Note the update - he got an honorable discharge. I'd say he earned it.

Arminiansm is our common enemy

Between Lutherans and Calvanists. Though I still consider Arminians under the Reformed/Sacramentarian block of Christianity, superlapsarianism is not a big thing right now.

Look at the previous comments on this subthread. I have videos linked, however, I can give you a whole video on the True Presence doctrine that comes solely from Scripture.

Thanks so much

for the reply! I will look at the link you provided and read the full thread...it is a topic I have much interest in...very much appreciated and God Bless! :)

In my experience, fundamentalism

is found within the anabaptist world, not Augustinian/Calvininian orthodoxy. Presbyterian is not "fundamentalist".

Anabaptists are Calvanists

Calvin and Zwingli signed a pact that basically said they agreed on everything and condemned Lutherans as heretics. Calvinists like to distance themselves from their Radical Reformation brother, but all are in the same group to me as their theology is rooted in the same principle. They are just twin branches of the same Glory/Decision Theology.

category error

There is a sort of category error going on here.
Anabaptists are defined by the fact that they believe in 'believers baptism', i.e. they don't believe in infant baptism, and if they were baptized as an infant, they think they should be baptized 'again' when they become a believer. "Ana" in Greek means "again" or "Twice", referring to re-baptism. Zwingli and Calvin didn't believe in re-baptism; in fact, the government in their areas(and most European governments at the time) punished re-baptism with death by drowning. And some people accuse Zwingli of drowning Anabaptists since he was involved with government in his area. Some Anabaptists believe in the 5 points of Calvinism, but many of them don't.

One great result of the Reformation was

getting sphere sovereignty worked out. Thank God for that.

The only anabaptist calvinists

I have ever run into in my whole life are the Reformed Baptists. They are the only ones who are devoted to the doctrines of grace.

Historically, however, the Baptists in North America were Calvinist, but that ended a very long time ago. The no longer hold to the London Baptist Confession. There is a movement in the Southern Baptist Convention to return to it, though.

Here you go

The gist of Calvin and Zwingli's agreement on doctrine.

.

the video seems to only talk about their agreement on communion. But Zwingli taught it was a mere symbol, while Calvin taught there was a spiritual presence. They had differences in other areas though.

The two of them

did not agree on Lord's Supper. There is a big difference between mere memorial which has no meaning and where nothing happens, and real presence as a means of grace that transforms the world. Just because neither one believed in transubstantiation doesn't mean that they agreed.

There cannot

be only a 'spiritual' presence. Jesus' natures cannot be divide or confused. Where there is one, the other is also. If Jesus is there 'spiritually', so to must it be in the actual flesh.

If they had actually agreed on everything

they wouldn't have needed to stay separate.

Because

Religion became what they thought it was rather than what it was. It is kind of strange, but this is true. Modern day Calvanists use Calvin's private writings to distance themselves from their Anabaptist brothers. I say they agreed on everything because to me the Lord's Supper is everything to me. It is the heart of Christianity. Removing said heart has drastic theological consequences.

"Fundamentalism ... confuses Law and Gospel"

Well said. People do not understand that "Fundamentalist Christianity" is the cover for the warmongering neocons. They place Biblical prophecy before the Constitution, and use it as an excuse to wage endless war, usually on Israel's behalf. That is NOT what our soldiers swore to uphold.

This is the article that got my posting privileges revoked:
http://bklim.newsvine.com/_news/2013/05/12/18212165-dr-stan-...

It is right and proper

for Christians to put the Bible ahead of the Constitution, but the fundies have Bible prophecy all messed up to high heaven (as do most of the Evangelicals). Bad theology always causes problems, and lots of them.

Their argument that Israel is of God

gets jammed up when you asked, who/what entity formed the nation of Israel in 1947? The United Nations you say. What is the spiritual heart of the United Nations? The Lucis Trust you say, an organization who confesses Lucifer to be the lightbearer and features a summoning for the "great world teacher" on their website? How in the circles of Hell is that supposed to be "of God?"

Do you think God would use a money-changer established organization like the UN which features a devil-worshipping theosophy center in its HQ to rebuild His Nation? Why do you think Daniel calls it the "abomination of the desolation?" Because God still sees the Temple as desolate, no matter what fancy building they might build in the future.

To me, being a fundamentalist always meant believing in the fundamentals of the faith.

What is known today as

Christian Fundamentalism started in the 1920's as a reaction to the liberalizing of the mainstream denominations that happened as a result of their sending their ministerial trainees to Germany for a theological education. The fundamentalist movement was necessary in some ways, but they went all sectarian, cutting themselves off from the rest of the universal church, and veering into anti-intellectualism. They cut way too much off of the whole spectrum of Christian doctrine and practice, and are left with a few little "fundamentals". The fundies today are found within the Baptist world.

And....these fundamentalists are not Calvinists AT ALL! They bash him, in fact.

Not only that

The Biblical state of Israel is not the modern State of Israel. That is a false teaching used to milk money and sympathy for less than charitable causes like shooting rockets into the Church of the Nativity (Catholic Church in Bethlehem) and the Christmas Church (the Lutheran Church in Bethlehem). They kill Christian Palestinians. This should cause alarm for Christians everywhere, but it does not because they want to 'force prophesies' even though Christ in His Humility did not know.

I do put my faith above the Constitution, but I also strive to love my neighbor as myself and thus want to work within the framework of said governments.

Poor baby Blake.

I'm sending crocodile tears his way.

Deism is the answer

God without all the religion.

Moralistic Theraputpic Deism

is the reason for all the problems with Christianity. I say most 'Christians' are of such 'religion' vs actual Christianity which says that God is unknowable except through Word and Sacrament. I say Confessional Lutheranism is the answer.

That is just me.

"Christians" have no business

"Christians" have no business being in any warfare institution. Remember "thou shalt not kill?"

That means "Thou shalt not commit premeditated murder."

If West Point is for national defense, then Christians should be there. If West Point is not for national defense then Christians ought not be there. If West Point is for putting women into combat then Christians ought not be there.

The notion that service academies are bastions of Christianity is the silliest thing I ever heard. They are nothing of the sort. Little Blake just isn't grown up enough to handle West Point.

Thou shalt not kill, means

Thou shalt not kill, means thou shalt not kill. You can defend yourself without killing. I doubt they teach students to aim for the legs or arms.

That's right... it says just that. In fact...

No meat should be killed at all. It does not say people. Nothing alive should be killed, at all. That limits your food to anything already dead, but not dead at our hands!

What kind of plants would that allow us to eat?

Now, that's real change for people!

:)

That's all you get to eat when you deny the perspicuity of Scripture!

You are taking

that commandment out of context and giving it whatever meaning you want it to have. What you are saying it means does not agree with the entire rest of the Bible, and it must agree if you really want to understand the meaning.

Excellent distinction

It means, of course, that George Zimmerman may NOT be a murderer (the jury has yet to weigh in), but Barack Obama certainly IS.

Christians

can serve in public offices, even ones in which a Tyrant is in charge. If he wishes to exercise his conscience, then he must face the consequences. In fact, Christians should serve the polis out of love of one's neighbor. That is the key benefit of being a Christian while being a public servant.

This is a distraction

C'mon it is obvious this is as staged as any other political bullshit story in mainstream media...

The only victim is the reader who buys in into the divisive propaganda.

Liberty = Responsibility

This story

allows people to create strawmen to then launch ad hominums against Christians.

Pretty much, it shows how bankrupt atheistic thinking is. I will await for the stones launched at this comment.
