thinking about heading down to my county republicans office, any advice?

I live right down the street from the county republican office and I was going to go introduce myself, maybe volunteer. I really don't know what to expect or how to go about getting in with them, but I feel like the republican party is ripe for the taking and the more Paulians we can get in the better.

I was honestly just wondering if it would be worth my time and if anyone on the DP had any suggestions or experience worth sharing.

Depends

If you're accustomed to wading through excrement... Wear a good pair of boots.

If you're considering joining and following along, wear a good pair of Jack-Boots.

If you do not want to catch anything, use a Center for Disease Control suit.

In any case, take a shower as soon as you return.

My Suggestion is To . . .

Tell them you're quitting the party because it's corrupt; because it cannot be reconstituted back to the original party principles; because the leadership of the party dogma will lie through their teeth to lull the membership into believing "change" will happen (sound familiar?) and because there is no difference between republicans and democrats; they are the same party, just with two public faces.

Tell them you are re-registering as an INDEPENDENT with your board of elections and will not be bound to any party ever again. If there is a candidate that espouses your political beliefs and you trust they will not deviate from those principles (e.g., Ron Paul) you will consider giving your time, money and vote to that person.

America does not need political parties. Men or women who wish to represent their constituents should stand on their own convictions and not be the lackey of some party boss.

Give it a shot

The county party is probably much more welcoming than at state level. I joined my county GOP about six months ago, and just showed up to meetings and kept my head down while I got the lay of the land. I didn't make a big point to push Ron Paul as he was out of the nomination for all practical purposes by the time I joined. I was recently asked to consider running for office for a county position (election in April) which I declined on grounds of time available (I have my third child due in December, and am in the middle of renovating a house) but mentioned I had considered a run at county board. I even told them I'd run either independent or Libertarian for the county board seat due to it being the kind of district where being a republican will ensure defeat, and there was no issue with that at all. All in all folks have been very welcoming after I showed up for a few months, and the regulars began to remember my face.

thats excellent thank you

Its a really similar situation where i'm at in oregon. I live in an ultra liberal district. I appreciate the aadvice, I don't think I'll take a lot of crap for my libertarian beliefs, but I'm definitely gonna lay low for a while to feel it out.

Totally worth it

I'll warn you, it could blow your mind. You may find out, once again, MSM lies. You may see people you know.. I did. The GOP was NOTHING like I imagined.

I believe you will have a great time, probably meet some Ron Paul Republicans and make new friends. Mine here are very good friends because of our position with Ron Paul.

Be yourself... Have a great time. If I can help, email me.

thank you that means a lot

I'm sure I'll end up getting in touch. I've read your posts for a long time and I respect the hell out of you.

Go for it

County Party is a different organization than the State Party which is a different organization than the National Party.
