Help Me Out! List of Abuses by Federal Government?

I think I've asked this before, and in fact I think a few others have to, but I want to try again and compile a long and firm list of modern day abuses of power by the government. Think declaration of independence and Thomas Jefferson. While the abuses of King George is perhaps the most 'boring' part of the document for us today, it was frankly one of the most important parts.

I am NOT trying to write a new declaration of independence, but I truly believe that a comprehensive, accurate, and well-written list of abuses would be truly eye-opening. I want people's stomachs to churn, and I want them to ask themselves whether they can really support the direction the country is going.

Frankly, one big problem is apathy, and it is driven by naivete.

Most of the people involved in politics (including voting) in America are those that actually are beneficiaries of the federal government status quo. Think about it.

Here's an example or two from TJ:

He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people and eat out their substance.

He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures.

For suspending our own Legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever.

He has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us.

Remember that the KING was really the MONARCHY. And that the federal government, The Eagle and Shield, is his modern-day equivalent.

While much of the abuse listed by TJ was of a nature that has not occurred yet, MOST of the abuses are in fact possible according to current law.

For example, are there not laws which would enact martial law? Buying of ammo without explanation? Attempting repeatedly to revoke right to bear arms? Labeling liberty and patriotism as terrorism? Execution of American citizens without trial? Confiscation of wealth arbitrarily according to the whims of the political process? Lifetime imprisonment for victimless crimes? Undermining of, complete fabrication of, total control over, financial system? Destruction of savings? Seizure of property for arbitrary benefit of government?

I'd say a HUGE grievance is the inversion of power between the states and people, and the federal government since the founding. Technically, our constitution was passed via popular vote, but the 'social contract' at the time never supposed the structure of power in the united States we see today.

Anyway, I want to spell all these abuses out in concise, accurate, but powerful little statements and paragraphs. I plan to make a short video with it.

I think could really wake more people up, especially as the curtain drops from off our economy.

If you think about it, how can we 'defend' liberty if we don't comprehensively understand how it is under attack?
