United Nations Moves to Impose International Treaties On States Legalizing Marijuana

The United Nations has declared Colorado and Washington in violation of international treaties following ballot initiatives that have legalized the recreational use of marijuana.

The President of the International Narcotics Control Board (INCB), Raymond Yans, has voiced “grave concern about the outcome of recent referenda in the United States of America that would allow the non-medical use of cannabis by adults in the states of Colorado and Washington, and in some cities in the states of Michigan and Vermont,” according to an INCB press release. The INCB is a quasi-judicial “control organ” for the implementation of the United Nations drug conventions.

Mr. Yans said the referenda in Colorado and Washington state “are in violation of the international drug control treaties, and pose a great threat to public health and the well-being of society far beyond those states.” Yans cited the standard nanny-state reasons for dictating what consenting adult Americans put in their bodies, including mental disorders, and cited the welfare of children as a primary concern of the internationalist organization.

“Legalization of cannabis within these states would send wrong and confusing signals to youth and society in general, giving the false impression that drug abuse might be considered normal and even, most disturbingly, safe. Such a development could result in the expansion of drug abuse, especially among young people, and we must remember that all young people have a right to be protected from drug abuse and drug dependency,” the globalist bureaucrat said.

It would be ironic and poetic justice

... if this free growing weed that so many people chuckle at and stereotype, becomes the catalyst for a tipping point for people (yes even people that don't use it and don't like it) to wake up to freedom.

I can imagine scenarios coming where people finally reach the breaking point and force local and state governments to abide by our Constitution and 10th Amendment, or get thrown out of office.

ie. the catalyst for the Second American Revolution taking root might just be the good ol "stoner weed".

Don't chuckle.

you could be on to something

I never gave the Republican party two thoughts before, but I tuned into the first few debates just to hear Ron and Gary advocating legalizing marijuana. I couldn't believe this was coming out of the mouth of Republican candidates. Then I heard Ron talk about foreign policy and thought that this guy really does understand this countries problems. So, I dug deeper into the Federal Reserve, the FDA, and all the dangers to individual liberty Ron fights against.

good maybe people will start

good maybe people will start to realize why sovereignty is so important, and suddenly the principle behind state's rights suddenly becomes clear. Between this crap, the internet power grab and agenda 21 we might make some new allies across the political spectrum.

the worse things get the more attractive libertarian philosophy becomes.

I will gladly comply when they show me proof that alcohol is safer than cannabis.

Safer or not

Should be a wake-up call for ALL Americans!

Even if you do not agree with Legalization/decriminalization, this should be one of the most troubling things of our lifetime!

Are we a sovereign nation or subjects of the UN?

When Fascism goes to sleep, it checks under the bed for Ron Paul!

Abolish the UN already!

I'm not even American and this makes me, mad as hell!

To think stepping on national sovereignty demanding that Washington to step on state sovereignty...

Maybe some good will come of this, it shows to every one what the U.N really is. Almost all those who support the U.N ironically would likely support liberal drug policy.

Dear U.N.

our free people voted for legalization

The U.N. can eat a bag of dicks. We are a sovereign nation. The rest of the world can continue to learn from U.S.

Prohibition has failed. Its taken two states a majority vote to stop the insanity of marijuana prohibition. MOTHERF*CK THE U.N.

A bunch of evil pricks sending our kids to die while they armchair quarterback.

Thank you - my husband and I voted

and we won - in Washington - we are taking a stand.

The strange thing is, we have not smoked or used marijuana in so long I cannot remember when.

It's the principle involved, I mean, we are considering getting medical marijuana, but that is already legal here. So our support for legal pot is just taking a stand against the federal gov and now I guess against the UN.

Same here..

I do smoke, but not often. Im not ashamed of it either. Its my damn body and it does wonders for me... even though I may only use it once a week at most!! Im getting older I guess ;)

It is the principle involved. FOR LIBERTY!!!

Raymond Yawns: "Legalization of cannabis within these states would send wrong and confusing signals to youth and society in general, giving the false impression that drug abuse might be considered normal and even, most disturbingly, safe." If sending signals that drug abuse is safe had anything to do with this, the world's two most favorite drugs would be illegal, alcohol and caffeine. This is just the start of NWO putting pressure on the US. They'll start with small things, then before you know it they'll be telling you what you're allowed to eat.

Here's my message

Dear reader, I was horrified to read of Raymond Yans criticism of recent marijuana laws passed in various places in the United States. Of course this was all in order to protect the children but he chose to ignore or sideline the fact. That in Holland with it's liberal drug policy much less youths and adults have ever tried marijuana.

However that was not the part that concerned me, Mr Yans is entitled to his opinion, no matter what he has to ignore to get there... What did concern me was his call for the U.S Federal government to "resolve the contradiction between the federal and state levels in the implementation of that country’s obligations under the drug control conventions" It seems Mr Yans is calling of the U.S government to do something quite outside of its power to impose its will on the states and violate their sovereignty. I am not a U.S citizen but this still shocks me and as my nation is a U.N member this concerns me. This was passed by a public referenda in these instances, in Washington more people voted in favour of this than for President Obama... His disregard the will of the people frankly disturbs me and what of his concern for the law? The U.S Federal government does not have the legal authority to do as Mr Yans asked, of course it is a shame the signed a treaty obligating them to do something they've no control over. The have no authority to force their will on the States on this issue than than the U.N does to go inside the United States on any issue it has not obligated itself to. It is my belief that Mr Yans aught not pressure the U.S government into overstepping its bounds and defying the will of its states citizens and imposing laws upon them they do not consent to.

Apologies for any mistake my dyslexia may have caused.

Disregard for the will of the people.. "the democratic process"

And this:

"He further emphasized that States Parties have an obligation under the Conventions to ensure their full compliance with the conventions within their entire territory, including federated states and/or provinces."

Such a development could result in the expansion of drug abuse, especially among young people, and we must remember that all young people have a right to be protected from drug abuse and drug dependency...

is a lie and has already been disproven with the initiation and dissolution of Prohibition. And, pray-tell, how does one protect young people from drug abuse by making marajuana illegal? Uh, they are toking anyways and it is a much more dangerous situation getting the stuff when it's illegal. What a bunch of hooey.
