Why don't most Americans care about our country?

0 votes

As a recent convert to this whole Ron Paul thing, I've read and studied more than I ever did in college. Why are so many of us detached? I don't typically subscribe to conspiracy theories, but it's a little odd that people just don't seem to "have the time" to educate themselves on things that are crucial to our well being. Is it the tax system? inflation? our obsession with the idiot box?

I guess these questions come from my desire to reach more people and figuratively shake the hell out of them. Deep down, I still believe we're a good nation full of good people.....but, we're mortgaging our lives away....why?

Any thoughts?

The left wing philosophy of

The left wing philosophy of the past 3 administrations.

The Neo-Conservatives and the Democrats stand for the same thing, government programs to "take care" of the American people.

This false sense of security not only breeds the apathy, but it also causes us to work twice as much to make ends meat because we can't keep up with the taxes that are paying for all these programs. And more work = less time to worry about silly things like politics.

If you look back at the republican platform in 1984... which Reagan ran on, it should seem pretty familiar to RP supporters.

They'll start care soon enough

When they're cable gets cut off, because they can't pay they're bills, and they can't get hourly updates on Brittney Spears and Paris Hilton. They will join the rEVOLution out of boredom.

Ron Paul 'The Truth'I don"t

Ron Paul 'The Truth'

I don"t care what any of you fucks say.... The population has been manipulated for the past 66 years!!!! Until some people gets some nuts to make their own corporation and fight the mainstream head on.... then there will be no resolution besides the one we don't want to imagine. I know it's hard to take in but if you can't stand up for yourself and your family then get the fuck out of my way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Only tax payers pay taxes. I'm a non tax payer and if you go to www.nontaxpayer.org then you will be as free as I am. Go Ron Paul and research your own shit so you know that we are not crazy. We are "realists"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ron Paul 2012

It isn`t lack of caring

the root cause is that the average American is a delusional brain-washed functional semi-literate serf. Owing all of the pegioratives to his or her`s behaviour .
One. the average American possesses one thousandth of the prowess needed to understand his or her own language.
Two. likewise the average American has not the need to ever read literary works that rise above the ranks of Hustler.
Three . the average still believes that wwfw is real .
Four . the average American is essentially lazy and gives up the right to self -govern to some slick _(&^*^&*)% who will promise a chicken in every pot .
Five >the average American has an IQ below 70
Six . the average American cannot tell anyone when asked the geographical location of any other nation in the world and barely that of the state they litter with their own presence.

I could go on but what would it serve ? The average american cannot be awakened to awareness neither by educated means or insult. .
The average American is a walking disaster ,edelusional about MOM COUNTRY AND APPLE PIE _)*&&&%
Have offended everybody ? Good ! because I served my GD time in defense of the average _)*TY((%^&^%$% American stationed at a PERSHING MISSILE SITE nose to nose the FNG Russians 33 years ago . SO if anybody reading this wants to quote me patriotism show me the papers , I`ll show you mine including field citations and promotions . As for my assessment
of my fellow Americans look around you , ask 1 out of 10 to explain the concept of FIAT MONEY , likely they will quote the ITALIAN CAR instead. (BY the way FIAT the car maker was smart enough to syphon 10 billion from GM to restructure itself on a promise of partnership
with GM then once on its feet it dropped GM like the dumb rock they are.) Tell me all about it.
FLAG ME ? Go ahead and prove all i have written to be wrong . The average American cares alright but is too stupid to care about for what is right.

lack of time?

I've postulated for years that Americans don't have the time to care anymore. They're too busy working to meet their cost-of-living expenses and their tax burdens that they have no spare time, and that which they do have is spent recovering by vegging out in front of the TV, sleeping, or trying to be a parent.

Heck in my own case I'm out of the house 13 hours a day between work and commuting, I spend 7 hours a night sleeping to stay even, and the other 4 are spent eating, bathing, home renovations, computer work like email and here, playing with the dogs, and playing with and teaching my son. And I only have one job! Others have mutliple jobs to make ends meet, working more hours than I'm out, and they have it worse. There's no time to look at political issues with these people because that time is taken up by everything else.

