Interested in Politics, Rock and Roll, the 60's Counter-Culture/Peace Movement, etc. ? Extremely Interesting Info for YOU!

I cannot commend highly enough, to all here at the DP, that you read the very well researched and relevant information about an important time in our nations history at the link below. I doubt that anyone here is already familiar with even a small fraction of what is covered.

This site discusses the links between a large number of the leading Rock Stars of the 1960's, that had the most influence on the birth/direction of the "Hippies" and Military Intelligence(and prominent US families).

Please take a look and comment. I am very well informed but this is completely new for me.

Here is a taste. Sound Familiar?

"I should probably mention here that, contrary to popular opinion, the ‘hippie’/’flower child’ movement was not synonymous with the anti-war movement. As time passed, there was, to be sure, a fair amount of overlap between the two ‘movements.’ And the mass media outlets, as is their wont, did their very best to portray the flower-power generation as the torch-bearers of the anti-war movement – because, after all, a ragtag band of unwashed, drug-fueled long-hairs sporting flowers and peace symbols was far easier to marginalize than, say, a bunch of respected college professors and their concerned students. The reality, however, is that the anti-war movement was already well underway before the first aspiring ‘hippie’ arrived in Laurel Canyon. The first Vietnam War ‘teach-in’ was held on the campus of the University of Michigan in March of 1965. The first organized walk on Washington occurred just a few weeks later. Needless to say, there were no ‘hippies’ in attendance at either event. That ‘problem’ would soon be rectified. And the anti-war crowd – those who were serious about ending the bloodshed in Vietnam, anyway – would be none too appreciative."

P.S. I did a quick check on this guys credibility by checking his assertions about David Crosby of Byrds/C.S.N.; his assertions are spot on.

Dave's new Laurel Canyon book can now be pre-ordered

Finally Dave gets the story into book form but unfortunately not in time for Christmas.

Weird Scenes Inside the Canyon: Laurel Canyon, Covert Ops & the Dark Heart of the Hippy Dream

Also unfortunately Dave has disabled many of the links to chapters on his website (glad I saved them all to PDF)but can't blame the guy. It's one of the most fun reads in the 'rock n roll' genre and I hope he does well in sales.

Some wild leaps...

Especially in the age of the draft, it was hardly unusual to have military in your family. My dad was military, and I'm one of those long haired musicians myself. I can tell you from personal experience that there's no way Dad put me up to it. Quite the opposite, in fact. Occam's Razor, people... What's this, an artist rebelling against his establishment parents? Say it isn't so!

Perhaps the most amusing thing in this thread is the suggestion that NYC songwriters could have written ANYTHING for Frank Zappa, a man who wrote bizarre and complex music every day of his entire adult life, bashing both the establishment and the hippies simultaneously.

Jefferson's picture

was an interesting read. I didn't know of all the military connections to certain "artists." I'm going to forward this to my uncle who has been in the music business in L.A. since this very time. I'll bet he knew and or played with a lot of these people. If I get any interesting info I'll try to share.
(btw, links to some of the other parts seem to be missing)

Edit: yep, looks like he has played with some of them.
(excerpt from his bio)
"Jimmy has written and published countless songs, and has played major venues worldwide. He has appeared in concerts with Jimi Hendrix, Buddy Miles, Sly and the Family Stone, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Janis Joplin, Three Dog Night, and many others. He has performed on television commercials and such television programs as American Bandstand, The Grammy Awards, The Midnight Special, and ABC's 20/20."

Quotes on drugs

Was looking for a different Frank Zappa quote but happened to find these three together at

“Imagine a society that subjects people to conditions that make them terribly unhappy then gives them the drugs to take away their unhappiness. Science fiction It is already happening to some extent in our own society. Instead of removing the conditions that make people depressed modern society gives them antidepressant drugs. In effect antidepressants are a means of modifying an individual's internal state in such a way as to enable him to tolerate social conditions that he would otherwise find intolerable.”
― Theodore Kaczynski

“A drug is not bad. A drug is a chemical compound. The problem comes in when people who take drugs treat them like a license to behave like an asshole.”
― Frank Zappa, The Real Frank Zappa Book

“I'm glad mushrooms are against the law, because I took them one time, and you know what happened to me? I laid in a field of green grass for four hours going, "My God! I love everything." Yeah, now if that isn't a hazard to our country … how are we gonna justify arms dealing when we realize that we're all one?”
― Bill Hicks

Zappa didn't do drugs.

He didn't even smoke weed. He just looked like he did.

It was a very wierd place in a very wierd time.

I lived in the "The Knowles" off Topanga Canyon from 1972-1975. About a mile from the Spahn Ranch where Manson had lived earlier. I was 17 and left when I was 20. It was too weird. Occultism, Witchcraft and a lot of very strange goings on permeated the area. Manson had been a celebrity but was not by any means a unique or odd character in that area.

