The above seems to be one small relative example of innumerable things indirectly connected to:

These theories are discussed in more detail in this full length documentary:

2012: Mayan Prophecy and the Shift of the Ages.

In effect technology and knowledge double at intervals over time, but at an exponential rate moving toward an imminent parabolic curve of doubling. With the Mayan prophecies speaking of a new age, or an awakening, the Novelty Theory and Accumulation of Human Knowledge Theory become more interesting when one considers technological progress such as the article linked above and the rate of technological advance today.

Put in simpler terms: The more technology and knowledge a civilization acquires, the faster the current level of technology and knowledge doubles. In the end, causing novelty (new things) to become more common at an increasing rate where technology and knowledge will eventually begin to double every couple seconds, accelerating to the point of doubling many times per second. Thus, humanity potentially reaching a new level of awareness, mass awakening, new age, or dimension, or even eventually leaving the current laws of physics behind.

Take from it what you will, but it is undoubtedly a mind bender for thinkers, while fodder for title voters.

Whether or not these combined theories actually prove to apply to the year 2012 and Mayan calendar specifically, aspects of the theories almost seem inevitable at some point in the future.

Happy mind expanding. (Posted by BMD)