That and they get discouraged by the perpetual BS that they see happening in government and feel their own voice is not heard, so they tend to give up on it and focus on the things in their own lives they can deal with productively and effectively.

That's probably part, but not all of it...
"Welcome to 2008: The Year of Ron Paul!"

Need Expert Opinion

Most Americans don't trust themselves to have an opinion. They are so used to being told to listen to "expert" opinion that when it comes time to vote they ask the experts who they should be voting for.

I read a blog of an expat who holds a PhD in PolySci. This person posted a blog entry about politics and what's been happening in the primaries. I was SICK to my stomach to read people posting comments asking this person to tell them who to vote for because she was the "expert". Yes people, this person may have a PhD in PolySci, but that does not mean that she is an "expert" in telling YOU who to vote for or which candidate represents YOUR views.

It's easy to vote based on a trivial issue like abortion than to really sit down and think who will be the best person to lead our government to the place where we want to be.

because there unAmerican duel citizenshippers

I was born here my parents born here my grand parents born here I can't go back to Ireland I'm Americans and 100% American-Irish
And let me say it isn't every immigrant it's certain types who just want to rape and pilage

"All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent" Thomas Jefferson

"All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent" Thomas Jefferson

Dude, what? Seriously, your writing is a disgrace to all Irish

The land that spawned W.B. Yeats, spawned you? Look, I was born here. My parents were born here. And I am 100% American Irish. On my mother's side, I'm descended from the ONLY Irish Catholic signer of the Declaration of Independence. My paternal grandfather was, fortunately, born in Ireland. Therefore, I could apply and receive my Irish citizenship, so yes, I have dual citizenship. I started the process to have a passport that would make traveling in Europe easier. But the way things are going here, it might become necessary to move to Ireland permanently (usually ranks in top three countries for economic freedom). I would prefer to stay in the US, but I'm not going to live under fascism.

I seriously doubt that the reason people don't get it is because they hold dual citizenship. If anything, it's the opposite. Those who have arranged their lives to get dual citizenship understand all too well what's happening.

I think the reason older Americans, say 50+, don't identify Ron Paul's message as much as younger folks, is because they don't want to think that they've lived most of their lives in vain. As V said, if you're looking for someone to blame, you need only look in a mirror. It's not easy to admit you weren't paying attention while they stole your birthright.

To paraphrase Tilden Freeman: men do not value liberty as much as they value prosperity with the illusion of liberty. What most don't understand is the prosperity is an illusion as well.

I do not agree

I've only lived in the US for 15 years and have been a citizen for only 7 - I care deeply about the country - some times so much it astonishes even me.

Its not that people dont care - they do. The problem is that most people judge a book by its cover and do not have enough of an open mind to educate themselves on the facts.

Heres a video I made that suggests the same point Im trying to make here.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sm1mjufSutM#GU5U2spHI_4

Like Bread and Circuses

As long as the beer is flowing and the sports are showing, people don't care. Or as the USA Today ad said, "we've been distracted with ball games and TV shows". Just wait till there's no NFL on TV; then you'll see riots.

Why are so many of us detached?

Ever heard about 451 degree Fahrenheit - not by Michael Moore, but Ray Bradbury - more than 50 years ago. There is your answer.
Most of Americans are brainwashed by mass media owned by big corporations and serving their masters - American Business and greedy bankers.
But at this stage of American democracy (not a fascism - yet) it still possible to change course if people who see clearly that country is heading in wrong direction try to educate people who are without access to computers and internet
FLOOD COUNTRY WITH RON PAUL SLIM JIMS!
Slim Jims at RP web site are ($5.00/100) or can be downloaded as PDFs. The PDFs can be changed and printed by you. The color copiers and inkjet printers are plentiful at work, schools, homes and everywhere. If everybody reading this can distribute 100 Slim Jims in supermarkets, leave them in restaurants with tip (no tax on tips), leave them in mail boxes, barbers, by ATMs, malls, motels, we will spread the message off internet to people by bypassing the corrupt media.

.

