Franchi and Revolution PAC bashers should get a grip on reality.

How does it come to be that we have like 5 posts in one day mindlessly mimicking a distorted hit piece on the liberal/socialist Raw Story?

One one so far references the source article at Bloomberg (itself not exactly a friend of conservativism), and that's the poll put up by Libertychat. The headline of which in itself reads like a hit piece.

Source article here:

Of note in the confusing article which seems to lump Gary Franchi in with an Obama consultant and vague references to other PACs,

Franchi paid himself $38,000 in management fees and fundraising commissions. The super-PAC gave more than $60,000 to One Touch Media and about $53,000 to Restore the Republic --also owned by Franchi, according to Illinois corporate filings.

Well this comes a few paragraphs down after they kinda just lump this all in as Gary paying himself. Which for anyone that was actually here, watching and interested, it's JUST COMPLETE CRAP.

Know how we knew? He told us so. And then he put together the funds and then he built this capability. This outfit put out incredible videos and viral media, it did TONS of spot media and broadcasts including continuous live panel discussion during debates and major events, his Republic Magazine truly took off, they did media buys, their email lists keep us constantly informed of issues that might slip under the radar.

In other words anybody pretending to be surprised by this is ignorant or simply trying to bash a good man and our movement.

This in the face of Gary's history and pedigree in this movement makes this double so. BASHERS ARE EITHER IGNORANT OR LYING BASHERS. Simple as that.

I leave you with a reminder from Tom Woods entitled The Problem Of The Libertarian Moocher. The Libertarian Moocher isn't those of us who make money off successes for the movement, The Libertarian Moocher is those of you who think everybody has to work for the movement for free. Well they don't. Some of us achieve greater effect and higher professionalism by being just that--PROFESSIONALS.

just voted up your comment; still question the expense

Maybe we can co-create a better way to vet the sense from the nonsense and the legitimate questions from the bashing?

I made a comment on the other thread about how, in my experience (which is considerable), 80% of "administration" costs are GENERALLY unnecessary. I qualified with "generally" some business models authentically require a lot of up-front hard costs. Still, I'll stand by my comment; it's based on my decades in various schools of hard knocks. What is it about this super PAC which required so much expenditure on items which didn't support Ron Paul? How much of that was absolutely necessary and couldn't be worked around?

I'd still like to hear some explanation as to where the money went and how the expenses were generally unavoidable or, at least, transparent. But I acknowledge there are always two sides, at least, to a story. If this guy is a superstar for liberty then I really owe him an apology and I wouldn't mind giving that. But I sure would like to hear the details. And, as I said, it would be nice if we came up with a cleaner way than kangaroo court for dealing with the issues which come up.

Bill of Rights /Amendment X: "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

Do you need a politician or judge to "interpret" those 28

I think...

that the same people who are complaining about RevPAC and don't understand that the projects they worked on COST REAL MONEY, are probably the same people that whined about Paul Fest charging admission fees.

Probably also the people who told others not to ask questions about Jesse Benton's 500k+ payout.

November 6th 2012 I voted for Dr.Ron Paul
"We must remember, elections are short-term efforts. Revolutions are long-term projects." ~ Ron Paul

Stop picking on Gary! Look! Over there! Benton got money too!

If Gary hadn't stolen all that money from Ron Paul supporters, we wouldn't even get to see fantastic news specials like this:

I highly disagree

NO ONE is saying people should work for FREE. No one.

What we are saying is that a strict accounting is ALWAYS in order.

I have been around long enough to learn of the great Harry Browne and his Libertarian Campaign steel funds for personal gain.

And frankly, the NEXT step in the R3VOLution OUGHT to be about

Bottom-up Funding but it MUST be about full disclosure Auditing too.

It was great that we came together to fund a Blimp.

It was great we came together to fund Revolution Pac and the RP Campaign via Money Bombs.

But NEVER should we NOT go through the books and question charges.

The MORE bottom up directed is Great, the more bottom up AUDITED is great too. We have EVERY right to question and get straight factual answer.... you can hold the "HOW DARE YOU's" for your children.

We will go line by line in the RP campaign and we SHOULD. We will question and bicker over spending and its effectiveness.

And most of all, Tom Woods and Gary Franchie and all the rest SHOULD WELCOME this... the minute that they don't, is the minute that the spontaneous bottom up funding will slowly stop.

