Wal-Mart suspected shoplifter dies in parking lot confrontation

A man suspected of shoplifting two DVD players from a Lithonia, Ga., Walmart today died after an altercation with two store employees and a contract security guard, prompting a police investigation.

The man, whose identity has not been released, exited through the front door of the store at 1:30 a.m. today and was confronted in the parking lot, according to DeKalb County police.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found the employees on top of the middle-aged man, according to a police report obtained by ABC News affiliate WSB-TV. When an officer bent down to handcuff the suspect, he noticed there was no resistance.

I whole-heartedly agree. I do not condone theft one bit, but without knowing the circumstances that would compel one to do so, lest not we judge.

I am glad that the security guard will longer be providing services, due to overstepping the duty that was assigned. We have due process in this country, folks, and it had BETTER be adhered to. Security gaurds, 'law enforcement', even our president should NEVER be above and beyond the confines of our beloved Constitution!

and the 2 walmart employees should be held accountable

all 3 should be charged with manslaughter at the least.

Killed over cheap Chinese plastic crap.

The only thing worse would be to die over a couple of cheap plastic Happy Meal toys.

It is about the same difference.
