Secession: Exploding Movement, Tempest In a Teapot … Or Something Else?

A lot of attention is being given to the fact that residents in all 50 states have filed petitions to secede from the United States.

Daily Caller reports:

By 6:00 a.m. EST Wednesday, more than 675,000 digital signatures appeared on 69 separate secession petitions covering all 50 states, according to a Daily Caller analysis of requests lodged with the White House’s “We the People” online petition system.

Like they care.

Although all this petition for secession hubbub is interesting, are any of these folks petitioning their state government to get on board or at least take a position in regards to this or nullification of Exec.orders and unconstitutional laws and agency encroachment in their states?

The White House website is a cute idea and all, don't get me wrong, but really folks? It seems it would be of interest to organize marches on some state capitals and get some local news rolling on this. It might, if done well push the message of liberty to the public where is actually matters.

Petitioning the puppets???? I hope it makes those folks signing on to these documents feel better while joining a new government list neatly gift wrapped for HLS.

Now to my real question for this post; How can this enthusiasm/frustration be used to forward the message of liberty in a way that educates people to the movement while avoiding the media tags sure to follow; fringe, kooky, extremist, even "racist", etc....

Remember, the media will never frame this as being about liberty. And we should also remember that this petition movement surely contains frustrated folks that have not heard or fully understand the alternative the liberty message and embracing the rule of law under the Constitution offers as a solution.

Created new post here for ideas:

All racists...

Well of course, the media will say "they are all racists", when referring to the petitioners... LOL

Oh,

but are there really over 675,000 digital signatures? I perused over 5000 signatures on a PA petition--not only were there a few repeats, but there were signatures from out-of-state. Out of the 12,300+ signatures on that particular petition, I'd estimate a good 25% or more were from out-of-state! Are out-of-staters signing more than one petition? Would this not negate the 25,000 signatures needed per petition? (not that I am giving any credence to this alleged secession movement)

To answer your question, I don't know what it means, but I don't think it's really about 'secession', however.

Stupid timing, IMO

Doing it now just seems like a temper tantrum because Obama won, which it most likely is.

I agree.

Its hard to see this as anything other than a temporary fad. If this thing is still building slowly after a whole year or two, then I may take it seriously.

Not Serious

In my humble opinion, the secession petition are a blowing off steam tactic. This was fizzle out by the end of the month.
