Franchi and Revolution PAC bashers should get a grip on reality.Submitted by Smudge Pot on Wed, 12/05/2012 - 20:55
How does it come to be that we have like 5 posts in one day mindlessly mimicking a distorted hit piece on the liberal/socialist Raw Story?
One one so far references the source article at Bloomberg (itself not exactly a friend of conservativism), and that's the poll put up by Libertychat. The headline of which in itself reads like a hit piece.
Source article here:
Of note in the confusing article which seems to lump Gary Franchi in with an Obama consultant and vague references to other PACs,
Franchi paid himself $38,000 in management fees and fundraising commissions. The super-PAC gave more than $60,000 to One Touch Media and about $53,000 to Restore the Republic --also owned by Franchi, according to Illinois corporate filings.
Well this comes a few paragraphs down after they kinda just lump this all in as Gary paying himself. Which for anyone that was actually here, watching and interested, it's JUST COMPLETE CRAP.
First of all, management, administrative and physical costs are part of ALL PACS AND ALL NOT FOR PROFITS. Next, fundraising commissions are ABSOLUTELY STANDARD ACTIVITY FOR ALMOST ALL NOT FOR PROFITS. Next, ANYBODY THAT KNEW GARY BEFORE THIS KNOWS HE BUILT US THE "IN-HOUSE" CAPABILITY TO DO 24 HOUR BROADCAST.
Know how we knew? He told us so. And then he put together the funds and then he built this capability. This outfit put out incredible videos and viral media, it did TONS of spot media and broadcasts including continuous live panel discussion during debates and major events, his Republic Magazine truly took off, they did media buys, their email lists keep us constantly informed of issues that might slip under the radar.
In other words anybody pretending to be surprised by this is ignorant or simply trying to bash a good man and our movement.
This in the face of Gary's history and pedigree in this movement makes this double so. BASHERS ARE EITHER IGNORANT OR LYING BASHERS. Simple as that.
I leave you with a reminder from Tom Woods entitled The Problem Of The Libertarian Moocher. The Libertarian Moocher isn't those of us who make money off successes for the movement, The Libertarian Moocher is those of you who think everybody has to work for the movement for free. Well they don't. Some of us achieve greater effect and higher professionalism by being just that--PROFESSIONALS.
