Worst U.S. Drought in Decades Deepens

ST. LOUIS — The worst U.S. drought in decades has deepened again after more than a month of encouraging reports of slowly improving conditions, a drought-tracking consortium said Wednesday, as scientists struggled for an explanation other than a simple lack of rain.

While more than half of the continental U.S. has been in a drought since summer, rain storms had appeared to be easing the situation week by week since late September. But that promising run ended with Wednesday’s weekly U.S. Drought Monitor report, which showed increases in the portion of the country in drought and the severity of it.

The report showed that 60.1 percent of the lower 48 states were in some form of drought as of Tuesday, up from 58.8 percent the previous week. The amount of land in extreme or exceptional drought — the two worst classifications — increased from 18.3 percent to 19.04 percent.

Monsanto's seed will make the drought worse!

Their corn and soybean strains are not drought resistant. We have had excellent growing seasons throughout the US since the GMO's came around. Their root systems are shallow and will die when a hard drought hits.

Organic corn and soybeans have root systems that penetrate up to 25 feet down more drought resistant.

Gold standard: because man can not be trusted to control his greed

Adding to the pain

the Army Corp of Engineers have started reducing the water from the Missouri River that flows into the Mississippi River. They are doing this to protect the Missouri basin but it will have a harmful effect on the states south of St Louis. http://www.cass-news.com/articles/2012/11/24/news/local/doc5...

Why does everyone on here

Why does everyone on here blame everything unusual on conspiracy theories or the government had something to do with it, and not just some natural phenomenon? Couldn't this be just mother nature doing this? You people are starting to make yourself look loony, no offense.

"as scientists struggled for an explanation"

ummm....turn HAARP off for a few days.

Well, there SHOULD be a

Well, there SHOULD be a drought after massive snow levels, i.e. 300% of normal, on the northern Rocky mountains after a YEAR and a HALF of excess precipitation through late 2010. The massive precipitation over the year, 2010, followed volcanic eruptions in late 2009. Granted, some areas of the country have been experiencing persistent droughts, but those areas will be inundated eventually like Georgia was in 2009 (IIRC).

Scott Stevens of the channel "weatherwars"

on youtube is someone we should all subscribe to. Scott is also the prominent meterologist in the documentaries "What in the World are They Spraying" and "Why in the World are They Spraying" he lives in a part of Colorado that get's hammered almost daily by planes dropping chemtrails. He documents this on video, then breaks down what he's seeing over the US.
This drought is a designed program folks and should be the single most important thing on everyones plate. Everything takes a back seat to water and food. And I mean EVERYTHING.

Just one last kick in the nuts, then a final deathblow

Ouch. Doesn't sound good for 2013 food prices.
