Fiscal Cliff BS

I think it's a good idea to point out the psychological maniuplation that the Political Scum Class spout, as well as the ineptness of the current neocon-led Republican Party.

Last year, the politicians did not have the guts to come up with a buget agrement, so that coward Boehner pushed an agenda that they would agree to raise the spending limit in exchange for a "deal" on the budget.

The "deal" ended up being an increaase in taxes and cuts in spending. These would go into effect if they couldn't agree to something else by Jan 2013.

So now ...

When the deadline is coming up, some political hack came up with the term "fiscal cliff." Hey, nobody wants to fall off a cliff! They could have used a term like "fiscal responsibility," or "budget agreement" or "finally getting their act together."

Of course, the agreement is meaningless nonsense. It is real tax increases combined with phony spending cuts. But what is most interesting is the psychological manipulation they are engaging in.

As soon as someone came up with "fiscal cliff," all the politicians and media jumped on board and started using that term.

Meanwhile, the GOP has already (once again) showed that they will push an agenda of bigger government, dispite their empty rhetoric to the contrary.

Interesting that in 2008 and 2012, when the GOP had a presidential race to run, they focused on the presidential candidates who were both big government statists.

But in 2010, with no central focus, the Tea Party voters put a lot of people into Congress who claimed they would stop the out-of-control spending.

Of course, the neocons leading the GOP made sure that never happened. But interesting to note that when there is no one person to focus on, the voters tend to "vote the bums out" more.

Non-presidential election years are where the non-statists make gains.

Anyway, just thought it is interesting at the propaganda out there about "fiscal responsibility" ... err ... "fiscal cliff."

I see the psychological manipulation

But I see it as diversion from the real "fiscal cliff". They will just end up with some sort of deal at the last minute. The details don't matter but it will include some tax hike and debt ceiling increase and they will pat themselves on the back for their efforts. Yay, the fiscal cliff has been averted! Let's praise Barack Obama and the liberal Neocons for saving us once again.

But in fact the real fiscal cliff is fast approaching with our over all monetary policy setting right on top of the gas pedal.

What budget?

For the past four years there's been no budget. Congress just raises the debt ceiling and spends. Who knows where this money is going? I bet the Fed knows.

TommyPaine....Man this was a refreshing post, once of the best i've seen in a long time. The term "Fiscal Cliff" is a textbook example of pure propoganda. It should be accurately called the terms listed above, or "Bush Tax Cuts Expire, Back to Clinton Tax Rates and we actually start cutting down on our national bills with Sequestration". The Dems think Clinton is the best President since forever, so let the Bush tax cuts expire, it's revenue but only for about 2 weeks, i forget the exact statistics, but it's something like 68 billion which is 2 weeks of spending and the economy won't rebound so i'd let them hang themselves. And we definetly needs cuts across the board, but no one for the most part in Congress is serious other than the obvious people, Everyone wants to cut something but never their program. To be a Cynical Cindy for a moment, i wish Default just so the average ostrich (person with their head in the sand) Wakes the HELL up....

*Wisconsin Constitution* Article I, Section 25 "The people have the right to keep and bear arms for security, defense, hunting, recreation or any other law-abiding purpose"

Yep Ben Bernanke is the genius who came up with the term

Similiar points made in these radio interview-they created the problem by not dealing with it now they have to avoid dealing with it lest the go off the "fiscal cliff"

The bad news is that we went over the fiscal cliff

a long time ago.

The good news is that we're still falling.

Obama and the media are pushing this "fiscal cliff" meme in advance of the scheduled tax increases, to hang it all on the "obstructionist Republican party".

He's got his sheeple bleating "obstructionist republican party baa baa". I cannot listen to them.
