Robert Wenzel's Open Letter To Libertarians: "Don't Be Fooled By Rand Paul"

Interested in everyone's thoughts on this.

Dear Libertarians,

"There is a big difference between Ron Paul and Rand Paul that appears to be missed by many. Ron Paul was not hungry to be president of the United States. If he would have been hungry, he would have booted his grandson in-law and that entire gang out early on in the primaries when it was clear they were positioning themselves not to advance Ron Paul and liberty, but to advance their own careers. Ron Paul just wasn't that hungry to do that and be president. He was satisfied getting the libertarian message out.

Rand Paul is different. It appears that he wants to be president. Wanting to be president changes a man, wherever they start off from.

This was Rand at the start of his political career, on the Federal Reserve and Bilderberg.

After Rand settled in, this is what Rand did when questioned about Bilderberg.

Rand also enthusiastically endorsed elitist loser Mitt Romney. Remember this?

If you want to become president, you have one thing in mind, you need to get to 50.1% If you hold libertarian views and run on those views you are not going to be president. I dare anyone to run on completely libertarian principles and believe they are going to win. Go ahead. Tell voters you are in favor of legalizing heroin and LSD. Tell them that the U.S. government should default on its debt and relieve taxpayers of the burden. Tell them you want to end welfare and food stamps. Tell them you want to end the DEA, TSA, FDA, DOE, FAA, SEC, CFTC and the rest of the government alphabet soup agencies."

Tell them you want to end medicare. Tell them you don't want to fight Muslims, or anyone else, anymore. Go ahead, see how far you are going to get. As I have stated before, there is nothing wrong with running, as long as you stick to principles and lose. It can be a method of spreading libertarian views. Winning, given the current voter climate, is when you become suspect.

Rand Paul is about winning.

Every time I point out Rand moves that are away from liberty, I get emails and comments telling me I am too harsh on Rand. I received many again today because of this post (Scroll down to the comments).

Agreed. Wenzel is abrasive.

Agreed. Wenzel is abrasive. That's his style. But he is uncompromising in his principles and well-versed in Austrian economics. His blog is an excellent resource. Frankly, it's important to keep a guy like Rand honest even if it comes off antagonistic.

Exactly.. Honesty first.

He hammered Gary too like that lol

I'd rather hear the truth from an honest abrasive person than a cuddle session and half truths any day of the week.

Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution, inevitable.

thanks for reminding me, now i really love Rand.

It makes more sense to have a guy that wants to win then it does to back a guy with my hard earned money that never wanted to win. While i personally believe Ron Paul did want to win he knew the GOP would screw him over since the crap in Iowa, the bump in Florida primary, and then in Maine. the guy who wrote the above article needs to get a life.

Come on Mods

How does this crap make front page?

Why is it that those who are trying to bring down the liberty

movement have names like:

Schlussel or Wenzel or Hufschmidt or Krauthammer etc

Almost 90% of those who have such names are anti-Ron Paul movement or trying to destabilize the movement.

You will start to notice it after being in the movement for sometimes. Don't believe me? Go and check out the articles written by them when RP was running.

So remember, whenever you read any "news" from people with similar names as above, please be careful.

For The Power of The Republic!

With Ron We worked to get the message out.

Now ... Rand is playing to win. Giving the option of anyone else with a chance to win and who would you pick ???

There is a way to say Bilderberg with out using that term ... listen to Kennedy's speech ... Watch what Rand Does not what he says.

Why can't Rand just say what

Why can't Rand just say what he means and mean what he says like his father?

Because he is a pandering mish mash of contradictions playing a secret war game. Isn't that special?

Well, I don't buy it. Ron Paul warned me about politicians like him.

Why can;t Rand just be like his father?

Because his father spent deacdes known as "crazy uncle", that no one wanted to eat luch with, or cared how he voted.. as long as he brought the bacon home to his district, which he did, he could say anything he wanted, they were not listening.

From the moment Rand was born, they were watching, and so was he. He's not replacing his father as a congressman, he is a high profile Junior Republican, who can not say and do what he wants because they care very much about what he says and does.

He will always be compared to his faher, who by comparison to the majority of Americans is way above in accomplishments, integrity and moral values. Rand is taking greater risks than his Dad because there is no campaign now.. he's being heard, and while it is not exactly his father's message, it carries the keys to materialize the message.

All I asked was for him to

All I asked was for him to "mean what he says" and "say what he means."

I know that is a difficult task for a politician like Rand or Romney, but it was exactly this statesman-like straightforwardness from his father that created the revolution you now speak of.

We don't need to pander, we have the ideas on our side.

After 6 years of promoting these ideas so strongly and persuasively, and with so much momentum behind the message, WHY abandon our principles NOW? Why "soften the message" or speak in double forked tongues? The facts are on the side of the principles, muddying up the waters just muddies up the revolution.

I can see no other reason to abandon principle other than to compromise our principles and weaken the movement. Why else would someone want to abandon principle? Do you really thing that type of strategy is what causes revolutions? Just look at history and you will see that the compromisers end up losing in the end.

I'm not willing to follow the rest of the lemmings into that type of strategy.

The only simularity between Rand and Romney is the GOP

I see you using principle to do nothing. If you can't be exactly like Ron Paul, well, forget that. So we will move on without you, and one day, when all the dirty work is done, you can stand there, shinning to yourself. "look at me, I am so clean.. I KNEW this would happen and I told everyone on DP.. how principled I am. I didn't have to get dirty,, and Rand and everyone who worked to get here,, well they are all dirty.. but me.. I got a free ride telling everyone about principle that Ron Paul did.

