Boehner to members: Leadership is watching your voting patterns

"Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) warned his conference on Wednesday that leaders are "watching" how the rank-and-file vote to determine committee assignments, according to sources in the closed-door meeting.

Boehner addressed the firestorm over the removal of four lawmakers from plum committee assignments at the weekly GOP conference meeting.

According to Rep. Tim Huelskamp (R-Kan.), one of the lawmakers denied a spot on his current committee in the next Congress, Boehner "did note that 'we [leadership] have punished four members,' he claimed that it had nothing to do with their conservative ideology, but had to do with their voting patterns." Also removed from committee spots were Reps. Justin Amash (R-Mich.), Walter Jones (R-N.C.) and David Schweikert (Ariz.).

Huelskamp added that Boehner warned GOP lawmakers that "there may be more folks that will be targeted ... 'we're watching all your votes.' "

this is a good story to tweet with the hash tag #PurgeBoehner by the way. Even Fox News has responded to that:

We love the hashtag #purgeboehner – it sounds so dirty.

I think they are only doing

I think they are only doing this now after having RP on a committee for so long and ripping Bernake a new one time and time again. They said "these guys are younger and not nearly as well known... they sound kinda like Ron Paul, we can just rid of them." If they did that to Ron Paul, there would've been hell to pay. Now thats he's gone, they are like "yes... finally"

Its no accident that 3/4 of the members kicked off the committees formally endorsed Ron Paul

Their motto is "Dont Tread On Me"...

Libertarians

If a Libertarian party leader suggested any such thing, he'd be out before you could blink. Libertarians tolerate disagreement to the nth degree... They don't necessarily vote for outlying opinion, often gleefully challenge it, but always allow it to be aired and exercised as a right.

What do you think? http://consequeries.com/

So the inebriated Speaker of

So the inebriated Speaker of the House of REPRESENTATIVES wants REPRESENTATIVES to vote IAW the will of the party's leadership and not the will of the people, eh? Now, does anyone really believe that we, the people, have representation in the US Congress at all anymore? Wow! Boehner, you NEED to resign as you're clearly unfit for your current position.

AIPAC Strikes Again!!!

AIPAC - We need to purge any dissenting vote per Bill Kristol our boss...

Boehner - OK.

Seems like Jesse Ventura is

Seems like Jesse Ventura is correct when he said: "The two parties operate like gangs in that all their members are loyal to the gang first, it's not loyalty to the people or the country. It's gang loyalty first, and then it's loyalty to where they get their money – just like a street gang. How do we make our revenue? How do we get rich? Well, in the case of street gangs, they may sell drugs or do other things to make their money. Whereas these two gangs sell out to the corporation and to all their donors."

Leadership? What a Joke

I don't think that a congressman has a leader. We the people are his/her leader and they take direction from us by following their oath of office which is to the U.S. Constitution.

Remember "We the People" Boehner should be removed as speaker.

We are watching you Mr. Boehner, Representative from Ohio that couldn't carry the state for Romney, while having a Republican governor in office as well.

Leadership? Who is your leader Mr. Boehner?

I agree...

except, it shouldn't be; "We the People" Boehner should be removed as speaker. It should be "has to be removed!!".

I keep waiting for someone to walk into Boehner's office and...

kick his butt.

Darn, isn't there ANYONE in Washington with a full set of cajones?

Memo to GOP House members: your constituents have NO respect for your "leadership".

We've been watching you for a

We've been watching you for a while boner.

Boners all seeing eye?

Say it aint so.

The 'AYES' have it!

The 'Browneyes' that is, just for a little while...

Pathetic

We need to get rid of this guy - the epitome of evil and corruption.

Good

Maybe now the party will disintegrate and our representatives will vote their conscience, not the party line.

Nah.

What's Boehner smoking?!?

He's going to find out what the word " purge" means come 2014. He and every other moderate Republican are going to be eating soup two years from now if this arrogant piece of crap keeps this up.

We have been watching Mr John "the ayes have it" Boehners

Voting patterns too, and it cost the Republicans the last election.

It didn't cost the GOP the election

I never saw a party fight so hard to lose.

I would love to punch out John

Grab the bastard by his scuff and sock him one right in the lips. The man is evil and hell he even looks evil. I hope you yanks dispose of him in his coming reelection

Should be no committees

Should be no leadership. The Reps (public servant) are suppose to be representing their district.
To make it simple any bill that gets 44 co-sponsors (10%) will be require to be brought to the floor for a vote. there shall be no changes, no amendments.

Committees Are Important

Committees are required to determine the scope of the problem, collect evidence, evaluate options, come to a workable compromise.

I tried to overlook this post

but it was too much.

I can respect your attitude that the current situation is crappy, but I cant say that I would support your method of repairing it.

Poor leadership isn't fixed with chaos.
Its fixed with good leadership.

What benefit is there to not having a committee to put together things before they are presented to the body at large for review? If the entire body of congress was involved in the early discussions on every bill, they'd never get anything done (maybe that's a benefit all by itself).

What benefit is there to blocking all amendments to a bill once it reaches the floor for general discussion? Amendments are one of the tools for adding liberty provisions to bills in order to dampen the effects. Not all amendments are good, but they aren't all bad either. And, amending things before the vote is an important part of getting it right.

I've got nothing against adopting some rules allowing a minority movement force a bill onto the floor, but that sort of rule change can be accomplished without scrapping the system as we know it. Its not the rules of order that need to be dumped, its the egos.

Robert's Rules of order exist to let the majority rule, while making sure the minority have a chance to speak their part. They can be used to railroad the unsuspecting and naive, but they exist to protect the vigilant underdog.

Order is a good thing.

committees shouldn't be party based

and the only way around that might be random drawings to assign or something like that.

The logic ...

The logic of the electorate being able to vote in secret is to ensure that they cannot be strong-armed into voting a specific way.

Do we need to institute that secret vote procedure in the House and Senate also?

great

great reason to join the GOP and help them get the message.

That's rich.

Seriously though, you're barking up the wrong tree. I know you must still be purple-faced because Team Red lost, but look at the bright side! Even FEWER people will be participating in the voting process in 2016, and those same people will be seeking solutions to problems that DON'T involve top-down bullshit (hint hint, it never works). On a lighter note Granger, shouldn't you be busy making progress with Palin's "Earthquakers" or whatever the hell it is you prattle on about? :D

“Facts don’t cease to exist because they are ignored.” – Aldous Huxley

Team Red ran to lose, they fought to lose

The problem with folks who don't join the GOP is when they talk about the GOP, they come off sounding like arrongant idiots.

What never works is waving sign like OWS.. but go for it,, I'll honk.