All politics is local, and people are fundamentally selfish.....

of course, these two statements say essentially the same thing. No one will pay attention to us unless its about them, and I mean SPECIFICALLY about them. Most folks cannot or will not connect the dots of a complex representation of how our world works - they (unfortunately) need it spoon fed to them in an over simplified manner. If you have ever taken a public speaking course, you get told to tailor your message to the audience. Our audience is the least common denominator of the general population - a sixth grade level reader with a short attention span and a desire for instant gratification. And to top it all off, the largest percentage of them respond not to logic, but to emotions! I have been saying this for a long time on this blog - the majority of the population are NOT thinkers, they are feelers - they are moved emotionally and that is what motivates their decision making. We must tailor our message to THIS audience, then we will reap the OBAMA effect. Belive me when I say, it is going to be an uphill battle!

Liberty is not free, It must be earned!

Liberty is not free, It must be earned!

Yes I saw it too !

It was great, I can't wait till next week. Oh that Simon is so funny. OOPS Sorry, thought this was about American Idol. Thats the problem with America. Everyone escapes into fantasy.

David Black

Hi David. I think you mean well but you need to understand history and in particular, - war, monetary systems and charity. I've read your comments and you mention Spain. Any problems Spain had with money was to do with the cost of war and borrowing or stealing to pay for it, plus concessions and interest. Same goes for all other warmongering enterprise. I'm sure that you will appreciate that alms housing, Red Cross, hospitals, orphanages, etc were initiated by chatitable,-non governmental cooperatives until some were politicised/taken control of. My point is somewhat proven where in this case: I am aware(In U.K.) the most financially well-off charity is the main Animal Charity. Why? Animal welfare is not run by the government. If it was I suspect folk would care less and would probably feel that it is unfair to work to pay for it via taxation. Folk would keep even less of their income and would feel less sympathetic toward animal suffering. They are also less likely to contribute twice by making personal donations in addition to forced donations through tax. Near where I live they are closing hospitals, fire houses, etc, even though they /have/are being paid for. I would bet that if folk could choose where to spare/spend their own cash we would most likely have the best fire house there is,- as an example. Incidentally, fire houses and police used to be non governmental but there was also genuine poverty because the wealth was kept by industrialists, land lords and bankers who originally got wealth directly through war. If you were fortunate enough you could buy your way into an officership and thus share the spoiIs of war. I accept that there have been great medical and engineering break throughs because of war but I hope we can try and move on with some of those original ideas but without war and invasion from now on,- to give the poor and middle classes a chance to make their own way the next time we get another crack at alternative enterprise. If we acknowledge the history portrayed such as in 'Fiat Money, Zeitgeist the movie'(s), then let's acknowledge time for change is now. Thank you.

'I always thank of all you canvassors and precinct leaders and delegates who were at the front line and caucuses.
Good luck out there &Thank you. You're a gift.

Its about education

Lets get down to the nitty gritty. We are getting about 8% of the vote so far. This is amazing considering that in three states alone this equalls 80,000+ votes. This is not going to get us the rupublican nomination however. Why would anyone vote for mcain, romney or any of the other clowns presented to the people by the MSM? Well the short answer is the MSM is resposible for these idiots success. So how do we change this for the future of our country? Simple, we buy a news channel. Can't be done some of you wil say with your contraryian attitudes, Too much money, time, organization, can't convince cable providers to carry blah blah blah.

Remember those 80,000+ votes so far. Probably 1,000,000+ by the time the primaries are over. Yeah we can do this. And to have a real revolution we will have to!! I don't want to sound too arrogant but those votes represent people that are AWAKE. We are a enormous group of intellegent, informed, talented and in some cases very wealthy and business savy PATRIOTS who belive in liberty and our constitution. We are not a majority --YET. To become a majority we need to edjucate the MASSES! Having main stream media outlets is the only way to do this. Some will say but the internet is the new media. I agree to an extent. But to find the truth on the internet you have to be looking for it, Its just not there by flipping thru the channels.

Imagine what change we could bring about! What if Joe Blow is flipping through the channels and he comes accross freedom to facism. Or our news broadcasts about the half truths and fearmongering the other "NEWS" channels are reporting. Joe Blow is going to have to start asking some questions, especially when he knows through observation that this country is headed to hell and a handbasket. Joe Blow is just ignorant, this is why he can vote for Mcain and company and still be able to sleep at night.

