So while watching the football game tonight, i was shocked to see Bob Costas use a football players suicide to spew anti gun rhetoric during the half time show. Anyone else catch this?

Could this be

where all the sports fans wake up and realize how badly they've been screwed?

We need to pass a law

We need to pass a law prohibiting people from getting out of bed in the morning. Can you imagine all the crime that would stop? Let's all push for that.

Machetes, Not Guns Were Used in Rwanda to Mass-Murder...

1 million+ people within 28 days of genocide!

Point being made is that when it comes to murder, murderers will use the next most lethal weapons available. Imagine if the people in Rwanda had guns, could a million+ people have been slaughtered? I, personally, don't think so. Even if both the murderers and the people had guns, it never would have happened--guns would have saved their lives!

"Innocents Betrayed" is a documentary that proves that in the 20th century alone 170 million defenseless, unarmed, innocent people have been slaughtered and are in their graves now via "death by government" (their own or by a foreign government). These innocents were betrayed and murdered and couldn't defend themselves, nor defend their families because they weren't allowed to keep and bear arms for their personal protection! They didn't have a Second Amendment. See it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAU9AJfttls

By the way, Susan Rice, the then Secretary of State for Africa during the Clinton presidency, stood by and did nothing! Yes; the same Susan Rice who Obama wants to replace Killary Clinton as the new Secretary of State, according to this article entitled "Obama’s adviser on human rights accuses Susan Rice of being a bystander to genocide" @: http://www.ethiopianreview.com/content/41216)

Consider this, Mr. Costas

A S&W .38 Special saved my 76 year-old grandmother who lived in a crime plagued area of Detroit in the 1972 when a drifter tried to break into her apartment.

Her roommate and she tried to scare the man off by yelling, but he just kept on coming trying to bust the door down. So she picked up the revolver she purchased following the death of her husband, and holding it with her arthritic hands, pointed it at the intruder, closed her eyes, and fired once, killing him instantly.

An excerpt from a clipping of the Detroit News I possess states the following:

Widow, 76, kills intruder
By Douglas Glazier,
The Detroit News. May 6, 1972, No. 258

Homicide detectives after questioning her allowed Mrs. Samuelson to go back home by midnight. They determined that she had a legal permit for her handgun, and decided she fired in lawful defense of herself and her property. Mrs. Samuelson has three grown children with homes but said she was determined to continue living where she has made her home for almost 30 years.

“Where in the world can you move that there aren’t troubles to worry about anyway?” Mrs. Samuelson asked.

“Don’t call me brave. I’m realistic, that’s all. The trick is not to think you’re living in a dream world. A person can’t escape reality. You simply have to face it.” She declared.

So Mr. Costas, you need to face reality and understand that a pistol is just a tool. In the case of my grandmother it served to be a great equalizer for a elderly lady to be on more than equal terms while facing a determined intruder younger and stronger than her.

Sometimes the factions in the

Sometimes these (new) factions in the Ron Paul movement confuse me. We're for the right to smoke pot, do drugs yet some seem to hate football and fat people. Apparently if you smoke pot, and are skinny and not into sports you're "good".

WELL I'M FAT, GAY AND INTO SPORTS.

OH MY!

Yes, but you have a brain.

Yes, but you have a brain. And you're stubborn enough to keep using it. As you see fit.

(I have the same "freedom problem" as yours to deal with, here, btw. I just can't quit freedom. Addictive, heh.)

So, that's where you (and I) have got too much to fairly compare with Mr. Parrot- ... er... I mean, Mr. Costas.

"Cyril" pronounced "see real". I code stuff.

If Belcher didn't have a gun.....

he would be alive today?

Really, if O.J. didn't have a gun, Nicole Brown would be alive today.

Oh, that's right, O.J. didn't have a gun.

Puh...leeeeez.........

the beast could've strangled her just as easily if not easiER since he wouldn't have needed to get a background check for that.

FOOTBALL CAUSES DEMENTIA AND BRAIN DAMAGE

LETS BAN FOOTBALL

Now there's a libertarian position... ban football

Boycott? Sure. Vote the politicians out who financed the stadiums with tax dollars. Absolutely. Mock the NFL militarism? I concur.

But ban a sport played by adults who absolutely DO know the risks and are very well compensated because a progressive rag says so? That's ridiculous.

At the youth level, there is no higher incidence of injury in football than in any other recreational sport including soccer.

Progressives hate football just like they hate guns. They oppose anything that does not promote docile, servile, meek men.

