Sen. Rand Paul Discusses Running For President
Submitted by legalizeliberty on Sun, 12/02/2012 - 17:19As Christmas quickly approaches, so does the new year.
I caught up with Senator Rand Paul ringing a bell for the Salvation Army this afternoon at Greenwood Mall.
I asked him about the importance about giving back this Christmas, and some possible government changes in 2013.
"I've been a member of the Lion's Club for about 20 years now, and the Lions Club every year comes out. So, we've been coming out, and I've been bringing my kids for years to teach them that you need to give back to the community," Sen. Paul says.
"It's a lot of fun. I've been doing this since I was about six, and its a lot more fun than staying at home," says his son, Robert.
Senator Rand Paul and his son made it a family outing to help those in need.

I just don't trust him
If we neuter the office of president and he is consistently leading in that effort, then I'd consider him. First though we ought to focus on dismantling presidential powers for a more lasting change.
If anyone wants to be president with these horrible powers, that's your major red flag they probably shouldn't be. Note Ron Paul "wanted" to be president specifically to hand back what those prior usurped.
Don't run. Don't run!
I'd rather someone else!
I am skeptical
Independents wont be swayed by Rand in 2016. In 4 years, there will be even more people depending on government help. Unless Rand panders to special groups with populist offerings, he wont get votes. (For comparison, if Ron Paul did not offer to take care of our military personnel and veterans, few of them would be here today.)
Now, assume Rand wins. I still remember the past. Evangelicals waited for 8 years to get anti-abortion laws from George Bush. Instead, they got "no child behind" and "record aid to Africa."
If our ideas do not spread on their own strength, but only because of bad economy, we need to see what is wrong.
Can Rand unite the conservative populists?

Nope
Doubt he will be the next commander-in-chief.
He Looks So Different With His Apron On...

WoW! We are watching Rand. So far, you seem like a good guy. Please don't support the wars.

Just Run!
The moderates will be anxious to consider at first but the Independents will be eager to choose.