I'd say 80% of RP supporters are aware of media manipulation and the globilazation game in general. We are becoming a force to be reckoned with. This is why they ignore and ridicule us on the MSM. Well to fullfill our destiny and truly threaten them we need to compete with them on thier playing field. They have given us the group think playbook, we know how powerful it is. Talking to Joe Blow is a mind numming experiance. You just can't strike up a conversation with someone on the street and get the importance of our message out in a couple of minutes. We need 24/7 EDUCATION and alternative points of view to the globalist. In the marketplace of ideas our will win everytime if given an equall platform.

Imagine being able to invite Hannity, O'reilly limbaugh and all these talking head clowns and experts to our shows and grillling them on the points they convently leave out in thier rants. We would own them in our debates. No more shut ups and cut his mic. People could make better decisions on what they belive. Goup think is powerful and I belive it is 80-90% of people form thier oppions based on other peoples ideas. No wonder our population is buying into all this nosense they don't have any other ideas to contimplate. Its right vs left 24/7 and our constitution and liberty is left out 99.9% of the time. The good news is our ideas are just better and will win the hearts and minds back but we need a more poweful platform than going door to door talking to neibors for a few minutes. Because after you leave guess what happens? They turn on the TV and are sucked right back in to the fearmongering half truths. I know, I can feel it happen to ME sometimes and I am certainly not ignorant to what is happening in the world.

The TV is powerful and we need it to be on our side for once. I belive jefferson, washington and Ron paul himself would agree that it is a major step in creating a real revolution. Ron Paul talks about advacacy groups and private people having conrtol of the media not government solutions. He wants We the people to take control back and we can. The media is subject to the freemarket like anything else there are now laws that say you can't do that, they can't legally block out the truth.

I belive that RP is not spending his campain money because he knows he won't win agianst the GOP machine. I think he knows like it or not he is our adopted leader. As well he should be, he has proven himself to be highly pricipled and honest in the face of corruption and greed. He is the leaer of a huge group of people at least 1,000,000+ and growing everyday. Although not the majority we a powerful force indeed. He and his family has a chance to lead this country back to the light of liberty by binding this tireless group of patriots together and using the palybook of the globalists agianst them. We should have our own CFR, Bilderburger and trilateral commission. We should have our own conglomerate media empire. And through these things and our own grassroots efforts and running for offices etc we will get our country back. But it will have to be through the freemarket and competition. The establishment sure as hell is not going to just give it back.

So I say prepare because liberty is brewing, Ron Paul is a brilliant man and I think he is thinking beyond this election, and we all have too because it will be a serious fight that will take money, time and effort. It has taken the globilist and banking empire 100 years to get as far as they have. I belive because of shear numbers and that we are right we can do it in much less time but we need to embrace bigger ideas than just running a candidate every 4 years, and hoping enough people do thier research on the best candidate. It will NEVER happen that way people are lazy and complacent. They must be hit over the head with the truth over and over again before they will accept it.

So the next logical step is to buy a news channel and fight back. Maybe Lew Rockwell or RP himself could be our chief editor. Then after that is a enormous succes we keep going until we have bought out murdoch and his globilist cronies.

We need to study our enemys tactics, they are obviously working. Then use thier stratigies against them. THIS IS HOW WARS ARE WON. This movement is bigger than one man and in the words of Ron Paul himself "THIS IS NOT THE END THIS IS ONLY THE BEGNNING".

That's easy - Bread and Circuses

The phrase Bread and Circuses, originally from the Roman poet Juvenal - late 1st century, describes how the Roman people relinquished their political freedom and liberty in exchanged for the abundance of free food and mindless entertainment.
wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bread_and_circuses

Generally true other than in times of immediate crisis...

most folks are raising their families, working their butts off making sure ends meet, enjoying what free time they may have at night being entertained. Just trying to get by on life. They are not pouring over stories of trade imbalances, the nuances of the Patriot Act or the future of the dollar.

