Fiscal Cliff BSSubmitted by TommyPaine on Thu, 11/29/2012 - 15:27
I think it's a good idea to point out the psychological maniuplation that the Political Scum Class spout, as well as the ineptness of the current neocon-led Republican Party.
Last year, the politicians did not have the guts to come up with a buget agrement, so that coward Boehner pushed an agenda that they would agree to raise the spending limit in exchange for a "deal" on the budget.
The "deal" ended up being an increaase in taxes and cuts in spending. These would go into effect if they couldn't agree to something else by Jan 2013.
So now ...
When the deadline is coming up, some political hack came up with the term "fiscal cliff." Hey, nobody wants to fall off a cliff! They could have used a term like "fiscal responsibility," or "budget agreement" or "finally getting their act together."
Of course, the agreement is meaningless nonsense. It is real tax increases combined with phony spending cuts. But what is most interesting is the psychological manipulation they are engaging in.
As soon as someone came up with "fiscal cliff," all the politicians and media jumped on board and started using that term.
Meanwhile, the GOP has already (once again) showed that they will push an agenda of bigger government, dispite their empty rhetoric to the contrary.
Interesting that in 2008 and 2012, when the GOP had a presidential race to run, they focused on the presidential candidates who were both big government statists.
But in 2010, with no central focus, the Tea Party voters put a lot of people into Congress who claimed they would stop the out-of-control spending.
Of course, the neocons leading the GOP made sure that never happened. But interesting to note that when there is no one person to focus on, the voters tend to "vote the bums out" more.
Non-presidential election years are where the non-statists make gains.
Anyway, just thought it is interesting at the propaganda out there about "fiscal responsibility" ... err ... "fiscal cliff."
