Romney Blames Loss on Obama's “Gifts” to Blacks, Latinos & Young People

“Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.” - Richard Armour

Liberty Crier: Mitt Romney, in the wake of his embarrassing defeat, committed yet another major faux pas, telling his donors that Obama won the election because he gave “gifts” to specific groups of donors, particularly minority groups, with an emphasis on Latino voters, blacks, and young women.

In a conference call on Wednesday, Romney told his top contributors that Obama was able to sway voters in his direction with large financial gifts. According to a report by Ashley Parker of the New York Times [video], Romney was able to specifically point out those “gifts” by each group:

“In each case they were very generous in what they gave to those groups,” Mr. Romney said, in reference to blacks, Latinos, and young voters.

“With regards to the young people, for instance, a forgiveness of college loan interest, was a big gift,” he said. “Free contraceptives were very big with young college-aged women. And then, finally, Obamacare also made a difference for them, because as you know, anybody now 26 years of age and younger was now going to be part of their parents’ plan, and that was a big gift to young people. They turned out in large numbers, a larger share in this election even than in 2008.” (Romney also cited “the path to citizenship” as a large “gift” to Latino voters. Coincidentally, Romney also supported that same notion as Governor of Massachusetts.)

Some of these responses show how out of touch many libertarians

are, with the actual views of the public. Yes, Romney is right about this just as he was right about the 47% thing. The 1% of voters who are libertarian didn't vote for Romney for different reasons. But the majority of voters who didn't vote for him and voted for Obama fit the characteristics he describes.

The majority didn't vote at all, all thanks to Mittens.

And thanks to those that insisted that Mitt was the only best candidate...

The Truth-- Federal Taxes paid/received for each State

I am amazed that the Republicans would claim that gifts are going to the Dems when the exact opposite is true.

The Red States take far more then they give.
The ten states that give the most in Federal taxes and spend the least per capita are all blue.
Out of the top ten "takers" 8 are red.
FauxNoise redstate dupes will believe anything the right says without a moment of critical thought.
Incredible but true. I hope some redstates succeed in secession. The rest of us will be better off.

Rom lost because he wasn't

Rom lost because he wasn't able to connect with the 47% whom he dissed when he thought none of them were in the room. He wasn't able to make the case that his policies would make their lives better because his ideas were watered down versions of the real deal - they were like cheap plywood imitations of fine furniture.

Rom was a free market imposter. He gave lip service to freedom ideas, but he couldn't close the deal with regular folks because Rom doesn't actually believe in free markets - he's a crony capitalist.

That's not why you lost, dear Mitt buddy.

You too, you do have your rent-seeking groups craving for your largesse. Don't ya ?

You lost because your so called "opponent" ...

... was able to give them more, MUCH more, WAY more...

Woohoo. Big news, uh ? You're much welcome, buddy.

Keep stacking on, Mitt. That is : stealing, ya know !

Maybe it will work for you next time.

I mean... if ever.

Could it be social issues and

Could it be social issues and how Republicans want to imposes their social beliefs on the population at large that prevents them from winning elections. I keep hearing about the quote "handouts" that minorities are getting but that argument is just like the broken glass fallacy. You see a minority with a cheap cell phone with limited minutes and you say there right there thats were the 16 trillion went thats what crashed the economy.

Dont they know:

Its a deception don’t let these people pit you against each other while they are the ones that are really fleecing you with online pay walls, podcast subscriptions, stickers, clothing, etc. Do these fake conservative radio host and politicians talk about the state monopoly on regulated licenses (which is a barrier to entry in the market), do they talk about foreign aid, do the talk about the military industrial complex, do they talk about the internet tax and regulation bills that they are trying their hardest to pass in the dead of night. Do they talk about how they pick winners and losers buy subsidizing market competitors with government contracts which don’t operate under free market regulatory controls e/g/ Microsoft and Ford, do they talk about government protect accreditation licenses to protect government funded institutions from open market competition, do they talk about re- enstating property rights as a means to stop quote "climate change" no but instead they will use there emission caps to handicap competitor grow, etc. I can go on and on stop with this race shit. They get blank that I don’t get. Just about everyone in America benefits whether directly or indirectly by some sort of government handout and it needs to stop ALL of it. Not selectively but all of it.