HERE is the Political Campaign of the future:

Campaign puts out a list of things it wants to do and asks for direct funding of that thing to its supporters. No BLIND DONATE HERE Checks.

Next, the campaign of the future should always ASK its supporters to list the things it wants it to do. Then supporters can individually support THAT thing, again no blank DONATE HERE checks.

And here is the big unrealized secret in Politics: You think the funding is great now, wait until the first Political Campaign does this --- The More Atomized and Bottom-up the financing, THE MORE MONEY that will come in. The Campaign will be directed, literally, from below.

Take two people who Run for Potus in 2016.

Make one RAND PAUL who raises money the way he always has.
Make the other Judge Napolitano who simple PUTS OUT A LIST of what he wants to do and ALLOWS supporters to ADD to the LIST and support that directly. Supporters want the Judge on National TV ad well before election day and well before anyone "with any sense" would advise it, the supporters put their money where THEY think its best used. Supporters feel a blimp is needed, they fund a blimp.

Chaotic? Wasteful? Maybe. But it taps into the emergent properties of the "wisdom of crowds" and will out perform old methods of Supporters give a blind check donation where they DO NOT get a say in how its spent.

So, AUDIT our freedom fighters YES! Spare us the "HOW DARE YOU's".

not to long ago there was an article praising the ron paul campaign for listing items as small as $2 dollars for gum and paper cups
they praised him for his accuracy when others don't bother for under 20 dollars

i think franchi may have been unfairly besmirched but it shows us for later

lets have open honest disclosure on any and all projects
a page listing every item and expense than anyone at anytime can scrutinize

it keeps everyone honest ,,,avoids this stuff and keeps both sides happy ,,, donors and the group

dr paul did show us the way with his surplus returns,,, denying retirement,, and $2 expenses

Look People

A donation to a PAC is an investment from the point of the Donor. It is a perfectly legitimate market function for the investor to investigate whether or not their money is being spent wisely. Franchi seems to claim the report is false. If so, RevPac should have no problem conducting an independent audit of its finances and opening the books for all donors to see. Then this question will be answered.

It's pretty typical of most

It's pretty typical of most people.. They act too fast on emotions before knowing all the facts.. The liberty movement is no exception... unfortunately..

If you disagree with me on anything you are not a real libertarian...

Farm out their creative work - Rev Pac doing it in house saved much more than it would have cost others to produce the brilliant ads they produced. Gary Franchi is solid.

Good point

Nice to have in-house resources.

Most of those who think so actually don't and most of those who think sew actually rip.

It is difficult to form an

It is difficult to form an opinion without facts. Complete financial statements of a political action or campaign prepared by a certified public accountant would clear up so much. The accountant may need to approach the job differently than for other entities, but statements with full notes and all would change this problem, I am pretty sure.

Thanks SmudgeP. Gary F, Tom W, Michael N, Scott H, all those

sharp investigators at Antiwar.com & LRC and other excellent journalists in alternative media SHOULD aim to make comfortable money, commensurate to their talents, time & efforts that they put in as professionals.

I hope all of us in the liberty movement learn to earn our living in honest, earnest exercise of our talents and be generous in supporting other liberty professionals, who are willing to dedicate their craftsmanship for OUR cause.

They rock!

& Thank you freedom fighter!

5 percent of over a million is "comfortable". 83 percent is a scam.

I've seen you repeat this for hours

and yet all you can do is parrot liberal attack sites. You use their trumped up figures. Where's your research?

Most of those who think so actually don't and most of those who think sew actually rip.

Can the Daily Paul

get any lower than this. Remember when you could read about RON PAUL'S principles and examples on the Daily PAUL... NOW it's a freakin' soap opera... Drama, drama, drama...

I'm SICK of this CRAP!!!

Eric Hoffer

Franchi from the beginning

Franchi from the beginning wanted to be a media outlet for the r3volution. He wanted us to have a voice that would be taken seriously. I applaud him for his efforts. His reality reports were always really good. His Republic magazine was even carried in Barnes and Noble. It takes money to push those kinds of things forward.

With Franchi, I've seen a man who tried every avenue he could think of to find a way to communicate, not only with each other (RTR.org) but also professionally to the outside world. He worked hard, really hard, to accomplish what he did.

I don't begrudge him paying himself for it. He put his life on hold to do it.

