Iraq Excludes U.S. Wheat

This story is from earlier this year, but I just recently discovered it.
Iraq's Ministry of Trade has placed an order for 50,000 tons of wheat from all origins except the United States and Romania.

No reason was given for excluding the two countries, but purchases can be political and Romania also was engaged in the war in Iraq.

Before Saddam Hussein came into power, Iraq bought only from the United States, and afterwards bought only from Austrailia. (Trade Arabia)
My thoughts on this:
You can sanction 'em, bomb 'em, drone 'em, kill 'em, torture 'em, maime 'em and occupy them all you want, but you can't force them to like you, your ideology or to even buy from you.

The shame of it is, all my aforementioned actions have OUR names on them - whether philosophically we support these actions or not.

As American taxpayers, WE SUPPORT THESE KILLINGS because our rotted politicians who approve it, REPRESENT us.

Bush, Cheney, Rove, Rumsfeld, Wolfiwitz, Bremer, McCain, LIEberman, Graham, Santorum, Bachmann, Ryan, Hannity, Levin, Limbaugh, Medved, Beck et al. will all burn in hell.

Pawnstorm, don't forget to

Pawnstorm, don't forget to list all of those democratic noecons also...

Please give me a list of the demoncratic neo-cons and...

..I'll list them too.

But I'm more pissed off at the republicans who USED to END wars - not start them.

Traditionally, democrats got us involved in wars and when that tide turned after Vietnam, the Neo-Cons migrated into the GOP and culminated in the Bush Administration and the pre-emptive war idea.

The Neo-Cons were also instrumental in the attacks on 9/11 and were quite pleased to have an excuses to invade the middle east as they have been salivating over for years.

A "New Pearl Harbor" just happened to occur right on cue and they got their war.

Not buying from the USA..

..might hurt our feelings, but generally speaking, wheat is a fungible* commodity. The wheat the Iraqis buy from someone else is now not available on the market. So the remaining wheat buyers just buy it from someone else, like us. It's an even trade, and economically doesn't change a thing. http://www.eagletraders.com/advice/securities/fungible_goods...

Poisoning is right

I live in southwest Minnesota, which is heavily farmed with GMO's. Today I noticed that I no longer see birds sitting on power lines. I saw only 1 sparrow all day today, it was on my own property a free GMO territory. For the past 3 years The bats, birds, monarch butterflies and most insects have disappeared.

The corn borer the target insect is thriving. It is due to the seed companies instructions to plant only 1/2 the crop land with seed treated with Clothianidin, a toxic systemic pesticide, the other half plain GMO seed. This gives half of all corn borers free range on all the corn it can eat.

Clothianidin has a half life of up to 19 years in heavy soils and 1 1/2 years in light soils. So it is easy to see that the corn borer will be completely immune to this pesticide within the next few years. But the damage to the environment and a complete beekeeping industry will be unrepairable.

Rothbard recently awakened me to the enlightening fact

that we are not the State, and the State is not us. I don't think it is a necessary or moral institution, so my guilt on these wars is waning. I actually limit my work as much as possible in order to reduce my funding of this murderous plunder.

I am a bit concerned about what happens when the USgovt implodes and we will be sitting like ducks on a pond, undefended, with more enemies than we can even imagine.

I can only do what I can do, and I put A LOT of thought into avoiding paying for murder. And I mean A LOT. I accepted that I will have a worse standard of living but work less. I am okay with it for now.

Wow dducks - What a statement!

Very interesting.

I just got laid off and although it's going to hurt me financially, as a moral thing, I won't be paying near the taxes I am now.

So I too will not be funding the murder state.

But while Rothbard's statement is heartfelt, I'm not sure it's really true.

The state IS us because WE FUND IT.

OUR system was set up to LIMIT the power of the state.

But misunderstandings and corruptions from elected officials (especially in the last 100 years) has caused us all to be involved in the unconstitutional actions of our state.

But on the other hand, who am I to question Murray Rothbard - one of the greatest economic thinkers ever.

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."

Thanks, Pawnstorm!

Here is one of my favorites quotes for Rothbard's Anataomy of the State. I basically invalidates the monopolies.

The State has never been created by a “social contract”; it has
always been born in conquest and exploitation.
The classic paradigm was a conquering tribe pausing
in its time-honored method of looting and murdering
a conquered tribe, to realize that the timespan
of plunder would be longer and more secure,
and the situation more pleasant, if the conquered
tribe were allowed to live and produce, with the
conquerors settling among them as rulers exacting
a steady annual tribute. of a State may be illustrated as follows: in the hills
of southern “Ruritania,” a bandit group manages to
obtain physical control over the territory, and finally
the bandit chieftain proclaims himself “King of the
sovereign and independent government of South
Ruritania”; and, if he and his men have the force to
maintain this rule for a while, lo and behold! a new
State has joined the “family of nations,” and the former
bandit leaders have been transformed into the
lawful nobility of the realm.

So They State has always been primarily interested in extracting a tribute from the people. (landowners) The more history I study the more I see this is always the trick.

i just want an exemption. I would like to opt out.

Maybe they

know our wheat is poisonous?

Yeah maybe they do...But they know our intentions...

...are poisonous too.
