Ron Paul for Speaker of the House, sign the petition

The Petition: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/speaker_ron_paul/
Whereas current and past administrations and Congress have failed to address the debt, deficits, and massive overspending which is threatening to destroy our nation, we the undersigned recognize a need to change the status quo in Washington. We want a change of direction. We want a principled leader who will fight for Constitutional government. To that end, we propose the selection of Dr. Ron Paul as next Speaker of the House.

There is no requirement that the Speaker be a member of Congress. Dr. Paul has no political debts and no ambitions for further political advancement. He will not be bribed, blackmailed, cajoled or compelled to act against our Constitution.

We urge the Republican members of the House to recognize the need at this time for a leader who knows the system, but who is now outside it, a man with no concern for re-election.

I, an American citizen, support Ron Paul for Speaker of the House, and I strongly urge my representative in Congress, if Republican, to do the same.*
* Dr. Ron Paul has absolutely nothing to do with this petition. It is unknown what response Dr. Paul would have if asked to serve as Speaker. The point is that we are requesting the majority in Congress to ask the long term congressman, physician, veteran and Constitutional advocate to serve his country as Speaker.

The Constitution does not require that the Speaker be an elected Member of Congress, but no non-member has ever been elected to the office.

Why don't we promote to put Ron Paul as the speaker of the house. That would be a great way of putting the breaks in Washington...

This is a good activist idea

In my personal opinion the entire House and Senate should be impeached together with president Obomba.

Great idea!

I hope this has a chance, he is the best person for the job, no doubt!

Oh, Brother...

People, time to get a grip.

This 'feel good' rhetoric and such marginal, albeit well-intentioned, action are going to do exactly NOTHING to stem the tide of collectivism that is and will lead directly to totalitarianism.

People want it...people expect it...people demand it...government will FORCE it, regardless of what the people want, anyway.

Even a huge chunk of the so-called 'liberty movement' are naught but disgruntled democrats and republicans who still want a measure of collectivism, rather than truly strict adherence to the Constitution and to the Principles of Individualism and Individual Liberty.

I guesstimate that around 3% of the populous actually do hold to and demand these things, if, and that is a huge IF, we are lucky.

A 'plan B' needs to be considered by any sane man. What 'your' 'plan B' is, well, that is up to each individual, but I will tell you this, it is utterly foolish to hang your 'hopes for change' on the political process or on 'a man'.

Government and society in general are coming directly for what remains of your freedom and individual liberty.

Face it and decide accordingly.

While i agree let RP do his own thing

You seem to forget it only took 3% to start the war of succession from Britain.

If you guesstimate 3% then we are in good shape. You also seem to forget that the "leaders," or servants as i call them, are made up of around 4500 people.

I'll remind you of one more quote before i let you go cower in your hole.

"All it takes for evil to triumph, is for good men to do nothing."

I Forgot Nothing

Seems to me that I brought up the 3%, not forgot it. I am fully aware of the events leading up to, during and after the revolution.

As to your last 'ankle-nip' comment, you will find me cowering nowhere and certainly not from you or your non-responsive commentary.

Also, please point out the part of my post where I advocate doing nothing.

Lastly, what 'specifically' about what I actually wrote, not what you think that I wrote, do you find so objectionable or inaccurate?