How nice for you. And in the meantime, since I joined the GOP, and have had to sign and keep loyalty oaths, and made myself dirty so I can be in place to help Rand, or any Ron Paul Republican, who is being watched with intent to harm. Imagine Rand being assassinated. Think that will help us? I think you have no clue what it takes, are unwilling to do anythinmg but sit back like a snake to take credit for being so principled. you are not.

You're lazy and a user, a blamer and no help.

I am not committing just yet.

I stand on my own, just as I have when I chose to support Ron.

Justin Amash is on the horizon. Judge Nap will hopefully take a cane.

If Rand proves himself loyal to Liberty by 2016, MY r3VOLution will support him 100%.

When you posted this comment below I was like, whoa, that is a devastating critique. But when you posted it for a second time I was like: this chick lives in PWN City! Well done.

this part is relatively accurate -->

"The only way Rand would ever get elected president in the current environment is if he bows to the elitists and he becomes their tool. "

We clearly need to change the environment in this country. Just look at how people voted in the last election. It is a sad state of affairs. Things are changing but never fast enough.

You'll never know...

...if a libertarian can win in the current environment until you try. If Rand runs in 2016, either the environment will be right or it won't. If it is, he wins. If it isn't, he loses, but his campaign will still have an educating and movement-building effect in the same way as Ron's campaigns, which might set the stage for someone else in the future. We have nothing to lose by making the attempt.

"Alas! I believe in the virtue of birds. And it only takes a feather for me to die laughing."

2016 will be different

I agree that 2016 will be a different environment. I am just waiting for the tipping point! If nobody runs it will never happen. I expect Rand will run in 2016 but personally I think he is making good headway in the Senate and he should stay there for another term. If he leaves now he will be leaving a big hole there.

Robert Wenzel has the mental

Robert Wenzel has the mental capacity of a 17 years old mentally retarded child.

Yes, expect Rand Paul to express moderate views on some issues so he won't be labeled "extremist", "kook", "crazy", "out of touch" like it happened to his father.
Look at Rand Paul's actions, they are 1000 times more valuables then his words, after all, he didn't said anything wrong.

Ron Paul said and always did the right thing and look what happened, he got zero percent support from the Party, let Rand play his game, he can't be like his father in order to win the votes of millions of dumbass voters out there.

Rand Paul will get attacked viciously, he doesn't need his father supporters against him, let's stay united, ignore the idiots like Wenzel and the trolls looking for attention at 02:00 ET after a glorious session of masturbation in their mother's basement.

Before talking about 2016, let's focus on the midterm 2014 elections.

Guess what, Rand apologists, this article is right on.

You hypocrites may indeed with the presidency with Rand Paul, but you will have so little integrity left, your power will not be worth a bucket of warm pee.

Vote it down! That will make it not true!

Rand had a choice to make: Try to tone down his father's message and win elections, or push harder than his father did for truth and individual liberty. Downvoting people who point out the truth will not make them or the truth go away.
Rand selling out politically was bad enough, but when an ophthalmologist stats pretending marijuana has no medical benefit, he has sold out his medical integrity also. That his supporters will stand in line to sell out with him is no surprise to me, but it is sad.

This is the article that got my posting privileges revoked:

Please substantiate your

Please substantiate your claim that Rand has denied there are any medical uses for marijuana.

"I'm not promoting it"

about 40 seconds in.

Perfect chance to bring up the medical value, he chose to imply that it is bad.

The thing none of you get but RAND DOES is that marijuana is the ONLY medicine that treats the SOURCE of the glaucoma issue. All the drops and pills and surgeries are to lower the intraocular pressure, marijuana is the ONLY thing known to protect the optic nerve. Or, if Rand does not know that, he is a lazy doctor.

This is the article that got my posting privileges revoked:

That dog won't hunt. You took

That dog won't hunt. You took that completely out of context to try to make a point. Disingenuous at best.

How is that out of context?

He could have stuck with facts, left his opinion out of it. WHY would he not advise it - he is a doctor in a field where it is the most effective treatment for a blinding condition. Is it because he was in the context of "politics" in your mind? If so, that is my exact point. People who KNOW one thing will say ANYTHING as a politician. Your capacity to make excuses for his dishonesty is sad, to decide that I am being "disingenuous" for noticing is almost funny.
At any rate, I am done pointing out Rand's neocon ways. There are still good people here with good ideas, I will stick to those conversations where something may be gained. Vote for Rand and whatever lie he "needs" to tell to win, I will not be participating in that game.

This is the article that got my posting privileges revoked:

The question the reporter

The question the reporter asked was specifically about the two states that legalized pot for RECREATIONAL PURPOSES. They were not medical marijuana ballot initiatives. He prefaced his answer by saying he did not condone it. Meaning, smoking pot recreationally. No part of that discussion was about the medical aspects of marijuana. I guess he could have acted like a woman on prozac and ran on for 30 minutes about 100 different things he was NOT asked about. I'm glad he didn't.

Oooooo. You're so pure, and

Oooooo. You're so pure, and the rest of us are unworthy. Whatever.

Whenever thoughts like these have happened across my mind,

there is one thing that seems to shout out from my heart: Rand is undoubtedly his father's son. If he has to "play politics" to be able to win the presidency, I'm 100% behind him.

I expect him to be a flip-flopper of sorts, except that he run on "majority appealing" positions, win, and later to change his positions on most things to more Liberty oriented stances. This would also be very satisfying, in a "dish best served cold" kind of way. haha.