That's why you have to reach them, sad to say, in sound bites and bumper stickers, which is really hard to do when you want to explain it to them in complex realities. There's no magic formula. In the end, they want to just pick a person they feel is trustworthy to deal with their problems so they can get back to their daily lives.

Taking personal liberty does require alot of effort, really.

What's a very good question!

I do not want to stereotype Americans. Are we fat, dumb, and lazy or is there more to it than that?

Naomi Wolf said it best...

Anyone read Naomi Wolf's "End of America"? I think she sums it up best by bringing up the fact that we Americans expect freedom, we've never had anything else so we just assume everyone is free and that we are entitled to liberty and freedom.

Unlike say Germany or Italy who has had fascism in the last 100 years, THEY know how to recognize it and they know it is important to be active in order to be free.

When one knows nothing else we just assume that we are born free and that we will always be free. The truth is as Dr. Paul puts it, soft Fascism has already taken root in the Federal American System. Sadly most are ignorant to it because all we need to do is "support our troops" and "fight the terrorist".. People don't read enough, or travel outside of the United States in order to get a real grasp on the situation.

Those that do have a grasp are called "paranoid" or "fringe" and most of those (except the outspoken) usually throw there arms in the air and give up because lets face it, if you make waves in this country then you make enemies, and you make trouble for yourself..

Sadly people have forgotten that you have to fight for freedom, because freedom is a privilege, it's tyranny that is the only guarantee as history has proven.. The use of language, media, and the tactics are another strong point as to why people are apathetic and/or blind, we hear about freedom from those who are controlling us and we hear about justice, but really none of us knows what it truly means, it's just government speak. It's like Orwellian "newspeak"... case in point "Patriot Act" got passed with flying colors and its perhaps the most unpatriotic thing ever passed on the American people...

When Fascism comes to America it will not be called Fascism and it will be wrapped in the flag bearing a cross. Truer words have never been spoken...

A good Example...

as to what has happened to the American people can be seen in this True story;

There was a Chemistry professor in a large college that had some exchange students in the class. One day while the class was in the lab, the professor noticed one student who kept rubbing his back and stretching as if his back hurt.

The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country, who were attempting to overthrow the government. In the midst of his story he looked at the professor and asked a strange question. He asked; "Do you know how to catch wild pigs?"

The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punchline. The young man said this was no joke. "You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come every day to eat the free corn, as it is easier than working for food themselves. When they are used to coming every day,
you put a fence down one side of the place where you put the corn out. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the free corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They soon get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate and sure enough they will come back.
By now, the previously wild pigs, who are now accustomed to the free corn will come through the gate to eat and all you have to do is slam the gate on them and you have the whole herd.
Suddenly the pigs have lost their freedom. They run around franticly
trying to escape, but it is too late. They have lost their freedom. Soon, they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves anyway, so they accept their captivity.
The young man told the professor that is EXACTLY what he sees happening to America. The government keeps pushing us towards communism/socialism and keeps spreading the free corn in the form of subsidies and welfare and tax credits, etc. We are loosing our freedom just a little at a time.

May I offer a theological explanation?

Most Americans, even those who are ostensibly Christians, do not have a proper sense of thanksgiving to God for the manifold blessings that we have received from Him. Instead, we tend to assume that somehow we are more or less entitled to the good life. We simply take for granted that we will always be No. 1: the world owes America a living. The reality is that America literally owes the world everything, because we are in debt up to our ears. The Bible says that the borrower is the slave to the lender. From that I conclude America is selling itself into slavery. America could do this because we came to take prosperity for granted, trusting in our vain wealth and trusting in military might rather than trusting in God.

God is the LOVE in the Ron Paul rEVOLution: "Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his lo

A lot of reasons.... high

A lot of reasons.... high percetange of us are medicated on pharmaceuticals that erase anxiety... Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, Zyprexa, Seroquel, Buspar, Lunesta, Xanax, Ambien.... kinda long list dontcha think ?

I guess we've been *socialized* into the belief that anything wrong out there is a chemical imbalance... so active gestures like political involvement are defined, framed, explained away as people with chemical imbalances who need newer, better, personality erasing medications...

Combine that with 4-6 hours of the brainless crap on television and the average Joe and Jane Citizen are goners.,..

like, ummm... these quotes from Brave New World... only slightly ahead of its time..