Blessings )o(

Both my brothers

became Ron Paul supporters because I bought them subscriptions to Republic Magazine!

i posted it because we should

i posted it because we should e aware of it,,, what others,,the other side is saying and what they may percieve.

i love liberal sites to see the hatred they spew and how they think and the hypocrisy they post.

also---- there were some stats and that pac did spend a lot more than others
i pointed out peggy freeman is awesome and always in good faith
i also said the video's were great if that's them that produced them

however we can certainly ask if we should support these,,,, are they worth it??? are they trust worthy???? could we do better??? etc

no reason the pac can't reply with what they accomplished and where money went ,,,problems they encountered and what worked and didn't

also---an article mentioned a new treasurer saying something to the effect that finances were screwed up but on the turnaround

i will agree more outrageous than the paul pac was the gingrich's lady angle,,, but alas it seems ron paul headlines bring more web hits and traffic

i feel if we keep everything open, honest and question it all,,, we all learn and progress instead of making mistakes over again,,,,, if only more questioned the benton thing earlier who knows if that may have brought change and more success

remember everyone talked of waiting till after the election to go over mistakes, regressions and bad actors, quips, gripes, shenanigans and traitors
well that time is here

and as a result of that post i have a new outlook on pacts, how they work,,, which were better run, more successful etc

we're,(I), am better for it,,, info is good and thought provoking

ytc's picture

YOU are biased, or worse, commissioned or volunteering to

come here to POISON this grassroots gathering ground of our liberty movement.

(These are your negative, divisive posts. I hope you are banned from making more of these useless posts.)
* rand sounds like an -ss, ron paul would never do this
* Revolution Super PAC spent most of its money on non-campaign activities
* Dark money group has ties to Ron Paul
* Rand Paul, straight up lied to Nader

did i write or publish one of those articles???

so because i let others know what's out there i'm a traitor,,,, and yes sometimes i agree with the other side when i feel our leaders are wrong
i was blindsided by ron paul inc to some degree and sad it had to happen

many times conservatives read only conservative sites and the left on lefty stuff
well,, i like to see what the enemy says,,,, and hence i see these articles that are out there and no one here knows so i post them,,,,, and yes sometimes i may agree becasue i'm entitled to my opinion as you are

i'm so sad that we seemed to inplode at the end,,,, however at the same time if it's happening light must be shed and we all learjn what to do in the future
what i learned from the franchi story.,,, PAC's must have clearly defined goals and no sececy of expenses

so---a link to all current spending
and a goal----we make 6 30 second video's and fundraise to run them 15 times in minneapolis markets,,,, or something similar
we should demand that

we seem to forget everyone has different opinions, ideas, what irks them,, their upbringing, current circumstances,, and their own worldview and what's happening locally

many times i see anger at granger,,, yet overtime i see why he/she believes what they say when others get angry

we need to do our homework on everyone in positions, aka benton, olsen,
i have seen (directed at me) the anger we throw at each other,,,,on the net,,, but bet in person we'd get alongand never question our motives, beliefs

negatives won't hurt me, my feelings,,, or affect that i visit here everyday and never regret finding ron paul ,,liberty,, and seeing the sham of our gov't ,banks, politics etc

and yes we still need to have the post campaign "Talk" that everyone said to wait til it's over

i don't want to ever feel that feeling of what went down at the end,,, i felt sick for weeks

No one is saying it's weird he took fundraising commissions or had administrative costs. They're saying that it's weird he took 83%. 5 or 10 is understandable. 20 or 30 could possibly be explained. 83 is indefensible. The man is a scam artist.

They are saying?

Or you are affirming? Seems you are. OK then since you make the accusation that the man is a scam artist, please defend your position.

SHOW US YOUR MATH. Try to be a bit more thorough in your numbers than the article. HE TOOK or certain funds were spent in companies he has something to do with? Which produced excellent work as most agree.

Or were you thinking that broadcast quality video studios get built and staffed for free?

Show us the expense breakdowns. Show us your math. Where did the money go?

Most of those who think so actually don't and most of those who think sew actually rip.

You're right.

Running broadcast quality videos about imaginary Amash Romney endorsements and Rand Paul getting blackmailed with drugs and strippers at his book signing is not free. It's just that I think people were trying to give money to help Ron Paul get elected.

They bashed Gary Johnson...they bash all leaders who they fear.

And I don't bash him either.

So tell me, what is it that you fear about Benton, Tate, and Rand?
