My Local Party is Growing Up!

I am so proud! My local GOP is changing growing up! I get to help raise it!

I am part of a think tank and we've got some great ideas. I've created a Facebook page and would love if you all could check it out and give it a like if you like it. We've decided we need to focus on re teaching the basics. Seems our public liberal education is failing to teach our kids the fundamentals. We plan on reaching to to the local colleges and setting up workshops and speakers ect.

The think tank consists of a panel of all different people but we all agreed that the message of Liberty is what we need. We are trying to shift the direction of our party and reach beyond the party lines.

Here is the Facebook page.

I spoke to about 5k people at a polling location where I was promoting one of the last "constitutional" sheriffs left in our country, that happened to be seeking position of sheriff in Pauls old district..
I was amazed at how many people knew nothing of the sheriffs responsibility to protect the citizens from the fed if they over reach.. even the sheriff who won, said he "did not care about the constitution" he told me that "You(me) are the only one who cares about it but no one else does".. very sad.
F Ior two weeks- I asked almost everyone going in to vote if they knew the "county sheriff holds the constitutional power to arrest a sitting president" and told them no one else has this authority.
Only ONE out of thousands knew that.
Not one person knew it was the sheriffs constitutional responsibility to protect their rights and freedoms from tyrannical federal gvt.

Interesting. The good thing

Interesting. The good thing is that people in my CD are stoked about re teaching the importance of the constitution.

Nice work!

This is definately one of the things that need to be done.

Educate Educate Educate!

and, End the Fed!

I'm working on that one...end

I'm working on that one...end the fed! Audit the fed was passed in our county convention. We will get there soon.

I view this as a way to teach the base also. They are getting a lesson from Dr. Paul and they don't even know it. I'm starting with the basics.

Awesome job, I love it!

Going to my first post-election GOP meeting tonight

Hopefully in the tumult of losing so bad (lost the CD, and the one state represenative we had in the area as well as all local races except 4 of 25 county board races) they will be open to real grassroots groundwork to change the face of this county for once.

Very nice!

We are having similar victories here as well. I am firewalled from FB but if you search Mesa County Patriots we have a group that may be simliar to yours. We have educational forums and speakers also that go over things like open carry, sound money, liberty, etc.. We also work to get liberty candidates on the republican ballot and liberty people on the GOP committees and boards. And we like to have fun by throwing festivals and other creative events.

Our local GOP is welcoming of us. Part of the reason is because we get involved and stay involved.

That's great! Nice page!

Liberty Republicans

Good for you that you will be part of a new wave of objectives in the local party. It sounded to me like tea party ideals ~ which the Republican Party *should* be standing for! Nice FB page, too. Good luck with the think tank!

Thank you! We are trying to

Thank you! We are trying to move our party in a new direction. We've had issues with leadership and lots of infighting but we are flowing around them like water. It's a new era and we are taking the wheel. The good news is that we have lots of support from within the party!

Re Liberty Republicans

I'm just curious if it's tea party people who've become active within the GOP party or just liberty-minded individuals who've been there all along (or some other phenomenon?). I guess what I'm getting at is... what precipitated what appears to be something of a turn-around?

The turn around has been

The turn around has been happening for a while in my area. I witnessed in first hand at our county convention with a huge floor fight. There is a clash of ideas with the old dogs. While some are very welcoming of the new generation, some others are not. But we are gaining control. A lot of people on the committee while may not be Paul supporters, they welcome us with open arms and support us. Our Congressional District chairman is openly a Paul supporter and has a lot of respect out here. We feel highly that a big problem is a lot of people don't understand history so we want to emphasize the importance of such things like the Constitution. Hoping things will broaden fromt there.

Our candidate was Lee Byberg who was endorsed by Campaign for Liberty and the head of Paul's campaign in MN. He lost to a really bad democrat. It was a money issue.

Agree about history

In a tea party group I was in, we started a book group covering The Five Thousand Year Leap. It didn't start out this way, but we ended up just covering one or two chapters each month, meeting to discuss that chapter's principle (sometimes re-reading parts of the chapter aloud if there were questions) and then discussing how it applied to current events. The Intercollegiate Studies Institute also has great books; you might want to get on their book catalogue mailing list. (It's not the kind of catalogue with the latest trendy books but rather about history, economics, philosophy, and the founding of the conservative movement, i.e., ideologically conservative, not social conservative.) They also have this great civics test that people can take on line. And a great resource is their college directory; I used to keep a copy out at different events.