Least of all," she continued in another tone "why you don't take soma when you have these dreadful ideas of yours. You'd forget all about them. And instead of feeling miserable, you'd be jolly. So jolly,"

"When the Warden started booming, she had inconspicuously swallowed half a gramme of soma, with the result that she could now sit, serenely not listening, thinking of nothing at all, but with her large blue eyes fixed on the Warden's face in an expression of rapt attention."

"By his heretical views on sport and soma, by the scandalous unorthodoxy of his sex-life, by his refusal to obey the teachings of Our Ford and behave out of office hours, 'even as a little infant,'" (here the Director made the sign of the T), "he has proved himself an enemy of Society, a subverter, ladies and gentlemen, of all Order and Stability, a conspirator against Civilization itself. For this reason I propose to dismiss him, to dismiss him with ignominy from the post he has held in this Centre..."

Reposting this cuz it fits the posted question...

Attention Ron Paul supporters,

Stop whining. It gets you nowhere.

We are not really doing that badly in this campaign. We’re doing much better than Ron Paul ever suspected to do. We have a lot of things working against us, so the 6-10% we’re getting is very respectable. Let’s look at the cards stacked against this campaign:

· The New Republican Party – The neo-cons stick together. Look at how the republican party in general has stuck behind Bush even when he’s a war-mongering, spend-happy liberty-destroyer. If you listen to talk radio, you know what I’m talking about. A few bold republicans have vilified Bush for his non-conservative actions while in office, but most have not.

· Apathy and ignorance – Let’s face it. Most people have no idea that the Federal Reserve isn’t a department of our Federal government. They have no idea that our leaders have turned our country, it’s wealth, and our past and future efforts as U.S. citizins to international banking interests. We have to educate them, and that’s not going to happen overnight. It’s been like this for over 100 years, and no one has done anything about it until now. At least average Americans are talking about monetary policy now… thanks to Ron Paul. The ideological platform that Ron Paul espouses fixes many basic problems we have with this country, but I’m afraid that the sheeple won’t do anything to fix it… at least not until things get much worse. No matter who we have in office this next term… demo or repub… things will get worse, you can count on it. (Unless Paul manages to pull it out somehow, of course.) Americans are still fat, dumb and happy for now. But as the dollar continues to tank, and gas prices continue to rise, and Americans continue to die overseas… that will change. As apathy turns to anger, Ron Paul’s support will rise.

· The “horse race” mentality of the American public – I was talking with a good friend of mine the other day, and when I said that the only man worth voting for was Ron Paul, he said, “Yeah, but he doesn’t have a chance to win. I wasted my vote on Harry Brown, and I’m not doing that again.” My response was, “Did you vote for the guy you thought would do the best job leading our nation at the time?” and he said yes, he thought so. So I told him, “Then your vote didn’t get wasted.” So many Americans feel they have to vote for “the lesser of 2 evils”, or to vote for someone who “has a chance to win”. It’s not a horse race. That is no way to decide who you support. But people choose to have this mentality. I used to be the same way, always voting for the republican nominee even if I didn’t like them that much… just so the democrats wouldn’t get in office. Well, now the two parties are both the same… big government, globalist, war-mongerers. So, the only way to vote is for Paul, whether he has a chance or not. No one else will change things. People have to get out of this “vote for the winner” mentality. Once again, I don’t think this will change until things get much worse in this country.

· The “Hollywood” mentality of stupid Americans – Some people look at the election as a beauty contest or a popularity poll. They vote for the one who is “so articulate” or for the one who is a “great orator” or for the one who used to be an actor. This is so stupid I don’t even want to discuss it.

