Rand Paul's NDAA Amendment: Does It Go Far Enough? (No)

"Senator Paul’s amendment — for all the good that it does — doesn’t go far enough. Read the text of the proposal again. There is not one word of repeal or abolition or revocation of the indefinite detention of Americans from the NDAA."

The r3VOLution is NOT republiCAN.

He Was Not Lying...

...he (unlike you) knew the difference between strategically playing politics and compromising. Ron Paul knows politics too like when he endorsed Newt Gingrich for speaker of the house.

Wonderful... now we gettin' somewhere...

So... Rand 'playin' the game" Paul DID support flaming leftist, chickenhawking, Constitution-shredding, aborting, Sodomite-marrying Romney.

Now for the zinger...

Was Rand "playing the game" Paul LYING, when he supported Constitutional Liberty? (keeping in mind, YOU CANNOT DO BOTH)

Yes or no?

How Did Rand Paul Lie?...

...he supported Romney because he knew that would be the only way to finish what Ron Paul had begun, that is, taking over the GOP. If you really want to debate Rand Paul's principles, give me a enough of a list on the issues that shows the difference between him and his father that is deserving of the bashing you are giving him. If you want to call it lying, feel free, but all I am saying is that Ron Paul did the same thing.

he's building a resume for

he's building a resume for 2016 "look in the senate i opposed NDAA I had an amendment that blah blah blah...."

And Rand "playin' the game" Paul is also AIDING THE ESTABLISHMENT by claiming "so-n-so DIDN'T vote for such-n-such" - like he did with his Amendment to cease foreign aid to enemies. In a TRULY DISGUSTING, TYPICAL ESTABLISHMENT MOVE, he campaigned FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT that so-n-so democrat voted no... but conveniently OMITTED THE FACT THAT REPUBLICANS LIKE ROB PORTMAN (LAUGHABLY, on the Deficit Reduction Panel) VOTED NO ALSO!!!!!!!!!!

Tea Party Goes To Washington, MY A$$!

We must start somewhere

Let me preface by saying I am as suspicious of Rand as anyone here. After endorsing Mitt I had pretty much wrote him off. However I will still judge any person based on all of their actions, not just the one I really don't like and don't fully understand.

Do I wish the amendment made indefinite detention illegal for any human being? Of course. There's a lot of specific changes this community would like to see in regards to natural rights, the constitution and foreign policy, but it's ridiculous to think we can get it all accomplished in the next two weeks with the congress we have.

So what CAN we do? Reaffirming constitutional rights that were stripped by NDAA 2012 and the Authorization of Use of Military Force is absolutely a start and a major victory for liberty/freedom and our movement.

One problem I've seen in our movement is that we only see victory as having our guy win the biggest contest in the land. We have made huge strides for liberty in the past few years and won major battles like Marijuana legalization and marriage equality. Not to mention we've started the conversation about the role of government.

Rand Paul may not be the knight in shining armor we saw his father as (or wanted to see him as), but he is one of the only politicians supporting legislation that I can agree with. Simply while we are here talking about non-interventionism, abolishing the TSA, protecting liberty, the constitution, etc, Rand is there in the trenches, surrounded by the enemy, fighting.

Let's continue to watch Rand, we will judge him based on his actions and he will receive my support only if he proves himself.

i agree

ron pauls ideas seemed to extreme for many...the ones that are still asleep or have alot more wakening to do....rand dumbs them down....taking baby steps... makes them not so extreme...on both sides of the fence for that matter.
like audit the fed...which will eventualy end it!

Alot of the bills he proposes like ending foreign aid to countries that hate us...burn our flag...and say death to america...its a start and makes sense to just about anyone....does rand want to end all foreign aid...sure...but this is a start...and it thoroughly exposes the crooks that vote against it ...rand is more genius and on our side than you think he is! rand also said he would support the gop nominee no matter who it was from the get go!

Our founding fathers are rolling in their graves...the land of liberty needs a regime change!

duplicated somehow

Our founding fathers are rolling in their graves...the land of liberty needs a regime change!

Sure, if you're willing to sell out just like he did...

"A citizen of the United States captured or arrested in the United States and detained by the Armed Forces..." He might as well be supporting "colonization" of African Americans. The national military has no right to capture or arrest citizens of the US in the US. It is settling for the scraps to argue about what they do with innocent people while they have them in prison. So, yeah, why not sell out? What's the right to walk the streets innocent of crime anyway? Some silly construct of that ridiculous constitution, I tell you!

What will you do?

I'm going to remain supporting Rand's Amendment because I believe it can be passed, which is better than waiting for someone to write something better that may not get passed.

It definitely doesn’t go far enough

It does seem to be a stop gap measure, and possibly the most pressure Rand is able to bring at this time. Repealing the NDAA and the Patriot Act would take a monumental effort, and change in congress.
With the Supreme Court and the Whitehouse duking it out over this part of the NDAA, it unites two of the three branches of government.

The danger is to allow this amendment to allow us to lose sight of the ultimate goal of Repealing the NDAA and the Patriot Act.
