Plank #1 of the Communist Manifesto:

1. Abolition of private property in land and application of all rents of land to public purpose.

Tester was just elected for another 6 miserable years also. He was corrupted to the core as soon as he hit the Senate door. Montana and the country are the losers with this guy. The 2nd. Amendment is next.

Regulation

I have worked within the Wetland Regulatory Framework and let me tell you, there you will find the most authoritarian, feeble minded people you will ever come across. This is how our rulers intend to destroy property rights. They already have to a large degree.

The question I have is: many of these programs are functions of the state (i.e. state DEP's or water districts) acting under federal mandate, how long will the states be able to afford this level of regulation?

Why didn't Ron Paul vote on this?

S 3525 = HR 4089 Labelled "Sportsman's Heritage Act of 2012"

According to http://www.govtrack.us/congress/votes/112-2012/h164 :

Ron Paul didn't vote.

Ron Paul was right...bills are labelled the exact opposite of what they do!

Interesting how the NRA and GOA are at opposites on this issue. NRA showing their true colors. Thanks for pointing this out PollMan - (from post below)

This is a Senate Bill. Rand voted "Nay" 3 times.

Ron Paul was probably pretty busy to have missed this vote. It would have mattered by the 274-114 vote count.

The list of traitors with S.3525 who repeatedly voted Yea for this bill is staggering.

crap.

I have a seasonal stream on my property that is used for cattle grazing occasionally. It goes right through the middle of my 50 acre parcel.

I hope this is not happening any time soon. But basically the 1972 water act gave the local and federal governments powers over the waterways to do as they please.

At the stable where I board my horses

The government is trying to buy up all the land around there because it is in a swamp. I wouldn't be surprised if eventually they started to just seize all properties that the owners weren't willing to sell.

Apparently they don't want the property the horses are on, though, because some substance was buried there a long time ago before the current owner bought it. When the EPA found out, they fined the current owner $10,000 (even though he hadn't buried the stuff, and the people who did had town, county, and state permits) and wouldn't buy it when he tried to sell it later.

This is bad news for me though - there is a creek on the edge of our yard.

Rand Paul's new book

Rand Paul's new book (Government Bullies) talks quite a bit about how the Feds are abusing the definition of "wetlands" on private landowners.

Agenda 21 again

In Kelo vs. New London, the Supreme Court gave corporations the right to steal property for profit. Landowners were only given the value of their land under existing land use rather than be allowed to received compensation for potential higher land use. Individuals can still own land but are subject to having their land taken when the powers that be can profit from them. It doesn't matter weather those powers are the government agencies selling hunting licenses, Trout Unlimited, or Disney World. Kelos asserts the right of modern corporatist lords to possess whatever they wish belonging to the serfs; a feudal sort of Droit du seigneur with regard to possession of property. The allows the rich and powerful to make instant profits without having to share them with the serfs who held the land and paid the taxes all those years.

I didn't understand "water wars" until I owned land out west.

I believe water wars are the next "front line." My public education, which was supposedly very good, never said much about the water wars of the wild, wild, west. Perhaps that is because that "civil war" has never ended. Those who live in humid climates may never understand, but out here you really "get it" - water is life.
I am not certain, but I suspect that if I were to go steal water from my neighbor's well, he could shoot me and never be charged with a crime. I am pretty sure that none of my other neighbors would tell on him. It keeps us all friendly - we have a deep understanding of "personal property rights" and as long as it goes both ways, it is harmonious self-governance run amok round here.
So, you tell me Obama may make a land grab. I think you are right, but I think it already happened and will merely be expanding to include all land. (The UN already owns many of our National Parks. Did you know that? Look into it.) Here is the think - they want it all, and us gone or too numb and dumb to be anything but peasant slaves. But it is coming to a head now. Our water, our food supply, and our guns to defend our water and food supply.
I have never even been tempted to steal my neighbor's water because I know what will happen if I try. A move like this proves their desire for open civil war.
