I would go by his record. That's how I have always voted.

When 2016 rolls around I will evaluate Rand based on what he's done. It's clear he's a disappointment compared to his father but he's the best we've got in the Senate currently. Let's just see how he looks compared to whoever else is running at that time and judge him accordingly.

.

disappointment for whom??? liberals? libertarians?? democraps???
well i would HOPE so.

Rand Paul 2016

your use of the term libertarians...

"You keep on using that word...I do not think it means what you think it means."

Use things not People. Love People not things.

.

libertarians hold no committees or have any power in our gvt.
even at the local level. they have no organization and cant win anyhing, sadly.
libertarians are wonderful but are not conservative.
One must be a true conservative to right this country and win a campaign against this powerful machine, and even then......

Rand Paul 2016

Ron Paul is a self-described

Ron Paul is a self-described 'libertarian'. What exactly is your problem with libertarianism?

Jason

Happy Libertarian

.

no prob with libs but ron paul has NEVER referred to himself as a lib, any type of lib. Many journalists do.
however, he has never corrected them.

so no, ron paul has NEVER described himself as a liubertarian.
what he has said is he is a "constitutional conservative" and "republican" but nothing else.
those pesky facts again.

I sort of have a prob when libs and libers say he is one of them when
is not.
He is a real, cut down to the bone conservative, that does not equate to libertarian in any way.
That was the confusion I thought this site would have cleared up after 6 years.. seems like the libs here love to wallow in confusion.

please provide a link where he has described himself as a "libertarian"
You cant because he never has.

Rand Paul 2016

The OP's handle is so fitting for this subject

Mr. Compromise 2016

November 6th 2012 I voted for Dr.Ron Paul
"We must remember, elections are short-term efforts. Revolutions are long-term projects." ~ Ron Paul

i wouldnt vote for the Neoconservative Twerp

if he was running for Dog Killer.

Apparently I ain't the only Grouch out there

who doesnt like Rand Paul.

At this point there are 568 No votes (55%)

and 465 Yes votes (45%).

Randy better find himself a lot more Neocons to support his political career,
'cause the Libertarian/Paleocon wing that loves his father
really doesn't like Rand Paul.

That is a fact.

Maybe you better learn maths ...

Because 45% is not zero, so your "'cause the Libertarian/Paleocon wing that loves his father really doesn't like Rand Paul." statement is completely false.

That is right up there with because Obama barely edged out half the country he has a mandate in terms of stupidity.

Rand Paul 2016

He did not claim the measure

He did not claim the measure to be perfect. But he voted for it because it gives an inch. Even Amash said that he understands the vote.

The Ron/Rand Team !

Ron was a player and still is a player. Some of you ( the greater than thou purist ) seem to have forgotten or just never noticed what the Ron/Rand team ultimate goal is in the first place.
One is busy inspiring young minds, getting name recognition and garnering mass amounts of support while the other is gaming for position to win the WH. Figure it out folks! He is closer to meeting our goals than anyone else by far and Mr. Purist himself Ron Paul WILL endorse him. You have to have a strategy and play the game to win. If you want real change you first must have somebody in position to make that change happen, otherwise, you will stay losers the rest of your life and your goals will never be met. Arguing among yourselves about who is the purist 'ME ME ME' is serving no purpose at all.
This Jessie Ventura, Gary Johnson, Judge Nap. garbage is simply pie in the sky BS, a unrealistic PIPE DREAM ! They are nowhere near meeting the strides that Ron and Rand have made and they have ZERO chance of winning anything but some profits from book sales. They will only serve as dividers !
Some of you people are your own worst nightmare and are destined to keep on losing in life,.. either that or this place is getting filled to the rim with Hacks and Libtards!
Try loading your pipes with a little reality, wisdom and common sense for a 'change' so you can get a glimpse of what is going on and has been going on right in front of your faces!... AGAIN, Ron Paul WILL endorse Rand ! Now climb down off your Donkey's and get a freaking grip or go on over to the "Jesse Ventura is my Hero" forum and join the ranks of those losers that think that clown has a chance of winning something above a sit-down on The View....

Exactly! What will they all o

Exactly! What will they all o when Ron endorses his son? Will Ron also be a traitor?

Unfortunantly

Yes they will call him a traitor..these Rats need to be purged. They no longer serve a purpose but to divide and fragment what was a promising movement. We have a good opportunity to get somebody in that could advance our goals and these rat turds are obsessed with destroying a winner and calling on that unstable nut job Jesse Ventura to lose another election. Clearly they are not at all concerned with advancing Liberty and are more concerned with advancing their opinions that only 1% of the country embraces at the moment....Racers Race and Whiners whine....

