Submitted by Jinn on Thu, 11/15/2012 - 22:49USTREAM live now: Oregon : Lane Co Republican party, Duane Taylor & other RP supporters running for county office
this is the Lane Co Organizational meeting (every 2 years) to county officers, some of who will be delegates to the Oregon GOP state central committee.
Duane and the other RP candidates will give speeches and county leaders will be elected; enemy of Liberty Allen Alley (Oregon GOP chair who orchestrated the Oregon delegation travesty) will also speak.

They just passed vote of no confidence in Kremer
They just passed vote of no confidence in ORP treasurer Rob Kremer, I think for spending $ promoting democrats?
Liberty candidate got one
Liberty candidate got one seat on the state central committee for Liberty, and 2 more were gained for the slate overall, putting the balance of state central committee votes at 3/3 ('New Direction' vs neo-con).
now for the alternates...
Total votes dropping
Are people leaving? Need to get some people by the doors to try and keep the Liberty folks from leaving. Looks like the neo-cons have lost 8 and the RPers are down 4.
Laura just lost as secretary,

Any chance a motion could be made in future meetings, interest will wane among the neo-cons and their numbers will drop. If you can keep the Liberty supporters involved, you could still take it?

the prior vote had a roll
the prior vote had a roll call re: bylaws changes.
It was I think 67/130, the neo-cons won it (although it wasn't a blatant vote, so maybe folks didn't know they were picking a 'side').
so this is going to be a close one !!!
they are starting the
they are starting the election now
for Chair: RP supporters want Dave Ralston to win, not Paul Barnett
No Ustream
I can't get the Ustream to work, problem here, not Ustream, but can you guys keep posting updates. Is there a twitter feed or hashtag you guys are posting to?
I'm up here in Washington and we have our County meeting next month. I'm hoping the Liberty supporters arrive in force.
Any information about lessons learned from your meeting, rhetoric that seemed to work well on the crowd or badly. Things like that would be really helpful.
Thanks
sorry I guess I'm in the age
sorry I guess I'm in the age group that reacts to twitter like "Um, I don't get it. whats a hash tag. I'm going to pretend it doesn't exit"
thank you "Jinn"
...for your reporting!!
they are doing roll call and
they are doing roll call and I'm hearing a lot of RP supporters' names. They may have the room.
they are voting to adopt the
they are now discussing/voting to adopt the agenda and then will vote on bylaws & proposed changes to the bylaws.
The (incumbent) board is suggesting some changes.
One is to do a single vote for all delegate positions, instead of the current rule which requires the winner to have 'a majority'.
The other is to remove the positions of Alt Vice Chair and Vice Chair (these are the positions that Duane & Brad are running for).
the neo cons are rumbling
the neo cons are rumbling from the podium about how anyone who is taking video needs to get the other people's permission first before putting it online.
um.. this is a live stream.. and Oregon oregon law says you can tape:
(a) Public or semi-public meetings such as hearings before governmental or quasi-governmental bodies, trials, press conferences, public speeches, rallies and sporting or other events;
(b) Regularly scheduled classes or similar educational activities in public or private institutions; or
(c) Private meetings or conferences if all others involved knew or reasonably should have known that the recording was being made.
I guess they just got (c) accomplished, since everyone now knows they are being taped, even if it is a 'private' meeting (of over 100 people).
I think I just heard that the
I think I just heard that the slate is called the 'New Direction' slate. Good call, Lane Co!