The whole "counter-culture" scene was in open conflict being pulled either to the "Jesus People" camp or the "Satanist" camp. The satanists were divided and different covens warred with each other. People disappeared or died on a regular basis. It wasn't just Laurel Canyon. That whole corridor from the Santa Susana Pass, through Laurel Canyon, and down to Malibu was crazy.

And just to add spookiness to the story (because truth is stranger than fiction) General Dynamics had facilities at both ends of that Corridor - which I never correlated until I read this.

Without doing more research I personally won't buy offhand the premise of a Military Industrial Complex\Satanist connection to control the music scene to control the masses. BUT - having been there as a dumb kid and having seen what I saw, and having known the people I met - I don't doubt the possibility for a minute!

I recently read that Barbara Bush was Aleiste Crowley's daughter

Pauline Pierce was friends with Aleister Crowley, maybe more than friends. Pauline had a reputation of being a bit on the wild-side in the 20's. It's been reported that she and Aleister were in France together around September/October of 1924. Upon return to America and her boyfriend here, Pauline gave birth to Barbara Pierce.

I don't know if it's true but there is a resemblance. Just Google the two names.

LA/SF 60's Music scenes

Interesting reading - I want to check out more of this (The Laurel Canyon material).

That said, there was a lot of amazing and beautiful creative
activity that came out of this period - there are hippies all over
the world even today (well, lots of trustafarian posers, too) which
should tell you something.

There was something of a unity but also competing vision
between the San Francisco based scene and that of S. Cal. -
I tended to identify more w/the former but both made huge

OMG! Everyone is a zombie! LOL!

I call BS. Thats like saying everyone today is a NWO zombie. It simply isn't true. Truth is the exact time, place, form and event. That is why 10 people standing on a street corner can witness an automobile accident and all state different truths about what they saw and heard.

There is a lot more that happened over that 15 year period, with millions of people all over the world than can be conveyed in a manipulative 15 minute video. Kids were rebelling from parameters of their parents and the dichotomies of society. There weren't all secret agents of the NWO.

This reminds me of all the church sermons on listening to Led Zeppelin and the Beatles records backwards.

Were there influencers at work? Absolute. Was it only on demonic NWO? Don't be ridiculous. Individuals were waking up to many things.

Thank you, gmason08.

The whole counter-culture movement was created, planned, and implemented with military precision.

Sex, drugs, music, and sports have been used to control people for a very long time. Not surprising that the, "elites," of the world would be so heavily involved with such trades.

When The Beatles came to America, it was literally a British invasion.

Start watching the video below at about 6 minutes 20 seconds in.

Backmasking - John Lennon admits it at the 10 minute mark, and Aleister Crowley wrote about it.

Something wrong with that...

"The 12-atonal system consisted of heavy, repetitive sounds, taken from the music of the cult of Dionysus and the Baal priesthood by Theo Adorno and given a "modern" flavor by this special friend of the Queen of England and hence the Committee of 300."

LSD wasn't particularly effective as mind control

in fact, quite the opposite.

LSD is all about Free-Thinking.

Allowing the mind to create it's own images and pictures with restrictions. That is why is was considered to be so dangerous to the ruling power that be. They couldn't afford to have people thing for themselves and questioning the dogmas.

Can you imagine what happened when the children of prominent leaders started dropping acid and questing those dogmas. As frank Zappa so profoundly said "It Can't Happen Here"

LSD is Soma

design to make you a passive, zoned out fool. Others have linked to the gnosticmedia.com interview on this. Most of the 60s youth culture was a psy-op on the way to a 'new world order'.

And BTW LSD is not Soma!

"A vote for the lesser of two evils is a vote to keep things the same", Buckminster Fuller..
A choice for liberty is always a choice for liberty.

And you've done LSD how many times?

Do you have any experience to base you assertion on? And What the heck is Soma?

LSD is Lysergic acid diethylamide, abbreviated LSD or LSD-25, also known as lysergide (INN) and colloquially as acid, is a semisynthetic psychedelic drug of the ergoline family, well known for its psychological effects which can include altered thinking processes, closed- and open-eye visuals, synesthesia, an altered sense of time and spiritual experiences, as well as for its key role in 1960s counterculture. It is used mainly as an entheogen, recreational drug, and as an agent in psychedelic therapy. LSD is non-addictive, is not known to cause brain damage, and has extremely low toxicity relative to dose.

A choice for liberty is always a choice for liberty.

Folks can take whatever they want . . .

as far as I'm concerned. As long as you do not harm or infringe on the rights of others, its not my concern.

'soma' is a fictional drug & one of the methods used to get people to 'love their servitude' in the futuristic novel "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley. That and "1984" by George Orwell are among the most insightful & important novels on the future. They should be read by everyone. Huxley was one of the major figures who helped design & push for 'a new world order'.

(By the way - Most Americans don't read a single book after high school. 42% of American college graduates don't read a single book after leaving university. - That's why we have such a clueless citizenry who are easy suckers for propaganda.)