Like I said in a comment before: "It's not skin color its policy! Does skin color and|or origin contribute to more votes yes but integrity, policy and how you communicate that policy will get you elected. Again please remember Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton both ran for president. Skin color and|or ethnicity does not get you into office. It is FOX News propaganda to rile up low information white voters who are part of the Republican base (Democrats do the same thing with urban blacks and I am black so no one needs to take offence. It sadly is a technique used by both parties in their get out the vote campaigns). They push this garbage about how we need to die for Israel's democracy, how WAR and the use of sanctions means peace, etc."

This is a very good point. In

This is a very good point. In a recession, what is it, 400 billion in welfare spending? That is not very much all things considered!

Romney forgot to mention the majority of women voted for Obama again.

It's quite simple

Romney lost because that was the plan. All that is happening with these statements is furthering the plan to divide America, so that when the time comes, it is even easier to conquer.

"Government is the entertainment division of the military-industrial complex". - Frank Zappa

Lets see here

It had nothing to do with the only thing that republicans said about him was that obama must loose.

It had nothing to do with him loosing the pro life vote because he never ever ever ever voted pro life in his life

it had nothing to do with him writing obama care.

It had nothing to do with his economic policy pretty much being that he will bring jobs back to America, with no details

it had nothing to do with him screwing the grass roots as a whole and not just the ron paul wing of it.

it had nothing to do with independence seeing no difference between him and obama?

it had nothing to do with the fact that republicans have to have the independent vote to win the white house, and a lot of them are really conservatives that grew sick of the republican party because of people exactly like mitt

It had nothing to do with your entire primary campaign being propped up with the media calling your name every 3 or 4 seconds, then as soon as you won said primary the news instantly shut up about you except to bash you?

His entire campaign was that he is better than obama (with out any details) and now that he lost he is still saying he is better than obama. He really needs to get out of campaign mode.

romney,rnc and the gop est

romney, rnc and the gop est lost the election in tampa and across gop state conventions. When they had to lie, cheat and steal from republicans. blowback and accountability is a bitch, not to mention romney threw colorado out the door when he opposed the colorado constitution, state rights and individual rights.

Romney got served on a silver platter on nov 6th:)

Ron Paul 2016

Well, he's exactly right.

Ever since the Sixties the Democrats have been using the government to buy voters. It's a simple and quite effective strategy. You get into office, divide people into groups, and then redistribute wealth and power to your groups and use them to conquer the other groups.

Social security and Medicare...

are just as much government handouts as welfare and food stamps. The only difference is that those goodies are handed out by the neocon GOP to old white people.

I don't play, I commission the league.

That's not exactly accurate.

Social Security was passed under Democrat FDR with a Democratic Congress. Likewise Medicare was part of Jojnson's Great Society, passed with the help of a Democratic House and Senate. The Obama campaign tried to woo the elderly and upper middle age voters by painting Romney and Ryan and people that would take their Medicare benefits away from them. It didn't work. Even with Ryan's Medicare reform plan and Romney running on a platform to reform (change) Medicare and Obama promising seniors that he would keep Medicsre the same, Romney still won seniors handily.

"The truth is that neither British nor American imperialism was or is idealistic. It has always been driven by economic or strategic interests." - Charlie Reese

Well he is right!

Liberal democrats have been doing that for years. Why do you think our country is so screwed up? Do you think the worst president ever got reelected because he threatened to not give gifts to the groups you mentioned. You people amaze me by your blatant ignorance. Or is is you blatant liberalism. It's hard to tell the difference.

It's partially true

but there's more to it.

Rmoney was never going to win no matter the circumstances. The WH is an eight year gig don'cha know?

That aside, even mainstream GOPers weren't excited about the guy. He lost not just because of the "gifts", but also the general sentiment that he "was for the 1%", "is a closet Democrat", et cetera. You can look all throughout the political spectrum, and find only a handful of people who could actually explain why they like the guy beyond "he's a good businessman". Basically, he was chosen to run against Obama precisely BECAUSE of that perception, thus fueling the imaginary divide between "left" and "right".

