limitation of the petitions site

They can't restrict signatories by state. The site is a federal program.

In retrospect they should have added the ability to do so.

On the one hand...

it would be hard to argue that someone in another state couldn't sign a petition for a state they don't currently live in, as they may have lived there in the past, have plans to move there, or have family there.

On the other hand,

It would seem like it presents an opportunity for the Fed Gov to disregard or dismiss a petition on the grounds that most signatures came from people who aren't directly affected by the concerns of the petition.

Catch-22.

It is what it is and it ain't what it ain't. Also there's pandas.
