Dr. Paul Write-ins Did Count (in one county anyway)
Submitted by gopcynic on Sat, 11/17/2012 - 12:02Looks like Lancaster County PA. did take the write in vote very seriously. Finally posted the totals. Have a good time reading some of the results. Yes Dr. Paul beat all the Disney characters combined! lol Seriously, what feels good is that if you add up all the versions of his name, Dr. Paul got over 500 votes in the county. What really got me were the number of Lancaster city precincts he got a vote in since it's an overwhelmingly democratic area. Best lesson from this page though is that if you ever run a write in campaign, make sure voters know the EXACT way you want your candidate written in. (spelling AND spacing!)

In My County...
Centre County. Ron Paul got 126 votes. There were 260 write-in votes and he got nearly half of them. A lot of counties in PA tally write-ins. You just have to look it up and take the time to add them all up.

I was one of 555 write in candidates in sonoma county california... doesnt devide them up by name tho so some could be mickey mouse etc

Better still, is that we not allow such 'must-be-written in perfectly' laws to be enacted in the first place or nullify them. If a name appears on the ballot as 'Ron Paul' or 'Ron E. Paul', or whatever version of a name that is obviously still the same person, it shouldn't matter. Why would we tolerate laws that would void the vote otherwise?
I've debated that with myself before...
While I see the pros and cons of it, until any laws actually are changed the most important thing is that you adhere to the ones in place if running a write-in campaign because as you will see, Ron E. Paul might not actually be Ron Paul.....again at least in PA. lol