Also, Liberalism is NOT what many "liberals" pass themselves off to be. The word has been co-opted just as "conservative" was.

it's not going to end until the GOP actually tries to appeal to minority voters.

This is another reason why the GOP really screwed themselves by screwing over Ron. RP was the only Republican candidate with an eloquent conservative solution to problems that minority voters face in their daily lives.

Willard was the worst person they could have chosen for this task. Did they really expect minorities to vote for someone who openly writes them off as lost causes and welfare bums? Furthermore, while Willard whines that Obama is handing out gifts to poor minority voters, he's missing the point. These people have never been given a real alternative to depending on welfare checks and food stamps. This is a desperation vote on their part, not a vote for goodies.

I don't play, I commission the league.

What a freaking joke.

"Waaaaahhhh!!! The minorities didn't like me!!!"

Guess what? Minorities for the most part are loyal Democrats. They need to be SOLD on conservatism and how it works for them just like any other voting bloc. Don't blame people of color because you halfassed your campaign and only tried to appeal to white voters, Willard.

I don't play, I commission the league.

Funny how Romney does not blame it on VOTE FRAUD

Since the evidence is rampant and overwhelming...

Maybe Romney knows about the GOP being legally restricted from stopping vote fraud?

This is a BS "strawman" to divide people and have them blame each other, rather than band together and fight the fraud.

Love or fear? Choose again with every breath.

I Still Say

that Obama was already appointed for 2012 years ago. The elections are rigged and the whole left/right bs is for show. Romney was just the "right" place holder and his main job was to keep up the appearance and also to keep Ron Paul out.

got it

This is only being put out for mass consumption to continue fueling the Dem/Repub "rivalry".

A signature used to be here!

Mitt lost

because not enough repubs voted for him. He never had his base.

He also...

pretty much exclusively appealed to older white males. He got crushed among young voters, minorities, and women. For someone who claimed to be "for the 100%," Willard had a funny way of showing it.

I don't play, I commission the league.

That says more about young voters, minorities and women

than it does about Willard. Willard ran a pretty bland, but, economically-broad-based campaign. The fact that the young, minorities, and women voted for Obama shows that they're not only economically illiterate, but, extremely gullible to pandering on niche issues that do not benefit the country or economy as a whole.

"The truth is that neither British nor American imperialism was or is idealistic. It has always been driven by economic or strategic interests." - Charlie Reese

It does say a lot about those groups...

mainly, they know that neocons are full of nothing but hot air, platitudes, and empty promises.

Economic ignorance is thinking that we can balance the budget and increase military spending at the same time. That was Willard's plan.

I don't play, I commission the league.

Most people in those groups you described

don't care that much about balancing the budget. It wouldn't have mattered to very many if them if Romney did have a coherent plan to balance the budget. Their economic ignorance comes in believing more government interference in healthcare is going to fix a problem caused by government interference. And by pointing out the fact that Neocons are full of empty promises kind of reinforces Romney's point that these people vote based on who they think will give them a handout. The Democrats promise more goodies at the expense of the upper middle class and they usually deliver.

"The truth is that neither British nor American imperialism was or is idealistic. It has always been driven by economic or strategic interests." - Charlie Reese

The economy was the single biggest issue this election...

I think you are revealing yourself to be the ignorant one. Everybody wants a balanced budget and prosperity. But some people see no other way to stay alive without government assistance. The fault here is on the GOP for failing to present and sell an alternative.

I don't play, I commission the league.

To most voters...

the economy trumps everything else. But, people receiving welfare (including corporate green corporate welfare), Medicaid, student loans, Pell grants, free healthcare, free cell phones, free contraceptives, etc., etc. see all their handouts as part of the economy.....they are. Yes, the GOP is partly to blame for not running on a platform of aliases-faire capitalism, but, the Democratic Party is even more to blame for exploiting human Nature's weaknesses, among them laziness and promiscuity for their own political gain.