Samuel Adams

Well, yes but I like Ventura.

Well, yes but I like Ventura. He was my gov. If I had to chose between the two of them it would be a hard pick. But I think Ventura is in it for attention and won't run anyway. He's got books to sell.but I'd love to see him debate!

What scares me is that they would rather vote Kucinich the socialist. Go onto the other poll thread and read the comments I was blasted with when I asked what they will do when Ron endorces his son. Lots of yelling and mud slinging but not a one would answer. I have asked this question time and time again but not one rand hater will answer. It's a simple question.

Ventura

is a socialist as well. I like certain things about the guy but he is certainly no candidate for POTUS and would never be taken seriously.
All he would do is put a real bad stain on this movement. He is fine doing what he's doing now.. The goal here is to get someone in office that can advance our goals...O'l Jesse isn't the man for that job because 1. there is no way he could ever get elected...2. He is a socialist....

"If ever time should come, when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in Government, our country will stand in need of its experienced patriots to prevent its ruin."
Samuel Adams

Though I agree he is not fit

Though I agree he is not fit to be POTUS I don't understand the socialist thing. Can you point me in the right direction to look into this. Or share some facts. I'm not doubting you just never heard of Jesse being a socialist.

Even if I would not vote for him...he would be great in debates. Entertainment value!

Healthcare !

Read up on his views about healthcare among other things. Ive listened to him on the radio several times ( its been a long while back) but i had him pegged for a Lefty Socialist way back from listening to him talk about a variety of things. His opinion on healthcare is what really stuck with me though....

Samuel Adams

Hmmm...I wonder if he's

Hmmm...I wonder if he's changed his mind since then. Seems to me when I hear him talk he is quite Libertarian...a self described independant. I was young when he was my gov. But I remember him being outspoken on a lot of stuff and the media and both parties ridiculed him. He didn't do the best job but he did what he said he was going to do. I will have to check out where he stands on healthcare. I recently bought his latest book "Rebloodlicans and Democripts". It was on Amizon for $4 bucks. I figured ya can't get a whole lot these days for $4 bucks anymore so I bought it. Haven't read it yet.

I guess its been

about 4 or 5 years back i heard him on some radio show (i think it was before Obozo got elected ) saying everybody had a right to free healthcare. We all know there is no such thing as free in this world and if anybody gets something for free somebody else is paying the bill for it. He is Libertarian in some ways but i have also heard him air from the left on many issues which many Libertarians do and in some cases there is nothing wrong with that as i don't agree with the right on everything. Do not get me wrong, the guy is likable but to be considered as POTUS material and a representative for this movement is simply out of the question for me, especially now when we finally seem to be making headway. Back in his governor days he also seemed to have a more level head than he does now. He seems way more 'out there' nowadays than he used to be. When i see him now he looks like he is about to blow a fuse any second and sometimes he comes off sounding crazy. I'm a little crazy myself so if i think somebody sounds crazy you can bet the rest of the normal world will without a doubt think he is crazy... We need to start trying to win elections and move our goals forward and in to the MS instead of trying to disrupt things...Times have changed....

Samuel Adams

I think you nailed it. Plus

I think you nailed it. Plus they will crucify him with the government conspiracy show he aired recently. He will have zero credibility. But...for some reason I like the man. Go figure...

Its hard

not to like a guy that says what he means and means what he says. Nowadays that deserves some respect even if you dont agree with what he is saying. I wish more people were like him in that regard...

Cyril's picture

I suppose I would

At this point ... it's a bit too early to be honest.

But I suppose I would.

Assuming, of course, we won't already be all surrounded by ObaMARX brown shirts by that time... at which point the idea of elections will be no more than some nostalgic memory.

Which really isn't quite something we can completely exclude...

The vote is nearly equally split.

At 55% to 45% with nearly 1,000 votes cast, the Liberty vote has been split almost right down the middle. I'm trying again to make a tactful comment. If our support is already equally split, Rand has no chance right now. We are clearly a house divided. Without a united Liberty Movement behind Rand, he should not be thinking about a presidential run. He needs to figure out how to get this other half back supporting him again before he goes after the rest of the electorate.

Depends which part of the

Depends which part of the liberty movement you're talking about.
On RPF the same poll got a 90-10 split.
