The "YES" votes seem to be catching up,

seems we are pretty divided group here...

That poll cannot be verified and may be skewed:

"What if the American people learn the truth" - Ron Paul

rand will take the country in

rand will take the country in the right direction. you CANNOT say the same for the democratic and republican nominees for the past 30 years. so i don't consider it voting for the lesser of two evils, i consider it moving the country forward.

politics aside

from a strictly marketing perspective rand is equally as boring as romney.

The double danger is this:

government wont deliver (Rand, Mitt, George or Barack.) Placing a better person who still wont deliver would only create an apathy. Thus, Evangelicals patiently worked as a grass root movement in GOP for a decade and then waited another 8 years to get something from G. Bush. Instead they were served "no child left behind" and "record aid to Africa."

Why?

With Congress as it is, I would stick with LP. I expect even more Americans supporting Democrats and the big government in 2016 as the number of dependents grow.

Amash 2016?

The only other person who would be in position to run and might be better than Rand is Justin Amash. Only concern is he is awfully young, only 32 right now, but he'll be 35 by 2016. Has he ever expressed interest in running?

cdward - WE are r3VOLution

If full backing/support is there, I don't know anybody who would refuse that offer.

Ron Paul will be on speaking tour at college campuses nation-wide. It is the youth vote, and entire generation that this movement needs to win. Justin can potentially rake in that youth vote, as well as True Conservatives and Liberty minded folks. Ron has hope, as do I. But it will also take work from us. As I have been doing with great feedback, spread this far and wide:

Gun shows (where else will you find thousands of gun-toting Republicans at one single place), Campaign for Liberty, committee meetings, etc. Print, and then distribute while sitting in a chair. The feedback has been great :-)

No. The GOP isn't going to

No. The GOP isn't going to nominate a 35 year old house member who isn't well known. Rand is the only liberty candidate in position to win the GOP nomination in 2016.

what a depressing

thought.

continue to spread the message. vote 3rd party. work at the local level. have ron paul's books
included in schools. support & promote folks like the judge, rockwell, woods and amash ...
our day will come, but why compromise for an ambitious, boring, sketchy neocon lite like rand?

Geez

You people are ridiculous. You defeat yourselves. There is no hope for you.

"Once you become knowledgeable, you have an obligation to do something about it."- Ron Paul

He's been a good senator

Intellectually he just is not in the same league as his father. When he speaks he sounds as if he is repeating something he has heard rather than his own convictions. The GOP leadership will be really turning up the heat to force him to tow the party line, we'll see if he can handle the pressure.

Really?

Have you seen these...

Rand Paul is the number one liberty Senator in the Senate and by a long shot.

Rand Paul 2016 for Peace

Give me Judge Napolitano...

or give me Ron...

Neither one of them will be

Neither one of them will be running in 2016. It's Rand or bust.

yes, clearly there is only

yes, clearly there is only one option. One savior for us all.

I need to watch this guy for a while before I can give him my

vote. I didn't vote in the poll.

Voted No, as of today. Why?

Search Rand Paul's official website on Foreign Policy and National Defense.

Does it say anywhere that he wants to end the wars or bring the troops home? No.
Does Rand Paul want to raise taxes, even though only for the wealthy? Yes. How does he propose to do this? By having House republicans vote "present," like Obama voted present on several occasions.

Does Rand Paul want to end the IRS or federal income taxes? No.

Are these enough reasons?

nailed!

but good luck trying to wake up the randoids.

Hmmm. I could've sworn that

Hmmm. I could've sworn that Rand's page says that he opposes the current wars that we're in.

"We are borrowing money from countries like China to pay for our wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and it would be interesting to know how many Americans believe we should continue borrowing money and saddling future generations with debt to pay for our current actions in Libya, or anywhere else a new military adventure is taken up.

We are already in two wars that we are not paying for. We are waging war across the Middle East on a credit card, one whose limit is rapidly approaching. And to involve our troops in further conflicts that hold no vital U.S. interests is wrong."

SteveMT's picture

True that he says all of that. Why doesn't he say the rest?

Has he ever said "bring all of the troops home?" He has a bill about ending the war in Iraq and that is great, but what about all of the others? I can't tell if he actually wants to bring the troops back home again. I deal with direct speech, like Ron Paul, not politically measured words that only sound good without stating anything definitively.

"bring all the troops home"

"bring all the troops home" will not get you nominated in the GOP. after all, he is a representative of the people, not a ideological ruler.

SteveMT's picture

Then, "the end justifies the means?"

Will we hope or believe that he will end the wars and bring the troops home once he gets elected without telling us directly that he will? Reading into someone's mind is not the best way to acquire grassroots support for any political campaign.

Taxes are going to go up no

Taxes are going to go up no matter what. If Congress does nothing, all of the Bush tax cuts expire at the end of December. Rand was just saying that since taxes are going to go up anyway, the Democrats might as well get the blame for it.

SteveMT's picture

So, the thinking is: never let a crisis go to waste?

Where have I heard that before?

Would Ron Paul ever recommend that anyone do anything to raise taxes on anybody? How far away are we from home regarding the income tax being unconstitutional in the first place? Are we grounded in the Constitution, or are we pretty far from home right now?

The only liberty candidate

The only liberty candidate other than Rand who might run in 2016 is Jim Demint. But I would still support Rand over Demint.

Demint is no liberty candidate

He's better than most repubs, but only slightly. His support for foreign wars(and the military industrial complex), the drug war and his positions on many social issues make him unsupportable IMO. Like most conservatives, Demint likes to talk a lot about liberty but has a very incomplete understanding of what true liberty actually looks like.

He's become better on foreign

He's become better on foreign policy and civil liberties issues over the last two years due to Rand's influence. He's at least more libertarian than Jesse Ventura, who many people here seem to like. Demint at least doesn't support universal health care like Ventura does.

Watch and see if Rand doesn't lose like Gary did..

Keep hyping him up.. when it's all said and done.. you will lose along with those pieces of shit.

It's people like you that give conservatism a bad name.

Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution, inevitable.

Rand already has a

Rand already has a favorability rating among Republicans of +31. Ron actually had a negative favorability among Republicans. Rand actually has a good chance to win the GOP nomination in 2016. It's too bad you won't be joining the effort to elect the most libertarian President in our nation's history.