Considerable research has been done and evidence uncovered of government involvement and origination of the drug and 'counter' cultures of the 1960s. (Jan Irvin has done a great deal of work on this .) I mentioned gnosticmedia.com above, but here's a couple links to get you started. You can run a search at the website to find more information on this:

Soma - Hindu and Zoroastrian tradition

In the above ancient traditions this was a sacred plant and
drink derived from it - held to be energizing/uplifting/empowering.

True identity of the plant or fungus it was derived from has been lost
and/or is disputed - R. Gordon Wasson thought it was some sort of
hallucinogenic mushroom.

The Rigveda (8.48.3) says:

Ralph T.H. Griffith translates this as:

We have drunk Soma and become immortal; we have attained the light, the Gods discovered.
Now what may foeman's malice do to harm us? What, O Immortal, mortal man's deception?
Swami Dayanand Saraswati translates it as:

Som (good fruit containing food not any intoxicating drink) apama (we drink you)
amŕtā abhūmâ (you are elixir of life) jyótir âganma (achieve physical strength or light of god)
ávidāma devân (achieve control over senses);
kíṃ nūnám asmân kṛṇavad árātiḥ (in this situation, what our internal enemy can do to me)
kím u dhūrtír amṛta mártyasya (god, what even violent people can do to me)

Manufacturing the Deadhead...

I discovered Dave's work a couple years back and found it intriguing, but even if the counterculture movement was influenced in part by PsyOps doesn't mean that the entire episode in history and its cultural impact was completely under the control of military intelligence operations. For example, I still love much of the music from that period and little I learn now will ever change that.

Another group of researchers apparently "independently" discovered the same connections and claim their work Manufacturing the Deadhead: a product of social engineering is better documented and cited than Dave's research. I have not verified this claim myself, but you can find the piece here and judge for yourself.

For what it’s worth, my impression of Jan Irvin is that he is an honest researcher, but Joe Atwill rubs me wrong for some reason. I listened to one of Jan's interviews with Joe once when he was talking about the history of anthropology and making the case that that entire field of science was constructed by the elite to exploit the religious belief systems of indigenous peoples, so that they could then be conquered and controlled through Imperialism. While I could relate to 90% of what he was saying, the remaining 10% was so strikingly untrue that my B*llSh*t detector blew its fuse more than once.

Then, Atwill's credibility fell even further for me when he had a press conference recently to push his old book “Caesar’s Messiah – The Roman Conspiracy to Invent Jesus” that claims to debunk Christianity.

Here again, it’s not to say that the Roman Church and State did not collude to distort and blend the early works of diverse pre-Christian groups into an instrument of Theocratic control, but much of the details of Atwill’s thesis are so out in left field that even academic scholars who question the literal history of the Bible take offense to Atwill's claims and a few even went out of their way to write blistering negative reviews to make light of Atwill's faulty reasoning.

So, while it is good to keep an open mind, one must always beware of those who aim to deceive and distort the truth. Joe Atwill is one of those to beware of in my opinion. He seems to be working for the elite under the cover of claiming to expose them.

Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery; none but ourselves can free our minds. - Bob Marley

Since youve visited Jan Irvin's website . . .

its likely you heard him use the term 'Ad Hominem Attack. That is an attack on the person rather than his argument.
I read 'Caesar's Messiah' and found several aspects of his conclusions to be unconvincing. Your last paragraph above sounds like a personal attack. Do you have some evidence to support it ? Or is this outrage at what you regard as an attack on your personal religion by Atwill ?

Asclepius's picture

Very good question! Thanks for asking...

Having just reread my comment, I would have to agree with you - it comes off as a "personal attack". I could provide specific reasons, like something he said during the Anthropology interview or the negative reviews of his book.

Read here: http://www.patheos.com/blogs/wwjtd/2013/10/joseph-atwill-has...

However, my distrust for him is rooted in something that goes deeper than these specific issues. It's a gut feeling that I have, but one that I hope to be able to verbalize at some point.

I can assure you of one thing, though, it has absolutely nothing to do with his attempt to debunk Christianity, which BTW is not my "personal religion".

Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery; none but ourselves can free our minds. - Bob Marley

Thank you for your reply . . .

gut feelings are definitely part of the tools we have for making judgments about people. I try to listen to them as another data point, but not the over-riding one. It all depends on the circumstances, of course. If I walked passed someone on a dark street and got a 'bad vibe' it would be a very good idea to pay a lot of attention to that. Regards, -

Asclepius's picture

Yes, exactly...you read my mind...

I was thinking of that analogy.

Government control

I read this information a few years ago. It made me wonder about who were the musicians in the 60's, and what were their backgrounds. Many were government agents. I wonder who was Jim Morrison. His father was a top officer in the Navy, and was in charge of on stand by of the Bon Homme Richard, parked at Diego Garcia when the Gulf of Tonkin false flag happened.

How many of these groups were involved. Laurel Canyon is certainly interesting. The real estate connected to it is even more fascinating.

Perhaps if anyone lives nearby, they could shed some light on that place.