So you go ahead and ban it and see what happens. We've already raised two generations of pussified, androgynous young males during the assault on the sport. Do you think they vote for pro gun candidates? Please.

I suspect the post was sarcasm.

My fault

Sometimes sarcasm is hard for me to "read".

They just lost an NFL viewer

plain and simple

Frankly, I should have done this awhile back. Spectating sports is supposed to be an escape...now they ram pink breast cancer, military holidays, etc. crap down our throat.

fuck that

The NFL has become a platform for social engineering.

Guns prevent more violence than it allows

You can look up the stats for yourself.

Right now, we can get guns...so we should...even if you think guns are bad, get them and lock them away.

Forget guns this is all just deflection by the NFL

from the real elephant in the room, that is the high rate of suicide amongst NFL players due to the increased likelihood of head injuries suffered from playing professional football.

Something the NFL has been covering up for years.

Spurious LInk

You can draw the same correlations to football players steroid use, performance enhancer use, painkiller use, stress reliever abuse (alcohol, drugs), enormous salaries and toxic entourages, glory addiction and post football boredom, etc.

Do long term pro players suffer brain damage? I'm sure offensive linemen are particularly susceptible due to poor/antiquated technique. But that's their choice. And they are well compensated for it.

Yet the subject as brought about by Costas was guns

And NFL players are using guns to commit suicide. Why? Could be PTSD related, similar to the high rate of suicide amongst the armed forces.

Even before seeing this...

I always thought Bob Costas was just creepy looking. That eery, unflinching, calculating stare...

Dear Mr. Cost Us,

I would like to point out that on the very same day this football player committed MURDER, a young grounds crew member for the Cleveland Browns football team, hung himself at their practice facility. Next Sunday, will you please narrate your commentary on the need to ban rope, since without such device, this young grounds keeper would still be alive.

the KC Chief linebacker that

the KC Chief linebacker that pulled the trigger likely had some brain issues related to concussions or hard hits.

Before you talk about banning guns...BAN FOOTBALL!

How ya like that Costas?

not true

that is false.

How do you know?

How do you know? You don't think that even 'near concussion' hard hits can have an effect on the brain? You don't think that these after touchdown celebrations where every player is slapping the other upside the head as hard as they can...can't have an effect?

You have no idea.

Just look at Chris Benoit...

I have Rosie O'Donnell talking to me about this on Twitter right

https://twitter.com/RyanScott35 I've spoken to Roseanne, DL Hughley, Jason Alexander(Costanza) and a bunch of other people on there. Way better than Facebook for reaching out. Make good points, be polite and win her over. Or at least open minded people who are reading the exchange on line if she won't budge.

Costas should be fired for speaking against the Constitution

Ha! But Costas won't be, since he is one of the many NWO mouthpieces.

Posted over there:

What a crock of crap. Costas will never let a crisis go to waste. He is bought and paid for, a mouthpiece for the NWO. Guns are the only things separating us from the pure tyranny of being rounded up for the FEM Camps. Guns protect and keep a corrupt government in check. With Liberty comes responsibility.

So why are Guns the only means of self-defense?

The United States is unique in that we have more gun violence and more gun deaths than any other developed Country in the World. Nobody should be happy or proud of that fact, and it does say something about our Culture alone (something bad).

The pro-gun argument seems to be based on self-defense. But why is the certain fatality and murder by guns the only means of self-defense? Are there not other means of self-defense? How about Mace? a Home Security System?, Martial Arts training? etc.

For example, Auto-thefts have been dramatically reduced due to the widespread use of Car Alarm Systems (which today almost everyone has). It did not take guns to do that, and a 100-years with guns never solved the Car problem.

The other argument in favor of guns is to form Militas and to defend against an attack by the U.S. Military. But if that is the main reason, it is an outdated one because no amount of guns in the World will be able to protect you from the advanced machinary and technology of the U.S. Pentagon if they wish to strike.

And if you try to shoot a cop, you're just going to go to jail for the rest of your life anyway, so where is the practical case where guns are actually helping anything?

I do think we need to change our Culture which reveres and worships guns. The one case envisioned by our founding fathers of protecting ourselves against the Military is totally dwarfed and outflanked by the construction of a Trillion Dollar Military and Police-Security-State system. So where then is the value?

It's time to take a more Zen approach, and find answers that elevate and advance non-violent methods of resistence.

Without doing that, we will all ultimately remain defenseless.