· MSM and the lack of time/boots on the ground – Let’s face it, the Ron Paul movement gained serious momentum a little too late to make a huge difference in the early primaries. He’s done exceptionally well considering he is virtually ignored by the msm. (Well, they don’t ignore him entirely… sometimes they bring him up just so they can cut him down.) But to reach the people, we as Ron Paul supporters have to do it one-by-one. We can’t count on the msm like the neo-cons can. As long as Rupert Murdock owns television, we’re going to have to realize that the msm are always going to talk about Ron Paul as a “kook” or a “fringe” candidate. That’s fine. We just have to spread the word person-to-person. As things get worse in this country, this will be easier to do. As he gains supporters, he also gains more boots on the ground to spread the message even further. As his support grows, it will almost grow exponentially… as one person tells 2… who tell 2 or 3 more… and so on. This takes time and dedicated supporters. It will not happen overnight. As his support base grows, however, the rate of bringing on new supporters will increase. 3x3x3x3x3 over and over, only 16 times = 43,000,000 votes. But… if you look at it half-way through though this process, 3x3x3x3 over and over, only 8 times… it’s only 6,561 votes. That’s the power of geometric progression and exponential growth. If you look at it that way, only having 10% of the vote means we’re probably well more than half way to achieving our goal.

I haven’t tried to be discouraging in this post. We should be encouraged. 50,000 people in Michigan voted for the man who “has no chance”. The message is getting out. Even if we don’t win the nomination, a revolution has begun… and it’s growing by leaps and bounds. Just keep talking to people. Join the meetups and keep the energy going. We’ll get there. We just have to be patient. (The globalist war-mongers have been patient. They’ve been working on their agenda since the Woodrow Wilson administration. About 100 years. I think the message is worth the patient effort… don’t you?)

In nutshell, things are bad... but they aren't bad enough for the average disconnected, clueless, sheeple of a people to stand up and do anything about it... yet. The 10% of people who care and have a clue are voting for Ron Paul.

My 2 cents.

Solid post, but...

...patience is only satisfying if one believes that time is on OUR side. Unfortunately, all signs point to "NO". This is Ron Paul's last run and every revolution needs a leader to focus on for actual guidance or simply as a figure. Obviously, politics requires REAL people to carry the message into the halls of power. I see no one out there, Democrat or Republican, that can step up and become as legitimate as Ron Paul in four years, or even eight.

By that time, I doubt it will matter much. The dollar will be toast, our liberties will be a faint memory under the "war on terror" spectrum, and our economy will be hollowed out.

At that point, something akin to 1776, not 2008, will be required of any revolution that wishes to refocus the country.

I sincerely hope that I am wrong about the timing......I too want nothing more than to live in the America of our dreams.

"Luctor et Emergo" - Struggle and Emerge

with you again, John

The wealth of our country is being transferred overseas as we speak. The next four years will witness a sea change if not stopped. By 2012 it will be a fait accompli.

I'm still convinced Bush's trip to the MidEast this week wasn't about war with Iran, but about cash infusions to save our banks (mission accomplished!), probably urging them to keep the dollar peg, to help control the price of gold and in return, more weapons systems. They are becoming our bankers and we, their army of protection.

I think they do care

I think most Americans do care about our country. However, I also think they don't understand how bad things really are. People sit at home and watch "American Idol" on their 60" HDTV and they think they've got it pretty good. But they bought that TV on credit, just like their nice new car. The "affluent poor" are able to buy nice things, but they never can seem to make ends meet. But that's okay because we're the greatest country in the world, right? It's only when you really open your eyes--as RP supporters have done--that you realize that the American dream is just a mirage. I fear it will take a major economic downturn before people wake up. By then, it might be too late.

Don't blame me! I voted for Ron Paul!

I mean

You are aware that Obama is a supporter of abortion right?

So is Paul

Ron Paul's idea of letting the states decide will mean nothing more than abortion being legal in all except maybe three states. Doesn't sound like a plan to me.

Troll Alert! Troll

Troll Alert! Troll Alert!

Dear David (or Rudy, or Fred, or Mitt, or whatever your name may be), although I have been negative in a number of my posts here on the DP, yours have been consistently denigrating of Ron Paul himself and his positions. Therefore, why are you here?

I think the answer is clear.

P.S. You are a lousy infiltrator and anti-Paul insitigator --- you are just TOO obvious!

David Black, have you ever had an...

...intellectual thought? There are also heart patients waiting for transplants, too -- Perhaps you should offer yours to a thinking person. Don't worry, I doubt seriously that anyone would be interested in using your brain. Good bye David Black.
